So I popped to the new Turtle Bay for a quick lunch having been interviewing all afternoon (basically I was starving and had lunch at 4pm - it was great to see that they served food all day) A growing chain from the same guys as Las Iguanas, it brings Caribbean food to the masses and like IG they do a good job in offering fresh ingredients, an exciting menu and an overall pleasant experience. It's all very 'authentic chainy' if that makes sense and you can see the owners are trying their best to make it seem really unique. This branch is much smaller than the one on Oxford Street but that's not such a bad thing as it seems quite intimate and was a nice place to hangout. There's a decent size bar to the front which makes it a cool place to hang. On this occasion I had the red snapper caribbean curry (£9.65) and it was fantastic - loads of veges, lovely rice and great spices - yum!

To celebrate a colleagues birthday we decided to pop to Turtle Bay in the NQ for lunch. I first went to Turtle Bay on Oxford Road soon after it opened last year and very much enjoyed their eats - I especially remember the whitebait starter being exceptionally good! I was expecting nothing less from the NQ branch and they did deliver. The space itself is very well decorated and the Jamaican theme is tastefully executed throughout, even down to the reggae music every part of the experience makes you feel like you're holidaying in the Caribbean. It was 2-4-1 on cocktails so after 2 Bahama Mama's came my way i decided to order the pulled chicken bun. It was good - the chicken was tender and flavoursome with a subtle taste of jerk seasoning. It was served with soft red onions on the bun too and was accompanied by fries and Caribbean slaw. The bottom of the bun was slightly soggy, making me think it was sat on the pass for a while, but because we were a party of 10 and they served us all together, I'll let this slide. It's a good place for some grub and gets quite lively at night too!

Upon entering this place you can see it has quite a relaxed, open planed feel to it. The staff are quick and happy to engage in conversation without giving you too much attention as well as being around most of the time to ensure a good service. There's a large selection of drinks and a smaller one of food, plenty of new cocktail ideas at a reasonable price and made on the bar for you to watch if desired. My only issue was the chips/fries - there was nothing so much wrong with them, just too hard and crunchy for my own taste. However the ribs were delicious.

We arrived, the service was impeccable. Our waiter, Cameron was particularly friendly. Our drinks order of ting and lemon soda arrived swiftly. Both of which I would recommend. Word of warning though, if you are sugar averse then ting may not be the drink for you! I ordered the one pot goat curry with sweet potatoe fries. The fries were simply delicious, piping hot, crispy on the outside potatoey on the inside. The flavours in the goat curry I ordered were amazing. However, what was less amazing was the vast amounts of fat and gristle I had in my dish. I'm no newbie to goat and so I know that the fat is what makes it extra delicious but I just didn't expect so much in the end dish. We also ordered plantain to share which were great and I can whole heartedly say you should try it. I'd definitely come back but maybe try a different one pot dish.

I heard this place did a 241 deal for drinks so I had to check it out! I also found out that they had plantains so I just to go and try their food. They have the typical tropical cocktails u can find in other bars. I ordered their version of piña colada. Their version had an interesting twist which included nutmeg so it gave it a nice punch. I got 2 for the price of one so I was all good! For food u ordered their jerk chicken with a side of plantains. My friend and I also ordered the BBQ ribs for starters. The ribs was good, spicy. The spices they use here for their food are those spices that punches the back of your throat. The ribs fell off the bone and had a sweet spicy flavour with orange bits. The chicken was cooked well. Nice, moist, and well seasoned. The chicken was grilled and drenched in sweet and spicy sauce. The chicken went well with the rice and beans. The plantains complemented this dish well since the bananas offset the spice from the chicken. Overall, the food was good. I'd come again to try their curry dish just to see how it taste and of course their 241 drinks deal!

A great place for some 2 for 1 cocktails at certain hours, but an even better place for some food. I've tried the Goat curry and the Jamaican Brown chicken, both delicious. A friend had ordered the fish curry, which looked amazing, definitely having that next time. This branch of Turtle Bay is much smaller than their other one on Oxford St. Despite this, I was surprised that they won't take bookings for more than 8 people, and the online booking process only allows a maximum of 6. I had the responsibility of choosing and booking somewhere for a meal out from work and as there were 7 of us this had to be done over the phone. However, not a problem, communication was good. I received an email with a booking reference and a menu. For ease, we pre-ordered our food and I emailed this to them two days beforehand. This worked brilliantly and the order was completed with no mistakes, complications or confusion. The cocktails are nice, though they don't taste overly alcoholic, I think that the amount of alcohol in them is a lot more measured than might at first appear. I think I'll just drink pints of Red Stripe in future. Lovely decor which is done in a style to make you feel like you're sat outside somewhere in the Caribbean. The perfect antidote to a cold dark wet Manchester evening!

