To clarify... the ONLY reason I had you install the brake pads is because you pretty much fooled me into signing for the $165 diagnostic fee and I had no choice other than to do "something" or just pay $165 for basically nothing. Your *DIAGNOSIS WAS INCORRECT* My car now drives wonderfully! I had the inner tie rods/boots and outer tie rods replaced, which is what was causing the clunk and loose feeling front end. Suppose I had gone for your $2000 worth of recommendations like a new steering rack, etc.? It would have done nothing to help the problem that I came in for!!! Tomvo Auto Repair did all new tie rods, rear brakes including new rotors ( which were warped badly and majorly contributing to the shaking problem when stopping), and charged me $692 for everything. I stumbled upon this place a couple months ago while selling a vehicle. Buyer wanted to have a presale inspection and we found ourselves at Tunex for a free inspection. The store manager, Nio, went through the entire inspection and helped us understand what was found. I had to purchase to "new to us" vehicles as we are moving out of state. I took both my Dodge Ram and Dodge Durango here for a variety of services, upgrades, and fixes. I truly felt that the pricing was always fair and I was never in the dark about anything as the employees always kept me in the loop and ask for my approval for their suggested needs for my vehicle. My first time coming in here and it was the best customer service mechanic shop I've ever been to. First they treated you like family, next they made sure you were in good hands, most importantly they made sure your car was fixing in time and worked with you with the best possible price compared to the others out there. The one thing that makes me feel at peace was when Nio's technicians showed you what they found and what needs to be fixed without any going around the bush like other places I've been to around the area. DO NOT COME TO THIS SHOP!! Came here as recommended from warranty company to get a repair that firestone complete auto care Anaheim failed to do. At first customer service is top notch. They did inspection to file claim for windshield fluid pump. I inquired about rear breaks. Matt the owner showed and explained where my breaks are at. They should be replaced. I asked how much to replace out the door (I don't like surprises) he told me $285 for rear break job (rotors, pads) I said cool. I had my regular mechanic tell me $345 with tax out the door. Tunex is a better deal. I asked for that service and they recommended a drive belt for $120. I agreed to the repairs. Now.. unfortunately I have some disabilities from head injuries and my thoughts get delayed. They said the total is $585... I agreed. (My fault for having disability) I walked home and 30 mins after I finally was thinking why am I paying $585? $285 and $120 is $405. Even with 8% tax we are looking at $440. I called and I spoke with Nio the manager. I told him Matt told me $285 and he automatically says "well you agreed to $585 when you left" I asked why did he mention $285? He said he doesn't know and maybe it was for the battery?? Why would I want to buy a battery after they told me to take mine back to firestone to get a newer one since they put a old one in? I told him why are numbers changing? He didn't offer a solution. Also Matt was no longer available. I went to pick up the car and no solution to honor what they first said. Nice upcharge and manipulation. It's my fault though right?? I did see another review stating upcharges and over charges... DONT GET TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF!! SOME PLACES WILL PLAY YOU AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM. WELL PLAYED CHEATING A MAN WITH A DISABILITY AND ON A SINGLE FATHER BUDGET. In search of trusting mechanic shop Decided to give this place a try. Few visits everything went well....smog, oil change and new brakes. Later, I notice my car was leaking oil. Took the car back to check the oil leak. I was told the oil pan drain plug was stripped/damaged and needs to be replaced. Well, you'd think since Tunex were the last to change my oil they wouldn't charge me $300 for something I'm not at fault. I got this excuse it just happens over time. Just admit your mechanic was negligent, cut your losses and fix the problem you caused! There's no way I'll be returning to Tunex! So, NOW, I have to search for a good mechanic and pay for a problem Tunex created! Oh, and yes, I HAVE a receipt from Tunex last oil change and their mileage sticker. read more

They would never road test the car knowing it was not fixed . When asked to make it right, he asked for more and more money. I went there to get my car fixed....and came home with other things now broken. It was a 20 dollar part and by the time I came out....i was out about 500 dollars. I think I got ripped off royally. Not knowing much about cars and since my car was having starting problems, I dared not to shop around...although on second thot, I should have shopped around. Called and was told the ignition that was totally broken, was ordered and the repair could be made early Tuesday. Received an estimate range on the phone, so far, all good!. Tuesday morning, got a call that my car was all fixed.Told it worked great and will be at the low end of the estimate. Happy! Good service, very friendly and they did what they said they would do. I should have had my oil changed.....If asked,I would have said YES! It would be fine to ask if there was anything else they could do for me.... I have known Tapan for over 20 years and he has been the only guy I have trusted with all my cars. He is professional and very honest about his work. Tapan and his staff at Tunex Auto have great amount of knowledge and experience so I highly recommend them. I've been here multiple times for oil changes, smog checks, etc. And every time everything went well. The owner is very nice and so is his head mechanic. However, on a recent oil change I did notice that the owner (with ihs head mechanic standing right next to him) deny me a written receipt (besides my credit card receipt) simply because he wanted to save me money and didn't want to charge me tax or the oil discharge fee. Not thinking much (stupid me) I went along with it and then I realize WAIT...if this guy is creepy enough to rip off the gov't (of what like $10) so he could save himself money then what other underhanded stuff is this shop doing. It's a shame and I wish I had realized what was happening at the time so I could have spoken up. I will never return. This is my second time coming here and they have just earned a loyal customer for life! I went in today to get an alignment and also have them take a look at the rest of my car, since an accident I was in a few months ago left my car feeling a bit wonky. I have my regular mechanic I have been going to for years but with how much they were charging me, but the result after driving off was so sub par I started to feel like I was being cheated. The last time I got an alignment from my regular mechanic, I paid $60 just for that but ended up driving off with my steering wheel still leaning to the right. They didn't fix it thoroughly! I came here today, and the manager took my car for a road test so he can see for himself what needs to be done and he educated me on what I should expect if certain parts of my car need attention on. I left with a lot more work done on my car compared to my regular mechanic but ONLY paid $55!!! I highly recommend this auto shop to anyone that will listen to me because they will always have the best intention for you and your car and they will answer any question you have about your car! This place is close to my house and has done a few repairs on my Honda accord. I took it in to get the brakes replaced and they did a great job for a reasonable price. My transmission had been failing for a few months and I took it in to get rebuilt. It took about a week but they did an excellent job. Everything was done by the books. I first took my car to Tunex when it was on Euclid in Fullerton. Todd always took care of things. Since they relocated to west Anaheim at Magnolia and Cerritos, I've been using a shop by my work. Feeling a little uncomfortable taking my car back to the place by my work; I went back to Tunex. Why: because of Todd. I trust him. So far, I'm satisfied with the work they did for me this time. But; one question: Why is cleaning the outside of the engine so important? To do it right the engine needs to be good and hot, then washed, then the hood kept closed for about an hour so the water sprayed on engine steams off the grime, then you wipe it off. I don't think driving the car to the neighbor coin-op car wash and giving it a once-over is the optimal way to clean an engine. Though there was a minor problem because they cleaned the engine at the end, just before giving me the keys, I think I'd go back again. read more
