Course is in very good condition, greens not so much, a lot of this is due to lazy golfers not fixing there ball marks. Course is challenging and is in need of senior tees. The distance from the whites is very difficult for individuals in their 70's and leads to some of the slow play this course experiences. read more

Good - Fantastic golf course!!! Conditions are pristine, layout is challenging, and well designed (minus the 18th hole). No housing along any of the holes was a plus as well. Played here on the 4th of October and was completely impressed by this Public Access course. Was able to walk on the weekend, and was not charged a cart fee (big plus). Bad - Attitude of staff in the shop and the 18th hole. Unfortunately, I did not genuflect enough for the lady behind the counter before handing her my money. Was met with unwarranted attitude. Also, the 18th hole design is a throwaway hole in my opinion. Tricked up par-5 that is not a fair hole for most of the golfing public. Disappointing end to an otherwise fantastic golf course. I will be back, and just deal with the 18th hole. Well worth the money. read more

Compared to many other higher end courses, Turtle Creek's conditions are consistently great. During an evening nine after work at the end of July I was struck by the perfect fairways, rough and greens. Many other courses are battling crabgrass and disease through the heat of the summer and Turtle Creek has clearly won that battle! Giving 2-stars mainly based on the pricing to play this course compared to other courses in the area. They really have no valid reason to be about 20 to 25 dollars higher as the course is ok but not great as some of their fairways are in poor shape, they do not have GPS tracker in the carts like other "nicer" courses do...and 8 minute tee times usually lead to 5+ hour rounds which should not happen in "nicer" courses. On the plus side, the staff is friendly and the greens are well designed and well kept. read more

Excellent public course! Good value for the money. Cartpaths are in good shape, sand traps are well maintained, and the course drains reasonably well. Course is walkable. Challenging enough for the average golfer, but open on most holes so you don't lose your ball if you pull or slice. I have never had problems with the pace of play and get around in about 4 - 41/2 hours Staff is nice You can spend more for a pristine course but then you are paying $85 - $100. Played today and it took forever...5:10 to get through the round I felt like I was stuck in rush hour on the Schuylkill! I generally like the course even though there are other places to play that are in better shape and more interesting (Bella Vista & Ravens Claw). In my opinion, if you are charging top dollar ($67) for a round, you should probably manage your course better and keep speed of play. Oh well, it happens. The thing that really irritated me (and lead to this review) is that when I told the guy at the counter that we just finished the round and it was really slow at 5:10 he reacted by telling me I was mistaken. I explained again (tee time 10:08, had to wait, teed off at 10:25, finished at 3:20). He again told me that I was wrong. OK man, how about something like "I'm sorry it got slow out there, thanks for letting us know, I'll talk to the rangers". Would be 3-4 stars if course was managed better. The course has good conditions and the layout of the course is challenging but enjoyable. However, the management has some type of obsession with keeping the carts off of the rough. Spotters will come and reprimand you if you are observed looking for your ball with the cart in the rough. What I find interesting is that the rough at this golf course is not any better than other similarly priced courses in the area that do not reprimand patrons for entering or parking their cart in or on the rough. This is the only course that my regular foursome has ever experienced a reprimand for "rule breaking". It makes the experience of playing there less enjoyable than it could be. read more

We played Turtle Creek this past weekend for our first time out this spring. For being so early in the season the course was actually in pretty good shape. Based on the website I was expecting a links style course but it's really not. It has a couple links qualities but is really a park style layout with very few trees. I had my driver out on the 4s and 5s which is certainly not the case on a links style course (I also only lost 3 balls ... I loose balls by the dozen on links courses) There are a couple nice holes but the 18th was the only one that was really noteworthy. I disagree with Mike M's contention that it is not reachable in 2. Granted my 2nd shot (3 Hybrid) bounced off the face of the wall and into the pond, but another 2 feet and it would've been rolling towards the green. Just make sure to keep your tee shot down the left side of the fairway. Go for it if you're just having fun with the guys instead of worrying too much about your score. Eagles make better stories than Pars for you and that shot into the drink is more fun for the rest of your foursome ... All in a all Turtle Creek was a nice place to play. A little expensive but not ridiculously so. We'll definitely go back again when the weather's better. read more

I've been checking my local stomping ground's here on Yelp and I'm not always liking what I'm seeing, but a lot of the yelpers here got it right. Turtle Creek is a very unique course for the area. It was originally intended to be a Country Club and because of that, they have some very nice bermuda grass. The fairways are well cut and tight, just like the greens. The course isn't the most ascetically beautiful but the conditions are right for an experienced golfer. Some of the NEGS are that it is pretty expensive during prime hours. It's usually crowded. Watch out after school during the fall, I think PJPHS practices there. If not them it's someone else. Any experienced golfer knows you don't want to get behind those kids, especially when they're playing for spots. The carts are gas and loud. They have a ranger and they do drive around., No rangers is an ongoing problem with these local courses but TC does a good job of having someone out there. They don't however do a very good job of keeping solid pace. What's the point right? Twilight rates are reasonable. My favorite hole is the par 4,10th, drive over the trees and there's a usually wet green that you can stick in one. Oh Yeah, the driving range is next door, don't hit off the mats, behind the batting cages is a grass range. I haven't seen the woman Damon N. was talking about in years but I know exactly who he is talking about. I always go Tuesday afternoons and I don't think she works those hours, thank god. I wonder how she keeps her job with some of the stunts she pulls. I'm laughing in my brain just thinking about Damon's plight, I've seen it so many times....I wouldn't not go there because of her, I'd just yelp like Damon read more