Passion fruit cooler...amazing

I love the one on Oxford Road so I was ecstatic when I discovered one had launched on Oldham Street (less walking). The service was impeccable, from start to finish and the two for one cocktails is on pretty much all of the time, which are strongly and tastily made. Anyway, this place offers from squid to pork cheeks.. this time I had the Escondido? Fish while my companion had half a seasoned chicken.. this was not for the faint hearted as you do get served a whole fish, I had to ask for a plate to balance the head , tail and other fishy boney bits on but this was provided promptly.. Noming through these we spotted the cheesecake and rum cake for dessert, the rum cake was light, airy and flavoursome...mine was not but the dessert cocktails made up for it.. Once again the bill came to a good value price of £50 which is excellent for 6 drinks, main and dessert each. I would recommend coming here if you haven't tried Caribbean food before.I won't lie, it not the best you will ever have but for a chain who offers great service and diversity I would come on down..

Pulled chicken bun and sweet potatoe fries

I've been here a couple of times now and I prefer the cocktails over the food. I've had the chicken one pot before which was a bit meh and this time round I got the pulled chicken bap with sweet potatoe fries. The fries were yummy! But the bap was soggy and I had to add BBQ sauce to enhance the flavour of the pulled chicken which was a little dry. I prefer the interior and location of this T B in comparison to the one on Oxford Rd. It is smaller so it gets booked up quicker but it just feels nicer to me. They have out door seating too. I would like to add that my in laws are from the Caribbean so I'm used to tasty, authentic Jamaican home cooking which probably affects my judgement here. Turtle Bay isn't authentic Caribbean cuisine in my opinion but hey, clearly a lot of people love it so they must be doing something right. The cocktails and wines are on buy one get one free from 5-7pm, win win! All the cocktails are £6.95. I have tried almost all the cocktails on the menu already (don't judge me) but my favourite is the vanilla and passion fruit mojito. Perfect summer beverage.

We came here on a Saturday evening after making a booking through their website. I was glad because it was sooooo busy! But in a great buzzing kind of way with cocktails being whizzed around to their tables and great music playing loudly. The place smelled of jerk chicken and stews! The service was good and the portions were just right. Definitely go for the jerk chicken! Not a restaurant to go to for a quiet romantic meal but definitely a great place for good food with a party vibe!

Popped in here on a night out for cocktails, thought they were always 2-4-1 but turns out they were back on at 10pm and I coincidentally arrived at 9.55pm, RESULT! Waiting time wasn't too bad considering happy hour on a Saturday night. Managed to get a table by some miracle too. Can't recommend Jamaican mule (like a Moscow mule but with rum and ginger beer) or Mai Tai enough. Delicious! And strong. But worth a bad head the next day!

Caribbean Flavas - Jerk Chicken and Rice on the bone "apparently"

Caribbean Flavas

If you are a fan of original Caribbean food, NEVER EVER order food from here…read more The food is absolutely disgusting. Their jerk chicken and rice tastes like CRAP. They should BAN this place. The food is terrible. Tasteless and flavorless. Biggest waste of 31£ of my life, literally took a bite and SPAT it out. I came back late from work and was feeling some Caribbean food and my usual spot was closed so I thought let me try this place. The biggest f*ckin mistake I've made in 2024. I repeat DO NOT order this or go to this FAKE Caribbean place. They need to change the name because this is definitely not Caribbean food... TRUST ME.

This is my choice for 'afternoon tea' before boarding the train at Salford Central. Two sweet…read moredumplings and three plantain chips for a £1, plus a glass of tap water to wash it down is a great reviver. The dumplings are dense, chewy, crunchy; plantain is like fried banana but denser - taste them and you will understand why both are Caribbean staples. Their stews look really flavourful, authentic, and made of the good stuff, although unfortunately for me none of the stews is vegetarian. However, Caribbean Flavas already offer vegetable pasties, two kinds of rice & beans, and a 'Rasta Pasta' dish so I think offering one vegetarian main dish in a sauce could make sense. What do you think - inbox me if you agree! The owner is a really friendly and chilled even in the face of a pack of ten skaters mobbing the place or people talking on their mobile while ordering - I wish him well!

Mama Flo's is a nice little neighbourhood restaurant serving Jamaican cuisine. I've been meaning to…read morepop in for a while because I'm missing my regular jerk chicken fix at Buzzrocks. There's only a few tables to dine in but it's open till 9.30pm which is great. There are some (inadvertently) hilarious thank you letters from school children on the wall: my personal favourite says "Your beef batty is tasty." I tried a saltfish fritter for the first time which had a perfect mix of crispy batter and soft filling, would recommend it. The jerk chicken was very different from what I am used to at Buzzrocks. The sauce at Buzzrocks is very thick and in fact solidifies when you put it in the fridge (i.e. the secret to its deliciousness is that it's basically just fat). At Mama Flo's the sauce is thin liquid. It's got a good spicy favour but I miss the indulgent richness. Also although it's more expensive there was less chicken, it was a little dry and the rice and peas were a bit overcooked (fluffy). Unfortunately for me they were out of plaintain so I'll have to pop to try it and maybe sample one of the other dishes - at Buzzrocks I was never very adventurous about trying to the curry or fried chicken etc because the jerk sauce was so addictive but here I will keep sampling the full menu! Carrot cake was ok but a bit dry and was not the best icing.

Amazing place this. Food is plentiful and well priced. Service is a genuine joy. Will certainly be…read morecalling in again.
