There are no truly amazing fish'n'chip places in Oxford, but this one isn't bad. The prices are…read morehigh for fish and chips but better than some of the more central places, and there's a good selection of all the usual fish and chip shop options: pie, sausage, fish, a few Chinese things and, sadly, sometimes kebabs. The chips are proper English chip shop chips - none of this French fry nonsense, and the staff are friendly enough. It's not healthy, it's not sophisticated, but it ain't half tasty.

It's a good thing that I reconnoitred the location before taking my sweetie there. The are no…read moretables, no seats, no loo: all of their business is takeaway. So if you're looking for a place to dine out, this isn't it. That said, I got my sweetie some fish, chips, and coleslaw. She said that the fish and chips were very good. (I asked her if it was as good as the battered cod at Wimpy, and she said, "No, but it's still very good!") She was much, much less happy with the coleslaw. She couldn't bring herself to eat it, so I'm taking off a star for that. Still, as long as you're not looking for coleslaw with your fish (or chicken), Mr Cod would be a good choice.

I share everything that has been said in the previous review but I need to make it clear to one and all that if you eat in High Wycombe, like good value and tasty food, then this is the place for you. If you like good chips, not those frilly slimline tonic things you get from McDonalds, and you like them fat, soft, tasty and cooked almost to perfection then you seriously need to get in the queue and order away. I've never been in there for longer than 5 minutes and I always come out with a sad fat man smile just desperate to sit down and chomp away. They do awesome sauce / dips. If Curry is your thing, make sure you don't come away without ordering it. If spicy is your thing, then make sure you tell em (ring sore so I hear!!). They have a numbered board as you enter the shop 1 to about 16 (they keep adding things). Number 1 is my fave chicken burger and large chips (ol yes thank you) Dr Pepper drink and mild curry sauce. I used to love number 9 which I believe is 4 chicken strips coated in a spicy mix. It used to repeat during my sleep (apparently) and doing the swap has definitely saved me from divorce. Women eh? LOL I wish you all well and hope this has given you a good understanding what I think of the take away. At the end of the day it is only a fish and chip shop that sells lots of chicken?!? but believe me, one visit and no other will get a look in. Great value, great taste and its fun watching the lads who work there racing around trying to keep up with demand. Happy Eating, Churchie!!

I finally found this place today! I'd been walking past it without noticing it for a while, which…read moreis a shame because it really is a great little shop. I had the lamb and mint pie to take away. They give you wooden cutlery if you take away, although it's much more fun to attempt to eat it with your fingers! They do some nice drinks: fruit juice, flavoured waters and elderflower type drinks. A nice change from Coke or Sprite, although you pay for it. A popular deal seems to be pie, mash and gravy for £5.95, and you can get various sides for a bit more, so you can customise your meal. My pie to take away cost around £3.75, but this wasn't clearly displayed, so it was a bit embarrassing to ask. It seems expensive, but the pies are very good quality and well worth it for a treat (not much more than a sandwich, crisps and cake from a high street shop or a panini from a cafe).
