Unlike other support groups that you sit around in a circle and hash out your war stories for 3 hours ( which is helpful to no one) this facility treats the whole person. with on-site doctors, behavioral specialists, psychologists, and an easy flexible schedule for folks who have to work and have a family. Other places are so regimented it's almost impossible to have a full-time job and get help.. not here.. The staff is so caring and the owner is one of a kind gem, Michelle really cares about us all... I have never felt more supported and loved :) thank you Pathways!!!!

She (my friend) met with them only to be pressured to join their program and going so far as to convey she would never get better if she refused to join. Now, I know some programs are great in helping someone in need, however, everyone is different!! What works for one person may not work for another. My friend was very willing to work with a therapist with Pathways (that willingness is 1/2 the battle and should be seized upon!) but on her own terms...not in a program that was so extensive that she'd have to miss work. They did not seem to like that. I find that odd to say the least. My friend had lots of questions that were met with lots of words but none of which answered those questions. Vague answers are NOT a good sign of a counseling center you could trust. Transparency is crucial! Another concern...no follow-up. Promises of calling my friend were unmet. When she called them they said they had called and left a voicemail. She checked and saw no indication of a call from them. Despite this my friend tried again speaking with a representative at Pathways but again no help. I don't know if places such as Pathways Real Life Recovery are regulated. If they're not they certainly should be! Read past employee reviews on Indeed...kinda scary. As far as I'm concerned, they failed my dear friend. Glad they may have helped others but if I were you I'd investigate this place thoroughly before getting involved with them.

Three months later at family week we are able to talk, sit on the same sofa, and he's apologized for all that happened and will express love. The family support groups are very supportive. You don't feel like you're all alone or that your child is the only one. The staff on the therapy side have been very communicative and supportive in putting in place plans to advance. The kids even enjoy just about all of the staff when they are being honest. I've seen kids go from being alone and unable to communicate to being able to communicate and hold themselves accountable. They also have a school program the kids are enrolled into so they do not miss any school. This also helps parents work with the school to get this type of treatment paid for when insurance will not. The one thing I wish was better was communication with the medical professionals. We have been trying to get to speak to the doctor about changes in his medication and it's been impossible even with the therapist seeing them a message each week during the weekly session. Overall we have been down this road before but this time it seems like he's actually getting skills and progress that will last.

While there were aspects of my time at Youth Care that were useful for me, my overall experience was horrid. In February Of 2001 my parents where at their wits end and talked to an educational consultant who recommended this facility. I was skipping school, running away, and in and out of psychiatric hospitals. My parents hired a bounty hunter company to surprise me in the middle of the night in my bedroom while I was sleeping, handcuff me, and put me on an airplane headed to Utah. This was a direct recommendation of the Youth Care facility. I was at this facility for 2.5 years. The treatment team "didn't feel comfortable" graduating me. In the summer of 2003 the treatment team told my parents "there was nothing more they could do for me." Three months later, my parents finally pulled me out. I developed a very hopeless and pessimistic attitude towards my future and my life while in this place. Phone calls were monitored and staff would hang the phone up for me if I wanted to talk to my parents about anything negative having to do with Youth Care. I roomed with skinheads, violent kids, and other troubled youth. One of my most vivid memories was a scandal involving one of my friends and a staff member who made my friend walk naked in front of him at least a couple times. In addition, there were two different instances I was made aware of where 2 separate adult male staff members groomed and sexually pursued a 14-year-old female patient, and in another case of 16-year-old female patient. In both of these cases, the staff members were fired when the scandals were brought to light, but no legal action was ever pursued against these offenders. It seemed to me at the time, and still seems to me that Youth Care didn't want that sort of publicity. I believe that they tried to keep it hush-hush as the police where never involved/called but the kids affected (my peers) had to meet at least once with lawyers representing Youth Care privately. I developed unhealthy eating habits which turned into an eating disorder that I still have to this day, and a life long resentment for my family for sending me to such a awful place. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I have gone through years of family counseling with my parents to get to a point where we can communicate effectively and lovingly again. When someone asks me how my high school experience was, I don't have much to say, because I felt like I was in juvenile prison, as my experience at Youth Care was very similar to that. Lastly, I would like to point out as I am looking through these reviews that it is apparent to me that most of the positive reviews of Youth Care are paid promotion. That's right, you can pay a PR company to leave positive reviews for your company to offset the many negative reviews from actual patients. -David

Like I totally understand that he needs to take responsibility for his part in this and he has he's been in treatment for two months, which I'm also paying for from this doctors offices screw up on prescribing an addict their drug of choice but for them to not take any kind of accountability for putting my family in this situation by even offering an addict their DOC like wtf is wrong with you guys, I didn't even get any kind of apology for their screw up on their end, but after finding out they called in a refill weeks after they were aware of what happened on May 16th I'm going to be contacting an attorney cause this is just straight up negligence at this point and I'm absolutely disgusted that this doctor has a license still

I was seen by therapists and an in-house doctor and guided by selfless volunteer helpers as well as my peers. I stayed mostly sober for a couple years after Journey then had a major life change and went back out for a couple more years, then I found myself back on the path of sobriety. If it wasn't for Journey there's no way I would have decided to keep heading towards a sober and peaceful life. Today I can proudly say I am 11 months sober and looking forward to my first full year sober. (I've basically sober for a few years - with a few slips here and there). But this is my longest consecutive stint. Journey catapulted me down this path of sobriety, it was upon entering Journey that I first made the decision that I was going to do this thing for real. I may not have gotten it right away but all the tools I learned during my stay are what I used to get me to where I am today and I remember the staff like family. The rooms are so beautiful, the beds are elegant and so comfy with high quality amenities and the food is excellent. The grounds were magical. I loved everything about my stay. I met my best friend for life at Journey. After our time there we kept in contact, we started dating then took a couple years apart to work on our own paths... and one day he got me back, we dated for a bit longer then he brought me to the back of journey - where we first met in the summer of 2013, it was now all covered in snow, I didn't recognize it at all, it was the day after thanksgiving 2020... He surprised me in the middle of winter, it was closed down at this time, once I took off the blindfold and recognized where he had brought me he proposed, in the exactl places we were when our eyes first met and now we are happily walking the path of sobriety as a married couple!!! Thank you Journey, you changed my life!
