This was his first casino, and we had a blast here. You could land a jumbo jet on the gambling floor. Outside of Vegas you'd have a hard time finding a floor this large, and with so many slots and tables. To keep things simple, we played a handful of different slots machines and each of us won at the majority of them. Aside from the casino floor they have a pretty cool bar and stage area in back that we peeked in on. They also several periphery restaurants and other shops. Everything here was instantly likable. The owners and staff are exceedingly friendly and accomodating. There are bikes, kayaks and a paddleboard available. A nice pool is available as well as areas around the grounds to sit and read or simply enjoy the view (some with gas firepits). Breakfast is included, which probably makes the restaurants downtown unhappy. We used to run into town for breakfast but LSR's are as good or better than anything in town. I almost hate to recommend them because I don't want them full when I want to go (I'll keep those dates a secret). I can see great sunsets in Iowa, but they look more beautiful over Lake Michigan. Saugatuck and Douglas have great shopping and restaurants and are only minutes away. I noticed a few comments (from many years ago) complaining about the beach and the "no kids" policy. Most of the time there is an expansive beach, but lake levels (which change yearly and even daily) can affect the size of the beach. There's a huge deck right on the lake if the beach is small. And the no kids under 13 policy is right on the reservations page, but if you can't read I can see how you might miss it.

The rooms were comfortable and the well-equipt kitchenette made it very convenient to have alternatives to eating out. We were allowed to pick blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries to include with our meals or just as a snack. The hostess was accessible, helpful, and extremely responsive to our questions and needs. We will stay here again.

There is hiking trails, fishing, swimming, boat launch and much more to do close to the Motel. Downtown isn't far from the motel along with good restaurants. The owners were easy to locate and were very knowledgeable of the various sites around the area and seemed to know all the activities that were going in town at the time. The rooms were in the process of being updated but were clean, comfortable and rather homey feeling.

First, the location is awesome. Across the street from a Lake Macatawa access (our balcony had a lake view) and down the street from the Holland State Park Lake Michigan Beach (perfect to watch the sun set). We also hiked Mt. Pisgah a couple of days (just down the street too). We stayed in the Newport (sleeps 8, 4 in beds, 4 in sofa beds). We loved the unit from the decor to the multi level layout and fully stocked kitchen. If someone in your party has trouble with stairs I might pick a unit that has an additional first floor kitchen/bar. There is a jet tub in the master bath and a private patio with a grill off the back of the first floor bedroom. There is also an outdoor grill with patio table seating right off the pool deck for entertaining. The salt water pool and hot tub (mostly the hot tub) was my fav, especially after climbing all those stairs at Mt Pisgah. 8 minutes to downtown Holland and 20 minutes to Saugatuck. Just down the street was a kayak and paddle board rental place. Additionally you get privileges at the Macatawa Golf Club which was very nice. It was worth every penny and we hope to go back again!
