We have been asked multiple times how we learned such a complex showstopper dance. I had never really done any sort of dancing before, and we had selected a waltz. Instantly, we were impressed at how effective of a teacher Meg was, making complex movements seem easy. More importantly, she put me at complete ease. Our weekly dance practices ended up being the highlight of our week. She broke down everything into basics and helped create and teach the choreography in chunks. As the weeks progressed, we decided to add more length to the song since we were enjoying it so much. She worked on creating the mix and crafted the additional choreography as well. We then decided to practice with our actual wedding clothes on as well, and we learned limitations two weeks before the wedding date. Meg helped us find professional dance shoes and adapted the choreography to work around those limitations, completely making the song feel comfortable even in the limited movement of the clothing. Throughout these lessons, Meg was extremely flexible in scheduling and often going out of the way to work around our travel. She even helped us book a time slot when the entire studio was empty so that we could practice our dance using the whole space in private. Her and the rest of the instructors were warm, welcoming, and caring. We honestly had such a great time that we are thinking about going back to learn other dances as well.

For the classes my daughter is in they do a recitals every other year which is perfect because it gives time to work on skills. The older kids are also always so kind and helpful with the younger dancers. We were also at a different studio when our daughter was really young and my wife and I felt the older girls performances and costumes were overly sexualized. Because I didn't want to put my 5 year old in the street walker makeup that was recommended for recital, I was told that my daughter couldn't participate in the group picture because she would not be "uniform and the other parents would complain." I'm sure that other parents are like me and don't care what other children in the picture look like as long as their kid is cute. We are African American and my daughter's hair is not the slick-back-into-a-ponytail kind of hair. They made a point to say that no one should have braids or beads. No beads, I understand. But let's be reasonable about the hair. The teachers constantly talk to the student, not their parent, about things they should not serving to alienate them from their classmates. While they do this, they hide behind the statement that they are "teaching more than just dance steps." Well, they are right about that. They are teaching them that to take a stand for what they believe in could cause them to be ousted from the group and that what they hold as a personal or religious standard is inferior to the need to have uniformity in a group. If you care at all about your daughter's emotional well-being, do not take them to this dance school.

Lifeguards every few feet from you - and I actually love that those teenagers bark at other teens, some as old as them, when they're not following rules, ie encroaching on someone else's safety. High and low dive and a pontoon teens can swim 50 yards over 15' to 18' deep water to hang out with friends and no parents ( the pontoon reminds me of penguins or seals on one their annual remotely and isolated beaches - I'm confident similar biological urges are play for them as well ). There's a rigorous swim test for younger youth, which is perfect bc I'd only feel comfortable with smaller sized kids 50 yards out on the pontoon with twelve to fifteen 16 yo boys and four to five teen females. Every part of the beach area, water and the common ground where hundreds of families chill all day on Sat and Sun. Love it.

When we arrived, we noticed a large crowd gathered outside. We walked up to the admissions area, where an employee informed us that the facility had reached capacity due to a major swim event. Because of this, they were only allowing season pass holders to enter and were not selling day passes. We completely understand that facilities have occupancy limits and appreciate the staff for enforcing them. Our frustration is with the lack of communication beforehand. A major event with limited public access should have been clearly posted on the website well in advance so families wouldn't make the trip unnecessarily. To make matters more confusing, the hours listed on Apple Maps and Google Maps were inaccurate, and the website was difficult to navigate. The notice about the capacity restrictions wasn't posted until about an hour before we were turned away. While we were there, we heard several other families expressing the same frustration. No hard feelings toward the employees--they were simply doing their jobs. However, the organization behind the website and event planning should do a much better job communicating closures, capacity limits, and special events to the public.

Located on the Naperville / Oswego border where 95th St dead-ends into Wolf's Crossing Rd, this public park incorporates 33 acres of carefully planned and meticulously maintained space. It's the perfect answer when asked by your kid for the umpteenth time "wHaT aRe wE dOoOiNg ToDaY?" This complex features a playground, splash pad, covered pavilion, basketball courts, sand volleyball, tennis/pickleball courts, a lookout point with sledding hill and a ninja warrior obstacle course. It connects to various biking trails and there's onsite public bathrooms with plenty of parking. The ~100ft zipline is a standout feature and draws a considerable line on busier days. Watching kids nearly get yeeted off into the bushes makes for great theater! I assume the weight limit is 200lbs so next time I'ma have a go at it (get outta my way, kids!) The only thing missing is concessions, as the lone pop machine near the restrooms didn't appear to work. I think there's enough people here on a routine basis to warrant building a snack shop! I'd love to serve nachos and root beer to hungry peeps, as long as I got paid $25/hr. * TL;DR * This idyllic, multi-faceted rec area is fully deserving of its perfect rating. Wolf's Crossing Community Park was built with young children and special accommodations in mind, easily accessible to all ages & abilities. The fam spent several hours here (granted, most of them were confined to the splash pad) and we barely scratched the surface. I can't wait to beast through that legit obstacle course some day when I remember to wear close-toed shoes. Ain't no way my clumsy ass is making it through there in flip flops. WCCP has tons of what we in the gaming realm refer to as "replayability", essentially, is there enough stuff to do on repeat visits? You bet there is!
