I tried a few unique pieces such as dark chocolate cranberry pecan turtle and a blondie (chocolates dipped penuche ). Also a caramel filled non parrell. I'll be back. read more

Turtle Alley Chocolates - A 1/2 pound selection of assorted yummies. - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Gloucester, Massachusetts

Turtle Alley Chocolates are SO SO good. It's worth the drive and also worth ordering online to ship to someone as a gift! I live 50 minutes away and will take the ride just to grab my cashew clusters and drive back home. They're that good. I've gifted a box of their turtle clusters for my mom's birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas, and Valentines. Truly it's the perfect gift if you're on the hunt for good quality chocolate. Everything is made in-house and it tastes oh so good. They've also got fudge, Carmel, chocolate, candy, and more. There's so much to choose from in this cute store! read more

Decent selection! So far they have been pretty tasty! Not the best I have ever had... but worth the trip!

I have an addiction for turtle alley. Their chocolates they make are unbelievable. Unfortunately I don't live around there so I can't have it much but it's always a treat when I am around there. The Magic moment, uptown payday and hot honey carmel are amazing! I always get overwhelmed by the insane amount of options they have. I always have to get a medium! The staff are super nice, i definitely recommend coming here! read more

I had received their turtles as a gift in the past and decided to order online for shipping. The chocolate arrived promptly and is delicious. Try the macadamia nut turtles in both milk and dark chocolate. They are awesome! The fudge is also very good. read more

I have been ordering 2lb boxes of turtles for years from this shop. Five times a year, totaling an expenditure of $250+. Though their chocolates are lovely, I had the unpleasant experience of trying to order with the "owner who makes the chocolates ". It is obvious she shouldn't be answering the phone as she's "too busy". Her rudeness was beyond belief. I guess she doesn't care about her loyal customers Or their income read more

Probably Some of the worst customer service or probably the worst customer service experience I've ever had anywhere. The owner had the rudest most sarcastic and unpleasant and unprofessional attitude an owner could have talking too customers asking questions over the phone or in the store. I will never ever come back or order or buy anything from this place ever again. read more

What a cute and fun candy and confections store. Located right on across from the Gloucester House and 7 Seas Whale Watch, this is a fun place to satisfy your sweet teeth. Lots of chocolates, chocolate barks, turtles, jelly candies, marzipan, peanut butter cups, caramels and other sweets in the case and a fun assortment of other sugary delights prepackaged. My daughter went straight for the Pop Rocks and chocolate lobster lollipops. The staff was very friendly and was very knowledgeable about their offerings. Just smelling the chocolatey deluciousness by entering the shop made me gain weight! Definately a good place for tourists. You can even watch them make the turtles, which seems to be their signature offering. Check them out! You'll be glad you did! read more

Long ago I worked in a chocolate shop and thought I had tasted the best chocolate anywhere. My sister lived in Belgium and Switzerland for over a decade, so I got to taste chocolate from well known shops. I feel like I'm pretty good at judging chocolate. Turtle Alley is definitely THE BEST that I've had in the area. If you love coconut, try the Needham. The dark chocolate sea salt caramels are Amazing. The staff has ALWAYS been super friendly and efficient. This year I purchased their Advent calendars for kids and adults. My only regret is that I didn't buy one for myself. Enjoy the art and the cherry tomatoes:)! I LOVE this place!!!! read more

Delicious chocolates. Obviously from their name, you can tell what they're famous for.....their turtles. A little pricey but you can see everything being homemade in the shop so you know it's fresh and worth the money. read more

Stopped here while visiting Gloucester. My friend loves chocolate and so do I so I was really excited when I walked in. You literally see the workers making chocolate as soon as you step in. I bought a few Chocolates, Caramels, and Candy and they were all pretty good! read more

This place is great place for Ginger Candy before you get on a whale watch! It really works! They have other great stuff too!

When my family visited Salem a few years ago I brought back Turtle Alley Chocolates to my co-workers who raved about them. Lately, my sister has been working hard on some family matters so I wanted to send her a treat and chose Turtle Alley. She has declared that the peanut cups should be illegal. I ordered by phone, the service was courteous. The person who took my order went out of her way to explain that the order would not be shipped until after the weekend. read more

The other day when I was in Gloucester I stopped into Turtle Alley Chocolates. I've always walked by this place and I am so glad that I finally went. I got the milk chocolate toffee, my mom got the milk chocolate turtle, and my brother got a peanut butter cup. We all loved our chocolates and our sweet tooth's were cured. read more

