Turf tenders is not honest or transparent, as well as they are rude and deflective. They do not respect the request or concerns of their customers. DO NOT LET THEM SELL YOU A DREAM OF A BEAUTIFUL LAWN OR TRUSTED CARE OF YOUR LAWN. Additionally, they are not accountable. I am unclear how my lawn looked worse than when they were hired and how the excuse is the weather, the spring/summer climate and air control conditions and lastly rain. Why not tell me they would like to discontinue the services, if you know the treatment will not be effective; as opposed to charge me for something that would not work. Beware of this scam. I was billed for services I did not request. Turf Tenders aerated only my backyard. Why would someone request a service for only half of my lawn? They claimed to have called me, and Craig informed me of the date and time when I supposedly accepted this service. However, I verified through my phone bill that no such call ever occurred. Then he hung up on me. I have never had them do aeration on my lawn, my weekly landscaping company performs this service for me. To make matters worse, they also damaged the wiring for my new AT&T Wi-Fi, which was supposed to be buried on the same day. This resulted in numerous calls to AT&T to have my internet reconnected. I signed up for 1 year of service and they agreed the service would not auto renew. Now a year later and I recieve an email that my service has automatically renewed. HORRIBLE COMPANY DO NOT USE. I paid an advance, my first application was 5/9, my next wasn't until 7/19. I called them numerous times asking when they will be by for the 2nd visit. Always the same excuse from them - "real busy and we will be by soon". They offer up free applications if weeds don't go away. When asked they say they will be by and never come. I have had weeds all year, they are useless. Plus their staff is rude. On 9/7, still no 3rd visit so I cancelled. They completed 2 out of 6 visits and refunded me only $74 out of $253. While having this company's service for two years, it always came with promises, excuses and attempted upsells. First season, I am new to them, they are new to us...lawn was just ok. Nothing resembling a lawn receiving professional treatment services. Second year was to give them the benefit of the doubt; which they failed with this season as well. Patchy yellow grass, fertilizer sloppily applied so edges were yellow, overseeding the beds as well as the lawn... But yet, after all this, there are promises of correcting issues, but that never happens; both seasons. The topper is that after cancelling services due to extremely poor service, I STILL receive an annual call asking to sign up for services as well as numerous sales flyers/offers in the mail throughout the year. I called and told them they made an error and to stop billing me unfortunately they were very confused and ignorant on the phone so no big surprise that they keep sending bills for service I never authorized of signed off on. Avoid at all costs. Prepaid for service. No notification of application dates. After 2 applications, had zero difference in lawn as compared to last year. Called after each application to find out what was applied and what expectations should be, since there was no correspondence from them or their technicians. Their agent wanted to blame our watering plan (Rachio system 3x per week that automatically adjusts itself with saturation probes) which is ridiculous. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Made the mistake of coming back to this company for spring, summer, fall quoted work after not receiving good service for the first year. But they of course promised I would get excellent service. They continued to not come out when they said they would and I had to call a few times asking about it and then their company burned the lawn and when brought it to their attention they of course denied any error on their part. Then they said they thought it was a grass fungus - funny when i googled grass fungus it appears in rings and causes grass to be discolored not dead. They said it was due to too much water. Then the tech says we don't water enough. I would have been happier if they had just admitted to their error and brought it to my attention during the next application and attempted to make it right. The staff shortage, The Rain Always one excuse after another. I payed up front and got a discount for doing so. so here it is the end of October we still have two more treatments. And they were behind. So i cancel the last two treatment. they refunded $20 and 55 because we broke the contract so they took the discount from us. They are very Rude full of excuses. Hired them in 2012 for full season. Fired them at the end of the season after they raised the rates. They called me in 2013 about coming back, I told them I had hired another provider. They called again about coming out mid summer, it was a confusing phone call as I thought it was the provider I replaced them with (every lawn company name sounds the same, especially when you're in a hurry). They started up service again, and when we told them no, we don't want your services, they not only attempted to recoup those costs but CONTINUED TO APPLY PRODUCTS TO OUR LAWN. They even applied additional services after we told them to stop that time. And on top of all of that, OUR LAWN LOOKS LIKE CRAP. Grub prevention? Our lawn looks like they sprayed it with grubs instead. Weeds? Don't even go there. Terrible. Awful. Horrible. You name it. They've since turned us over to collection, and in that process have been unprofessional and inflexible. During my last phone call with them, I asked them if they had ever considered the lifetime value of a customer, not just one transaction - what if I came back? Hired this co. at beginning of season for 6 fertilizer treatments for my lawn. As of this date, 7/18/17, it's only been a SUPPOSED 2 treatments with NO results. Called back company yesterday to tell them I STILL have a ton of weeds & not seeing any results at all. Was told someone would be back out this week to spray