The Organic Juice Company is bursting with healthiness and just stepping through the door into their fruit-filled cavern makes you feel fitter before you've even tasted a glass. They offer some classic and more innovative combinations, packing in fruit and veggies and helping you get your five-a-day without a struggle. I've never had a juice or smoothie from here that's been less than delicious, and some of the smoothies are like a meal in themselves. By far the best place to get a healthy drink in the city centre. If you want to juice at home, they also sell a comprehensive range of equipment including juicers, distillers, sprouting kits, and other related products

Sadly, there really isn't great competition where healthy fruit juices are concerned here in the capital. Lilo on City Road do a limited number of good juices, but they aren't organic like the ones here. What makes The Organic Juice Co so good is a combination of things. Their set-up is amazing for a start, making the production of fruit juices and smoothies a walk in the park. Secondly, they manage to make even the most healthful drinks taste good... which is no mean feat! I reckon that this is because they use all organic produce, making the veggies as well as the fruit taste both sweeter and more tasty. The most important factor is however, that they know precisely what they are doing. This is ultimately what sets them apart from the rest, and easily wins my vote of confidence. Highly recommended!

Oasis Juice And Sandwich Bar is the best of a poor bunch, offering a reasonable selection of juices that are made with decent enough fruit. Personally I would like to see a broader selection of juices that truly focussed on the health benefits as well as the taste, but perhaps there's not enough call for this in Roath, so their hands may be tied. I often call in at juice bars elsewhere to get a wheatgrass shot or a revitalising vitamin hit with the added extra antioxidant components of acai or spirulena etc... and this is the direction that I'd like to see Oasis Juice And Sandwich Bar go in. They've got a solid enough foundation, I think they just need to build on it. Again, in my personal opinion there is sufficient call for it, especially of they market it correctly. I used to work at an office that was a two minute walk from an excellent juice bar, and I used to visit it three times a week, spending on average ten pounds a pop. For this I would get the most expensive healthful juice, a wrap and a latte... perfect! I offset the damage I was doing with the coffee by investing in the juice! Oasis Juice And Sandwich Bar offer panini's, wraps, baguettes etc, as well as tea and coffee. They really possess in a similar set-up, and so there's definitely scope for achieving the same ends... and without expending too much effort or suffering too much additional expense...

You can't mis sthe place thanks to its bright orange, green and white sign - sandwiched in between far less eye-catching shops on either side. They have a good range of different juice recipes and combinations, although they don't seem to offer so many of the 'health-boosting' shots that you find in more serious juice bars. They also sell paninis, baguettes, wraps and sandwiches with a fair choice of fillings, as well as hot drinks such as tea and coffee.

Jet lag usually means copious amounts of coffee to keep me moving and I decided to walk after breakfast to Coffee #1 to get my third (don't judge) fix of the day all before noon. I walked in and immediately wished I had more time to sit and read a book or people watch because it was a nice space that wasn't too crowded and had the hum of the espresso and frothing machines and the chatter of people enjoying their mornings. I was greeted and thanked warmly by the NICEST barista ever. I mean I got a "have a wonderful day luv" as I eagerly accepted my tumeric latte. None of the air of snobbery that a good coffee can be accompanied by at some places. And that's right. TURMERIC LATTE. Is it a health trend? Probably-- but I haven't seen one on any cafe menus in the US of late so I was excited to see it this morning. It tastes like a warm and less sweet Christmas morning. Notes of ginger and cinnamon? Nutmeg? I'm not sure what other things infuse my drink but it's perfect for the dreary day. A large turmeric latte and a croissant all under 5 pounds. Not too expensive and served with the friendliest smiles. Highly recommend Coffee #1. A short walk from the Hilton if you decide to try something other than Costa in the hotel.

This place lives up to its name!…read more I have to start by saying I am not a native to Cardiff, or even Wales, but the coffee made here it amazing! Way better than most of the "same level" places I get in Los Angeles. The UK has real skills in regard to hot drinks! As a first-time tourist coming to the UK, you BET I've already tried your chain coffee houses: Costa, Cafe Nero, Cafe Ritazza, Starbucks, etc. Out of all of them, Coffee #1 is my favorite, and this location is especially nice! The decor is feels like going to a country cottage: comfy chairs, weathered wooden tables, stools, books, potted plants, etc. The space is very clean and inviting, with lots of spaces to not only enjoy your coffee but to have a moment to relax. The service at the Coffee #1's I've been to have been stellar and this location was no exception. I don't know how else to explain it better than Coffee #1's own hiring poster: "We hire personalities". I don't remember the semantics exactly but that was the idea. You can totally tell they hire friendly, smart, interesting people. I think I had a conversation with each barista and they were absolutely delightful. Oh, and the coffee. I already miss this coffee. I am normally a cappuccino gal, but Coffee #1 really turned me onto the Flat White. Coming from America, this drink isn't common here at all, but it's a new favorite of mine. Each time I've had the special Guatemala beans that are a special roast right now, and the flavor of the coffee brew from them is stellar. The flavor is fruity, rich and full bodied. Heaven in a cup. I couldn't get enough of it. Love, love, LOVE! I wish I had a Coffee #1 in Los Angeles! Any change you can open on here? ;)

