Horrible place. Especially when they don't follow hippa. Told my their things, she went to tell the owner. Not professional at all.

Let me start by saying that the rehab part of the hospital was amazing for my father, who is 85…read moreyears old. The nightmare started when it was time to go home. I was sat down with a case worker (Lindsey) and a social worker (Laura Ann). I was told everything that would happen when he went home and that they were available to help if we had problems after leaving. The problems started immediately and I was never called to be told problems even existed. Everyone seemed to blame the insurance, but when I called the insurance, I was informed of what they needed. I called everyone that it pertained to including Lindsey, and was told by her I didn't know what I was talking about. And that because my father had already been discharged she wasn't responsible for helping me. Thank goodness I am capable of making phone calls to get to the bottom of things, because we now have the ball rolling, more than a week after he was discharged without home health or any of the therapies he needs. I won't post details, but I will say this hospital has a serious issue with follow up. Don't say you will help families after they leave and then just drop the ball. Maybe take a little time to listen to the families or even call them back when it's requested. I've been out of work for almost 4 weeks, caring for my beloved father when I was told I would have help with 48 hours of getting him home. I will say I loved his nurses and therapists. They were absolutely wonderful.

She was a paraplegic after MVA and the first day there, the staff attempted to stand her up and fell. This is for the independent living facility. They promise you everything (a 5 star restaurant which…read moreis an IHOP), etc. All the residents' money seems to go to the facility to attract future victims, not to quality food. If you want sandwiches, pizza, or anything pork, you will like this. Otherwise, plan to eat out!

My family member had a colostomy bag that was never changed. I found four months worth of supplies after my mother left. She also sat in dirty diapers. This very young arrogant and aggressive woman stated that my family member was independent, yet they were charging for advanced care. If she were independent, she would be at home. Because they didn't assist in changing her diaper, she kept getting Urinary tract infections and they wanted to send this member out to a psych ward to "adjust meds" instead of sending her urine to a lab. Even though her Advanced Directive was in place, they wanted to charge her more money by suggesting she see other physicians. I had to put a stop to that. We took our relative out and was told we needed to clear items in two days or we would be charged another month. Cost at time of leaving was $6000/month and all clothes were stolen on more than one occasion. Totally not worth the overly paid babysitting. No care was truly given to our family member All I can say is run.

It's sad that they used a pandemic to lock out loved ones and get away with elder abuse. The day we picked up my father in law, he was begging us to take him back to the hospital and it's a good thing we did. He had pneumonia from asphyxiation, he was dehydrated, and his BP was extremely low. They wheeled him out in a dirty vomit soaked gown and I was shocked by the way they just threw him in our vehicle. He didn't get a bath for 2 weeks. They didn't even help him remove the socks from the initial discharge from hospital - so he wore the same socks for 2 weeks. This resulted in a wound opening when his socks were finally removed in the ER. Avoid this facility!!!

How to review a rehab center? Ideally by the results and the ambiance…read more The results were not great. My dad was admitted in June--they thought he only needed to be here for 2 weeks, but after experiencing the place, we scrambled to get him out. My first impression of the ambiance--depressing. Bedraggled. Run down. The poor LPNs and techs here are spread too thinly. They seem harried and oppressed. My observation. Not drawn from comments from them. This tells me management is a serious issue here. Contrast this with Adams Place, where we eventually moved my dad---it was like night and day--a massive improvement. They don't seem organized here for maximum customer service when friends and family come a calling. The staff avert their eyes--as if concerned that I might interrupt them from their appointed rounds or worse from distracting them from attending to an emergency, catastrophe, or other deeply saddening dissipation, guiding a confused resident back to their darkened room. Lots of printed signs all over the place to remind folks that this is a weapons free facility (great) and that leaders need to smile (huh?). If you bring a loved one to be rehabilitated, by gum, stay on top of things. Come see them as much as you can. Talk to their nurses. Talk to the doctors. Understand the meds they are on. Understand their meal and therapy schedules. Bring them tasty things to eat--especially fruit, which glows like an unearthly gem in these halls. If they can't get up easily like my dad couldn't, get them in a wheel chair and roll them out for a stroll and a chat. Bring your life force and love to them every chance you get. And it sounds like I'm down on the staff. I am not. It takes a special person to do this work and I am in deep awe of anyone who chooses this as their life's work. My best friend from high school has been doing nursing home social work since we graduated from college. I have long admired the well spring of humanity that powers her in doing this deeply important work, the work of tending to people at all stages of brokenness. So, don't forget the folks who work here. Be kind. Learn their names. Talk to them. They have full lives outside of work just like you. They are doing important work to help folks who can't help themselves and you'll need them to squeeze out that extra bit of their humanity to help out your beloved human entrusted to their care. My dad sadly passed away not long after being moved from here to Adams Place. Had he passed here, it would have hung on me dark and heavy b/c this place was not ready to care for him and not ready to admit that they weren't equipped. I would not entrust my loved one to this place again. I may not have a choice, but given a choice, I would not do it.
