They do have a coat check that if I remember correctly is about 2 or 3 euros. It's a pretty small venue/club so for the most part you have a great view of whoever you are seeing. Which is also the biggest downfall, it's crazy hot in there when it's that packed. During new years eve we felt like sardines. Once the front door opens you are walked in to show your ticket, then check in your coat then you are allowed to the area where the bar is at. There are two other large doors that lead to the actual club, but depending on the event they could be open or closed. Upstairs is usually VIP, which is great because you can sit and chill upstairs with the bar up there. Bartenders were friendly, people were speaking very quietly and respectfully to each other, and the music wasn't even loud! The inside is nice, got a nice "dark" atmosphere and the people there all seemed pretty cool. Just so weird, and unlike any bar one could expect to go to in the States. Sorry that the USA produces such annoying and loud drunk people, Finland. You guys are doing it right.

The bar owner is a total fan of the Texas Tornadoes and anything Texan. He's a Finn, but has traveled to the Lone Star State several times to take in the beauty, and is bringing a little Texas to Finland! I felt like this bar would be right at home in the Texas Hill Country. Around the bar, you'll find posters depicting the likes of Doug Sahm, Dale Watson, and Willie Nelson. There are Lone Star flags up over the register! God Bless Texas! The owner is a bigger Texas Tornadoes fan than I am, and I love their stuff- I thought I knew all their songs, but they've worked some Texas Tornado references into the bar that even I had to stop and think on. On Monday nights, they hold a jam session (no cover!), where local musicians get together and jam on a country/rockabilly rhythm, and crank out the jams. The best was hearing Johnny Cash sung with a Finnish accent! They have an extensive beer and liquor list, and the staff is friendly. The place feels safe, and clean. There are plenty of places to sit, along with some slot machines. They offer the national beer of Finland on draft, Karhu, but most of their best beers are micro-brews from a bit further north in Finland- amazing IPAs. The prices are quite reasonable, and it's warm inside. I had an absolute blast hanging out here, and reminiscing of Texas with the owner- he brought out his guitar and jammed out some acoustic Texas Tornado music. I'll certainly be back next time I'm in Helsinki!

My…read morefirst time at Molly Malone's, I was staying just around the corner which made this Irish pub a solid base of operations for my exploration of Helsinki. It is your basic Irish pub with few frills, but the cider is a nice break from your average Helsinki beverage. Prices are reasonable, and the bar is very clean which may contribute to a less authentic feel. My first time at Molly Malone's I recall that my bartender was really annoyed with some of the bar's Russian clientele. Ok, maybe a group of drunken Russian's singing songs of the motherland was like nails on a chalk board to an Irishman, but I had great time that afternoon and couldn't wish for anything better. Several years later, I found Molly Malone's to be the same safe haven I had experienced so long ago. The only difference this time is that I wasn't staying in Helsinki so my stay was unfortunately brief. Still a cold pint of Ireland's finest is always good when you can get it.

Efficient and friendly staff. Fun fact: I've also been to this pub's sister, The Brazen Head in Dublin. Worth checking out if you're ever there :) There's currently some construction going on to the outside of the building, so be aware if you're having trouble finding it.

Ranked as one of the top bars in the whole country and designed as a typical New York bar it offers a big variety of all kinds of drinks. You can choose from a big whiskey selection, have a nice wine or ask the bartender to prepare you one of their legendary cocktails. In the evening they quite often also have live piano music. But even if the place makes you want to stay for longer you should think about keeping it one drink. Cocktails start from 12 Euros, wine and beer are also quite pricy and with whiskeys it's even possible to pay 400 Euros for one glass. My advice: drink slowly.