My cousin and her boyfriend came back from their trip to Massachusetts a week ago from a Thanksgiving weekend. They brought back gifts and Turtle Alley was one of them. Turtle Alley's turtle cluster chocolates are amazing! Made with fresh, quality ingredients in small hand crafted batches, if you like chocolate in general; you're bound to fall in love with Turtle Alley instantly. My favorite has to be the cashew turtles with any type of chocolate. If I ever venture out into MA, I'll definitely come to this store to try more of their concoctions! read more

i grew up on nichol's chocolates (as my mom worked there for a bit), so i originally felt like a traitor going to turtle alley. here's the thing, though... turtle alley really shouldn't be overlooked. this is some serious serious stuff. the lovelies at turtle alley have the golden ticket recipe for chocolate, and they come up with some amazing concoctions. as much as i cringe at the term, i would consider myself a chocoholic. i am an extremely healthy eater, but i'm not thin because i need chocolate several times a day. this is real. turtle alley makes excellent, smooth chocolate that makes mainstream, brand name chocolate taste and feel all chalky and gross. the turtles are UNREAL. the non-sticky caramel and the salty nuts and the perfect portion of chocolate on the top and the bottom make for an amazing treat. i'm a big fan of the almond bark, and basically anything they serve covered in milk chocolate. HA. i can't even narrow it down. the dark chocolate is good too, btdubs, but i just really like their milk chocolate. they have a ton of different options, and at one point they had a chipotle turtle, which was FANTASTIC. everyone is super friendly at both turtle alley locations. it was absolutely dreadful living down the street from turtle alley. i'd walk to the train station before they opened and get back into gloucester after they closed. torture. stupid 12.5 hour work day. make sure to check out turtle alley around fiesta time. they do a chocolate-covered greasy pole display in the window. it's super cute. read more

Fabulous! My husband is a Nichols fanatic, but I am firmly in the Turtle Alley camp. Friendly staff and fascinating candy-making machines dripping with molten chocolate. Try their spicy chipotle bark and chipotle turtles. read more

What a disappointing end to an otherwise lovely day out in Gloucester. Visiting Gloucester from New Zealand on a beautiful Fall day I couldn't get over what a lovely town it was with outstanding service everywhere we went. Until we went here that is. We bought a mixture of chocolate, fudge, and some of their sweets. These were all priced at different amounts per pound - information that was clearly advertised in multiple signs around the shop. However, the woman who served us elected to charge us at the highest price for the mixture ($24/pound vs the $8/pound the majority of the items should have been....) and when questioned on this said it was what they did if you had a mixture. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she was too lazy to separate the chocolates etc - I feel this is preferable to straight dishonest? Anyway, I would not return here. She was rude and their product is good but not worth paying 3x the price. read more

Very poor customer service from the owner. Too bad as chocolate is very good but I will never return and will tell everyone who will listen about the owner's poor treatment of customers read more

Any time my family and I head up to Gloucester we always end up getting something from Turtle Alley. Consistently wonderful people serving a consistently wonderful product. Each of us has our favorites and there is always something new to try. The reason I feel compelled to write the review is that we had never had anything shipped before. We and had a very last minute request for party favors that were reasonably priced and made it on time for the party. Another great experience. Truly great service is difficult to find. Truly great service combined with a truly great product is noteworthy. Make a note of it! read more

I had the good fortune to find this treasure last week. I was staying in Rockport and usually head to Bear Skin Neck for treats to bring home. Being busy catching up with family that I went to visit, I didn't have the opportunity to do so. On the last day of my brief vacation, I had a meal with my aunt in Gloucester and decided to do some quick shopping there, before heading home. I was on the main street in downtown Gloucester & asked a store owner if there was a candy store in the area. He told me that Turtle Alley was on the next street over, parallel from where I was. If you like Reese's, you must try their peanut butter balls. Amazing!! I had the milk chocolate. I've tried a lot of chocolate peanut butter candies and these were the best. The buttercrunch was also excellent (I chose the dark chocolate, but they have milk chocolate as well). I also enjoy coconut, and purchased dark chocolate coconut "haystacks" and also a Mounds-type candy. They are chocolate overload....you could have one piece at two different sittings....half a portion is more than enough sweetness! They also have penny candy (my kids, although grown, still like the memories of candy necklaces, candy dots that you eat off the paper, and rock candy on a stick) & some novelty items. It was my last stop before heading home on a 2-hour trip. The non-pareils and turtles were calling me during my drive (everything, pretty much, is available in dark & milk chocolate). The girl that waited on me was very patient & pleasant, and a young man who was making candy, greeted me as soon as I walked in the door, as he was closest to the entrance. I will make a point to go back here when I visit the area in the future. Enjoy!!! read more
