This museum is a gem with a large display of indigenous baskets, tools and information; antique guns and saddles, model trains, historical dress and town information in the main building. I especially enjoyed the various antique typewriters and the recreated doctors and dentists office (scary looking x-ray and drilling equipment). The new agricultural farm worker history and implement building was very informative with details on each wave of immigrant workers and what they contributed to the community and to farming. There are several out buildings such as one room schools, a residence, a printing building which have been moved to this site along with a blacksmith shop, farm implement shed and a very interesting historic rail caboose. Be sure and visit

This museum is full of beauty, history, and memories to last a lifetime. Each exhibit is carefully crafted, and you can easily spend a whole day here. It only costs $6 parking and then a donation of your choice. My husband and I had such a great time exploring. This museum reminds me of Calico Ghost town, Knotts Berry Farm, combined with a mix of little house on the prairie. I loved the emphasis on the native Americans, Mexicans in farming, and the US military. I definitely recommend this museum. Let's keep museums alive!!

They allow babies and service animals. But they don't allow out of towners in 100-degree weather with a disabled pug in a backpack when their muesum is literally in a dog park. Staff is incredibly rude and flippant. Travelers beware.

Down to the restroom with the tiny tiny toilets for the littles! Lol! Love the fact there's kid friendly washing stations through the museum making it easy for the kids. The indoor treehouse has cameras on the outside so parents can keep an eye on the littles while they are in the treehouse which is awesome! The entire time we were there I saw workers tidy up and sanitize and clean the whole time so that is reassuring! Like the indoor didn't impress me enough.. when we went outside.. I was mind blown at how much is outside and how even cuter it is! They had balance bikes with helmet and a track for kiddos, fishing, building, learning to milk a cow, dinosaurs, farmers market, and so much more! Also, kid friend height table and benches perfect for snacking and breaks. Is to note there isn't any food or drinks available for purchase at the museum but we were able to bring our snacks. Price point was so affordable especially for the experience and what they offer for the kids. We will definitely recommend this place and would highly likely return!

We spent about 3 or so hours playing & exploring. It's really meant for younger ages, probably up until about 10-11. Not sure i would go out of my way to go back, only because we don't live locally but if we lived in fresno I would consider getting a membership. The lady working was super friendly and helpful, she even told me they do music classes and that the kids are more than welcome to join. Around 11am they have a person doing a science presentation but unfortunately she was running late on her project and I overheard her being kind of rude and not in a good mood so we decided to move on to the next room. They were also selling boba and eggrolls outside, sorry I forget the name of the seller that had their booth there. The kids enjoyed the front area where they can dress up, draw and play with toys. There was also someone selling their 3D printed animals, which the kids loved so I caved and bought them all one plus help support small businesses. Overall it was a nice experience for the kids to enjoy.

On a whim, we turned into a neighborhood in Independence to look at some early 1900s homes and noticed what appeared to be a small museum. When we walked in, we were greeted by the nicest woman, who warmly welcomed us and mentioned there were clean restrooms in the back. They were, without question, the cleanest bathrooms we encountered during our entire trip. The museum was much larger than we expected. One side featured a beautiful collection of Native American baskets in a wide range of shapes, all with intricate and impressive designs. The other side was filled with historical artifacts from the region, offering a fascinating glimpse into the area's past. Eastern California Museum turned out to be one of the most memorable stops of our trip. Edited to add: We made the three-hour drive back to the museum last month so we could spend more time exploring. It was another great experience
