This location has a big parking lot and a couple of spots in the front if you just need to run in quickly to pick something up. It was very intimate stage and seating, the seats provided great views. I loved watching the blend of new pieces, more contemporary ballet set to all kinds of beautiful and different music. I would like to share my experience at "The Nutcracker" performance. First, this is a ballet it is not simply "The Nutcracker" nor a parody - it is Tchaikovsky's masterpiece known around the world for its music. However, you did not even put Tchaikovsky's name on the cover of the program, website, or billboards and mentioned his name only somewhere inside the program after the artistic manager, premiere sponsor, production team, etc. It looks not simply strange for art lovers - it looks inappropriate. Since the late 1960s, "The Nutcracker" has been danced by many ballet companies, especially in North America. Major American ballet companies generate around 40% of their annual ticket revenues from performances of this ballet. Its score has been used in several film adaptations of Hoffmann's story. I think at least these facts are enough to give tribute to Tchaikovsky's musical talent. Second, Chocolate (Spanish Dance), Coffee (Arabian Dance) Tea (Chinese Dance) were all performed in the costumes reflecting the nature of these dances and the composer's intent. However, Trepak (Russian Dance) instead of traditional Russian costumes was performed in golden driller costumes (yellow work costumes and hard hats). What is it if not erasing Russian culture or in the best case mocking Russian culture? It looks especially absurd given that Tchaikovsky is a great Russian composer. There are many things going on in politics in the modern world, but it cannot justify the vandalism of Russian culture. Perhaps, somebody from the "creative team" will decide to put clown outfits on the performers in "Dance of The Knights" from S. Prokofiev's ballet "Romeo and Juliet." ???! read more

What a marvelous rendition of "Cinderella" by Tulsa Ballet this weekend! The performance is sharp, fun & nearly flawless in execution. Ok, so the priest lost his hat. My daughter attends the Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance education. This is her seventh year there and I am very happy with her progress. Currently she is in the 2nd division of Pre-professional. I am so proud of her! ok, enough bragging. I think what sets this school apart from the rest is they are very traditional and stick to rules and expectations. They also pay attention and encourage a healthy lifestyle within learning the craft. They recently added TBCD II, which is a ballet company for the professional dancers to start their career and have a better chance for them to be able to join a company in their desired location. What a great tool for dancers. Everyone that works for this non-profit organization is very kind. They also hold auditions every year for the Nutcracker and other performances for the younger dancers to be involved in the performance arts held on the big stage at the Tulsa Performing Arts center. Sleeping Beauty- This was my first time to attend a professional ballet, and I am so grateful for the experience! I took my daughter and she had a blast. We loved the music, which was performed by the Tulsa symphony. The story was played out so well by each performer. The costumes were elaborate and beautiful. The backdrops were gorgeous and fitting for each scene, the lighting was on point with what was happening as well. This performance, had romance, humor, and a little bit of suspense. It had it all. The dancers were of such an impressive caliber. Each of them had their own time to wow the audience with their talent. The main characters were amazing. The control and agility of sleeping beauty was out of this world. Overall I was blown away by the talent of these performers and I enjoyed every minute of it! read more