again. We shall see if that makes a difference but I'm thinking it won't since I haven't seen any results with the past 2 treatments. This company is a joke. Don't use. I liked them in the beginning but their customer service severely lacks. Last year, they had a disgruntled employee treat our lawn which burned it up. They tried to blame us for the issue due to dog pee, insects and fungus. We have never had a dog and the burn patches were definitely to large to be any of the other issues. You could clearly see that weed killer was sprayed in large patches. They finally did come out and fix the issue. We terminated services with them after that incident. Now starts the new year and they just showed up and treated our lawn without any approval. Sent an Invoice 6 weeks later with a late fee and said there is nothing noted that you termed with us. Bullsh*t. I have the email stating it. I could probably sue them but paid the bill and told them to kindly f' off. Hire at your own risk. If I could give negative stars I would. I'm assuming this company took on new ownership as I can't imagine anyone would do business with them. I "was" to be a new customer. Talked with "Craig" and said he would schedule a fall fertilize and then we could sign up for the spring. Total nice guy, etc....Although I should have questioned why they never came to look at my grass, etc. Anyway, I get an email saying they will be there on 10/21. I get home, no signs, nobody saw them. I called Craig and he was completely unaware nobody showed. Then tells me they had truck problems, and the other truck was down. He said he would get me on the schedule for early the following week. Nobody showed. No call. No email, nothing. I give it the benefit of the doubt as it was rainy. I emailed them. No response. I waited unit the middle of the following week (today), call Craig and he is a complete jerk! I said I was calling to find out when we might be scheduled, or should I find another service if they are unable? He said "what is the address, and we ARE on time"....he attitude was so argumentive and demeaning, I was literally in shock. I told him again I was a "potential" new customer and was trying to let him know so far I wasn't happy - and they haven't even serviced us yet! He continued "what's the address" "No you don't need to call another service, I told you we ARE on time". What the????? I feel like this was something from Impractical Jokers!!! Completely crazy. Can't find any other contact info other than Craig's number. I sent a text and told him not to service my house, I will not pay. Got the neighbors watching for them. Unbelievable!!! These guys are so good (?), they continue your annual service even when you don't renew your annual contract. Yes.. This is another NEGATIVE review... They burned-out my lawn on numerous occasions when applying their treatments, especially during the warm summer months. I complained to them numerous times that they were burning the grass and they just couldn't take the criticism. I had them provide services for many years and they went downhill over the past couple years. As I called today to ask why they started service without a renewal, I got a "wise-cracking", "Disrespectful" response from the guy on the other end of the line. It looks like others have dealt with "Continued-Service" after people have discontinued. I just talked to Lenny (again) and asked for all services to be discontinued & he said that we were cancelled. Hired them for a full season of lawn services in 2011 and 2012. This included 6 applications, aeration, grub control, and over seeding. I pre paid both years and services went on without a hitch. Lawn looked nice. Prices are competitive, and the staff seems knowledgeable. The not so good-last spring I stated that I was mildly interested in lawn aeration come fall. When fall arrived, they kind of bombarded me with phone calls. Left several messages, and many times did not leave a message. Called at least ten times. If I want a service I will call you. If they didn't do that I would for sure prepay for 2013. I'm still considering them for 2013 because the service is dependable, but I'm shopping around a bit this time. They always call ahead before they come out (we have a dog!), they are knowledgable about their products and services! They have helped us for 4 years. We have not have any problems, but I see other negative comments that people have. Sometimes people just have a bad experience for whatever reason and like to rip apart a company. In my expereince, people are more inclined to LEAVE A BAD REVIEW on yelp than a good one - for whatever reason. I heard they had some bad reviews because I referred them to a friend, so I'd like to see them get credit for the happy clients! Turf Tenders are intent on providing you a service, even if you have not authorized it! They "Provided" anti-grub service for my lawn ( a surprise-8/2011) and billed me for it. They have not been contacted for service since 2009!!! Be wary of asking them for any service, apparently they have a clause, in fine print, that enables them to just arrive and do what they want at their discretion and BILL YOU. I used this company several years ago. I didn't have the time to fertilize my lawn myself and decided to call them based on a mailer I got. The price seemed right and it was a family run company so I gave them a try. I was not really happy with the service due to the fact that I was still having to pull weeds and getting random dead spots in my lawn. I talked to the tech about both problems and was only offered more services. Since I was already paying $200, I didn't want to spend more to get rid of simple weeds. For the next several years I applied my own products for about the same cost as the service but with a little better results. 