I've been coming her for over 5 years now, this is my local Coffee Shop…read more What sets it apart from the other nearby Cafes is it's abundance of external seating. Making it one of the few central Cafes where you can sit outside in nice weather and not be surrounded by booze or loud music like most of the Seafront venues. The staff are very friendly and provide an excellent service. Even going so far as to go across the street to source ingredients for what you order if they have run out. And they bring the order to your table, meaning you don't have to stand around waiting for your drink and then carry a heavy tray through the Cafe (Like a certain nearby major chain...) The food here is quite expensive, but the reasonable price of the Coffee makes up for that. The cups are large and they don't hold back on how much Coffee you get for your money. They offer a large range of Food, Drinks and Cakes. Also offering a 'specials' menu on juices and smoothies on occasion. I'm not a fan of those myself but my partner enjoys them and is impressed on their variety. Their opening times can vary throughout the year, I am never too sure on when they officially open or close. Sometimes they've closed at 5 and sometimes I've seen them close at 3:30. This may be dependant on weather, time of year or just how much custom there is. I only wish they would stay open a little later as I find myself having to relocate across the street when they close as I enjoy a late afternoon Coffee. Overall I would recommend Coco's over the other Coffee shops in the area, they provide a personal service and great drinks for a very reasonable price.

It wasn't going to get away that easily as I wanted to have some more of their delicious smoothies. Think of all your favourite fruits blended into a fresh ice-cold smoothie. It just makes me thirsty thinking about it. Yummy! Ever since St David's went under construction this smoothie bar kept moving around and even had lots of construction work surrounding it. It hardly seems fair, as all the other stores were not surrounded by anything at all. Did people have a grudge against this little place? Did they really not want us to have fruit as part of out 5 a day? Or maybe this was a very unlucky bar. But now the construction has been lifted and the bar has moved right opposite the build a bear workshop. They serve very nice tasting smoothies that are also good for you. The colours and flavours all mixed into one drink will have you charged with that vitamin C your body desires. You also have a choice of what fruit and what size so it's all down to you! Vive Smoothie Bar should hopefully stay where it is permanently so it can give you the fruit fix that you want. Long live Vive!

This place is very much focused on fresh, healthy smoothie recipes, rather than drinks that look and taste good but actually contain concentrated fruit juice or fruit purées - and all juices and smoothies are made-to-order in front of the customer. Drinks containing yoghurt use natural, bio live yoghurt and all their milk is organic. The super detox smoothie makes you feel better after a late night, but the Berry Berry is my favourite. They also do 'booster' shots for 50p each - such as an energy booster or a stress-buster. It's a well-located place to get a healthy, refreshing drink and work towards your five-a-day, instead of grabbing a calorie-laden, sugar-filled Frappuccino - although there's a place for that, too!

This colourful, vibrant and eccentric little milkshake bar can give you the sugar rush that you need when you have a down day! Located in Queens Arcade on the ground floor tucked away in the corner this place holds all the sweet flavours that a sweet craving ten year old child can only dream of. I'm twenty-one and I still get excited when I visit there for my sugar rush. I personally go for the wonderful skittles milkshake. You may think that sounds a little bizarre but trust me; you must try it! What I like so much about this milkshake bar is that it will blend anything and mix any combination of flavours you desire. You want a jelly tots milkshake mixed with a bounty? Well they will blend it for you. Do you want an apple pie milkshake? Yes, you read correct: Apple pie! You name it and they will do it. As if every flavour wasn't enough they do offer an option of Soya milk, organic milk, and skimmed milk if you fancy a little less fat, but with a shake like this what is the point? Live a little! I should mention the price of the shakes. They are certainly not cheap. The price of sugar must have gone up these days. I paid £2.50 for a small shake, granted it gave me the sugar rush I wanted but I still thought it was a little pricey. Overall this milkshake bar offers all the sweet flavours of any candy bar into one tasty shake. They offer a loyalty card if you want to keep coming back and packing your body full of sugar and you can even take your own mix of sweets and turn it into sugary goodness. Now go get a rush!
