I came to Oak Point with a group of friends and couldn't have been more excited to play some golf on Kiawah Island.
If you don't read this whole review, here it is in short: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COURSE.
From the second we arrived, the staff was extremely rude and short with us when asking simple questions, such as "do you have food". It was everything you hated about golf culture manifested into two nerds on a power trip. Relax, you're not on the tour and never will be. And your course is not Augusta.
Next, they don't list the price on the website for a reason. This borderline municipal course was $290!! On a weekday nonetheless. Complete insanity.
The greens were slow and the fairways were a mess. My group played a 4 hr and 10 minute round and the group behind us was up our ass the whole time. We were confused why, then realized that these four guys were playing from the women's tees. We watched a couple of their shots and they were just duffing balls into the water and not even getting them. Come to find out, these dudes were members and complained about our pace of play. I'm assuming everyone around here is a rich d-bag and terrible at golf.
We will never come back here, and I hope no one else ever spends the money on golf at Kiawah. You can play a course of the same caliber for $250 less, and also not deal with the country club. read more
