I live just up the street from this place, and when I read they serve poke I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed. To order, you select the size, types of fish, toppings, sauces, and salads. However, I generally go with their recommended options for toppings because it seems thoughtfully measured. The fish is fresh, I personally loved the wasab-amole and seaweed salad as a topping (I would pass on the taro potato salad next time) and I love that the fish used is sustainable and that there are more options than just tuna and salmon. While the serving size is smaller than other Poke spots in town, I actually prefer the quality of ingredients over here at Turtle Boat over other spots. I never fancied myself a connoisseur of poke bowls, but I guess I have become one that knows enough to be dangerous. After eating poke coast to coast (including plenty in Hawaii), I always find myself craving Turtle Boat. They just give a damn. The brothers that own Turtle Boat take tremendous pride in every poke bowl they make. Making sure the protein, mix-ins and toppings are 'just so'. The base is always perfectly fresh with nice textured (I go with the brown rice and fresh greens combo) - rice is never old/crunchy and the greens are always fresh (and not wilted). Perhaps just as important, they take pride in sourcing the right ingredients (local whenever possible). Sometimes, they are so proud of their creation, they ask permission to take a photo of what they've made for me. Poke craftsman. Every time I eat Turtle Boat (which now must be 50+ times), I also feel really good afterwards. Poke City, BTW, is straight up garbage that is hastily thrown together with questionable ingredients - 'crap,' if you may. Just go support the Turtle Boat brothers. It's worth the drive. read more

The poke (Hawaiian style raw fish with interesting sauce, mix-in, and toppings) is extremely tasty and flexible, work for a variety of food restrictions, and come with rice or greens. You also get delicious sides with your poke bowl. I especially appreciate the genuine commitment to doing things ethically: I think all the seafood has a decent Monterey Bay Aquarium rating, some of it is local (including striped bass), and they sell a ton of really nice beverages from local makers. Stopped in here after driving by a week ago and noticing the new place. We were blown away! Love their platform of sustainable ingredients and local Colorado support. As my boyfriend put it "This place is painfully Colorado--in the best way!" The fish was fresh and delicious and the employees were really helpful and patient. The greens (grown 3 miles down the road) were so fresh you didn't need any dressing! It's a neat concept since you get to kinda design your own bowl with lots of cool toppings. The Poi'tato salad was really delicious and unique. Like a lot of what we ate, it was different but also familiar. I suppose that is why the owner asked me how I heard about them. With a 5 star average, many reviews, top search results for places near the Gothic, how could I not? I went with the 2 proteins, 2 sides with kanpachi and the Alamosa bass. I liked their mission of local sustainable fish and the idea of branching out. For sides, I went with the "taro"to salad and korean glass noodles. Who knows what toppings I chose. There were many questions asked and many delightful accoutrements dashed on. I wish it was slightfully more filling, but big PLUS for customer service. EDIT: Recently, I took my wife here and she really enjoyed it. She really noticed the difference in what they do here and said it felt more authentic than other "comparable" spots. read more

I love going there and just geeking out over how dedicated they are to rightfully sourced ingredients. I have recently moved about 40 minutes away and still won't stray to another place! They are worth every minute getting there!! Another big tip... my boyfriend has been mixing the house sauce and spicy mayo and LOVES it. Also, the new vegan soy free protein they created (Alma) is KILLER!! But I am still in love with the flavorful and moist tako! Loved it. We had lunch here today and were pleasantly surprised by the high quality food. Small setting on South Broadway is easy to miss. But once you try the food, you will be back. Amazing variety of toppings and sides. We started with ahi tuna and salmon, adding copia to the protein mix. The lettuce greens are local and fresh. So much care has been taken to insure all the ingredients are good -- this place reminds me of Japan in terms of effort put into the food. Turtle Boat is a hip poke restaurant on south Broadway with mural art from local artists and a focus on locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant is owned by 2 brothers who are always working hard to make their customers happy. They take the time to greet me every time I come in and seem to have a tremendous pride of ownership. I love that they source amazing local ingredients, including a local Colorado bass for their poke bowls. My only complaint about turtle boat is how slow the line can move. Even with just a few people in line it can be painful. If they could work out a way to get people through faster I think it could really benefit their business. read more

It's hard not to notice this joint from the outside the entire building is covered with rad murals and graffiti art. This is a staple local business since I live and work so close. It's super convenient for a work lunch because they build a custom poké bowl in front of you instantly and you can take it on the go. This restaurant is super environmentally aware and they always have great locally sourced ingredients and their takeout containers are all compostable.
