I'm very disappointed to have to write this review because I liked Travis and was hopeful I had found a good mechanic. But I'm left really regretting I chose to take a chance on someone I found off Google. I thought I was saving money, but it is ending up costing me way more.
My Jeep was leaking radiator fluid... I decided to try a mobile mechanic so I wouldn't have to drive it to a shop. I was very happy Travis said he could come the same day. He was very personable when he came to do the diagnostic during the heat of the day... his prices were very good, and he said he could come back and tackle the repair that evening. He had only been a mechanic for 5 yrs, but had recently done the exact repair on another Jeep like mine.
Travis left to get the part and brought back another guy to help him later. They worked on it for quite awhile and then told me he needed to replace something else as well. This was disappointing because it was now a pretty expensive repair, but I was thankful I was still saving so much by not going to the dealership.
He had to go get another part and when they came back we had to shine some lights since it was dark by then. When they finally finished, I reminded him about the nail he found in my tire, and he fixed that and filled the tires. He also did a diagnostic of other issues I was having, but thought the warning lights would disappear once I started driving.
Unfortunately, the warning lights never disappeared and the other issues were still present (but it was no longer leaking radiator fluid, which was the first reason I had called him). Then, when I got on the Turnpike, something flew off my Jeep. It was the right wheel moulding. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was a random thing, not related to them working on the Jeep. But a week later when I was again on the highway, the wheel moulding on the other side flew off. It is clear they forgot to fasten it correctly after completing the repair (they had taken everything apart to access the radiator).
We all make mistakes, and given that it was late and dark, I thought I'd give him a chance to make up for it. Travis assured me he would take care of it . I did not hear back from him & he did not respond when I messaged him. I finally got ahold of him by calling again a week and a half later. I told him the shop told me the parts would be $600. (I didn't mention that they also said there's no way they just "fell" off.) Travis asked me to give him another week to find the parts and just replace them, rather than doing some other work to make up for it. I was fine with that as long as they matched the jeep right.
It's now been three weeks since I first called about the problem. Travis didn't answer my call nor my text on Thursday... it's now Sunday night. So I am forced to write this review as my only recourse and to warn others - and to look for someone else & spend a lot more to fix my vehicle. If he makes good on his promise to fix it before I do, I will update or remove my negative review. read more