2 years ago I got a mailer from Turf Tenders again that had a really good price for new/returning customers. It was about $40 less than buying the product and applying it myself so I decided to give them another try. After the first year I noticed I was starting to have a crabgrass problem. I contacted the company was told that crabgrass has to be treated early in the season and it would be addressed the next season. My lawn wasn't any better but except for the crabgrass it was about as good as when I was doing it myself so I renewed for the next year. The next season the crabgrass got really bad. I called and was told that because of heavy snow they weren't able to properly treat for it early in the season but would get a crabgrass preventer on it as soon as possible. After my next treatment, which was applied 30 minutes before a huge rainstorm, I noticed that no crabgrass preventer was applied, only fertilizer. I called and a tech was sent out. The tech told me that it was too late in the year for crabgrass preventer. He told me he could get rid of the crabgrass but that the only product he could use would also kill my lawn and I would have to sign a waiver. This was so ridiculous I though he was joking. He was not. I told him to just leave it alone and decided that I would not be using them the next year. I have always pre-paid with this company and when their renewal papers came I just didn't pay. I have never looked at a bill since I always pre-pay before the season starts. Apparently there is a fine print notice that you have to call to cancel service. I figured that not responding to 3 renewal notices and not paying would be enough of a message that I no longer wanted the service. On March 23, with snow still on my lawn in several places and still frozen ground, a tech came while I wasn't home and applied fertilizer and left a bill for $37.50 on my door. I called the office to tell them that not only hadn't I renewed my service but that the ground is still frozen and that fertilizer was kind of pointless right now. I was told that I auto renewed by not calling them. The rep told me that if I didn't renew my cable that they would still send a signal. I thought that was a pretty cocky comment from a customer service rep. I informed him that if I ignored several renewals and didn't pay my bill, the cable company would be smart enough not to send a signal anymore. At this point the owner/president, Dave, got on the phone. He was offering half price for their trouble. I told him again that I didn't want his service and that even if I did I wouldn't have paid to have snow mounds and frozen ground fertilized. At this point it wasn't even about the money. I felt like the first rep was trying to be cute with his comments and that Dave was trying to strong arm me into paying him for a service that I no longer wanted and that was poorly applied even if I did. I finally told Dave that if he insisted on getting his $18 I would send it. I also informed him that he had a couple of my neighbors as customers on my recommendation the year before and that the door on word of mouth swings both ways. Dave got very angry at this comment and ended the call by saying "don't send me the $18, send me the $37 or I'll f***ing take you to collections. He then hung up before I could respond. From looking at the other reviews on here, I guess this is their main tactic. I highly recommend that you find another lawn care service. read more

They have an automatic renewal clause in the fine print and initiate service the following season without being asked. Moreover, when they are responsible for damaging your lawn, it is almost impossible to have them address it. Decided this year not to use a service, because frankly I saw no change in my lawn. Nevertheless, the company came back this year and sprayed twice when we were not home without any authorization. WORST COMPANY EVER!!! I have been with Tru Green for many years, and they did an amazing job with restoring my grass to being thick, green and weed free! This year I received a advertisement in the mail from Turf Tenders and spoke to someone there and was completely convinced that they were better and cheaper then Tru Green, he told me he worked for Tru green in the past and he thinks Turf Tenders is better. I paid in full, got the guy 3 accounts in the same day (including mine) and we started off on a good note! The First application was ok, didn't see any difference... crab grass was everywhere and what looked like moss was growing as well with mushrooms, I was told from the moisture this year that's what why that was happening so I let it go. The Second application some stupid person came out and sprayed the lawn and burned a bunch 6 foot patches of grass and then some small ones as well everywhere. I had green grass everywhere and large yellow BURNED patches everywhere from over fertilization! The day before we had an evaluation done on the grass and Mark called me to tell me that the reason why that happened was because I wasn't watering the grass and because I had a diseased tree and the leaves that fell from it were causing the yellow grass. Never heard bulls*** like that before! I sent ALOT of pictures to show them the area! Then then I called my guy who signed me up back and told him and he sent out the "manager" Andy to come take a look... Andy said it was because I cut my grass in hot weather and because the grass had a "disease". Meanwhile they people next door to me who filed for bankruptcy had nicer grass then I did... How that is, I have no idea! After all of the phone calls back and forth for a few days I was told that Andy was going to come by once a week on his "own time" after work to check the grass... NEVER SHOWED UP ONCE!!!! Then when I called to cancel they said I never gave them the chance to fix their mistake, so I did... NEVER SAW ANYONE COME BY! When I called to cancel again, they got mad at me, giving me attitude, loud tone of voice and hung up so rudely! They also burned thee other accounts grass and did nothing for the 3rd accounts grass, so we all canceled and hired Tru Green again! NO ONE SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!!! IT HAS BEEN 2 WEEKS AND I"M STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND AND I JUST CALLED AND THEY SAID THAT THE REFUND FOR ALL THREE OF US WERE NEVER PROCESSED... Hmm I wonder why?!?!?!?