Ok, it's not Gulph Mills or Aronimink, but 2.5 stars for Turtle Creek? Way too low! It's my favorite place to play in the Philly area. I don't know another place between there and Philly that offers the same level of upkeep, at a price w/cart under $50 on weekdays / $65 on weekends, and a reasonable level of difficulty for the casual golfer, without being a flat, dry, boring course. The condition is always pretty good. Immaculate long rough, unique grass fairways that are a little different from others in the area, and groomed tee boxes. A ball mark or two on some greens? A divot on a tee box? Sure, but never the bombed out disasters you see at other courses in the price range as you approach Philadelphia. The design/level of difficulty combination is what's really unique for me. My handicap is just over 20. That means I don't need PGA level challenge when I play. Too often, this limits me to flat tracks, with parallel holes, and the same looks, over and over again. TC is no slouch for anyone, but gives even a semi-beginner a respectable shot of breaking 100. You don't see that on a course with that much variance in length, multiple water holes, and a few blind shots. I guess it's different in that while there are some big risk/reward plays (10, 13, 18) there usually a safe bail out as well. As a one-time country boy who moved to Philly, I understand that folks from 20 minutes west of the Turtle think it's pricey. Golf gets way cheaper once you hit Berks County. For those of us in Philly that are looking at a minimum of $50 weekday rates no matter what, Turtle Creek is a real stand out. read more

5/19/12 Course is in good shape. Wide open fairways, with some deep rough. A very walk-able course with some great twilight rates. I've played the course many times and enjoy it. The one problem I have with Turtle Creek is the lack of customer service recently experienced on a Sat morning. The woman behind the counter was rude and threaten to charge my credit card, since our foursome unexpectedly become a twosome. I understand that she wants to maximize her profit, but she handled the situation with such attitude, she lost a future customer in the process. What a dump. The greens had more ball marks than any course I've ever seen. The fairways were so-so. The round took over 5 hours, maybe since the greens were rock hard and you can't stop a good shot. Range next door is a joke. Mats are torn up, balls should be used to stop the oil spill. How they have the nerve to advertise this place as a top notch course is amazing. read more

This is a nice course. It's in very nice condition. The tees, fairways, bunkers, rough are all in good shape. At the end of the day you can certainly see all the spike marks on the greens. They are mostly in great shape even though they get a lotta play. 11 is an oddity, it's much MUCH slower than the rest of the greens. Probably because it's tucked in the trees but it's really really slow. I like the afternoon walking rate of 23$ but besides 10,11,12 (they are tree lined holes) and 18 it's not too much of a challenge. Pretty much wide open except for 10,11,12. I'll play it again for sure but it's not in my top 10. read more

I played Turtle Creek on June 13, 2015 with an approximately 8am tee time. I have played this course at least a dozen times before as it was the site of my former company's golf outing. I have played this course from the white and blue tees a number of times depending on who I played with. Pros: The course was in great shape as usual. The fairways and greens were well maintained. Holes 8 and 18 are two challenging and fun par 5s. They are two true risk-reward Par 5's that are all about how much danger you would like to bring into play with your second shot. TC is a course that can be played by all levels of players as it is not overly difficult. Cons: With the exception of holes 8 and 18, I find myself being bored while playing the course. There is no strategy to playing TC. Almost every hole is bang a driver as far as you can and then hit a wedge into the green. Three of the par 4's (7,10, and 12) are actually drivable with a good tee shot. Even though the course maintenance is great, I prefer courses that make you think. Overall, we finished the round right at 4 hours so the pace of play was good for a Saturday morning but I just can't see paying $68 a round for this course. For the same amount of money, you could play Raven's Claw or Lederach. For less money, you could go play Linfield National which is a shorter but more challenging course. read more

Overall, a decent place to play. Supposedly a links style course but after playing in England, this is definitely not a links course. A few challenging holes to keep you interested. 18 is fun to play...par 5 that is almost impossible to reach in 2. If you bomb your drive over 300 yards you end up with a downhill lie towards the green that is protected by a large pond. Even with a big drive, youre still 200-250 yards with no landing area to lay up. The rangers and starters are very nice, however, the $65 weekend fee is a little steep for such a pedestrian course. read more

I have played TC for a few years and it is one of my favorite courses. What some people need to understand is that is NOT a links style course...it is a MODIFIED links style course. There's a difference. The course is in fantastic condition. And for the amount of play it gets they do a great job of keeping it in good condition. The tee boxes are lush as is the fairways. The rough is challenging since there are not many trees on the course. But even the rough is in great shape. No weeds. The people there seem very nice. What amazes me is that during the season you will find a starter and at least one ranger on the course at all times. I was there once at 8:30 pm and there was still a ranger riding around. Can't say I see that on other courses. JM and BRIAN K have summed it up very well so I won't really repeat. read more

This is my favorite course to play on, the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and the course is absolutely beautiful. The fairways are well kept and the greens are perfect. The holes offer a bit of a challenge and the rough is very high. My only complaint is you will lose a Ton of balls just from rolling off the Fairway due to the rough height. Other than that I have no complaints. The carts are your basic carts and there is a driving range next door. I love turtle Creek and it is ranked as the 4th best public course in philly! read more
