The LJ Williams Theater, located on the Redwood High School campus in Visalia, is a wonderful local…read morevenue for plays and musicals. The auditorium has very comfortable seats which all seem to have a great view of the stage. There is even a balcony above to add even more seating. I visited recently to see the musical 42nd Street by the Golden West Theater Arts group. The orchestra providing music for the show was in an orchestra pit directly in front of the stage so the sound quality was excellent. The show was a lot of fun, but they did warn us before it started that they use wireless microphones in the auditorium and that we would all need to either turn our cell phones off or put them in airplane mode so as not to interfere with the show. The theater is older and but has recently undergone renovations to bring it up to date. The bathrooms are clean, and there are interesting design design elements throughout the building. I came here while visiting a friend who told me that most of the local high schools do their spring musicals here. It's worth a visit as the tickets are cheap and the shows look very professional, not hokey and small town.

I came here today and loved it! It was free to visit and even on a Friday afternoon, there was…read moreplenty of parking. In fact, there were only a few people inside. There's mostly just one big room and one small side room. You could easily comb the entire place in 30 minutes. Off to another side, there is a gift shop with lots of handmade crafts (like wooden carvings, jewelry, and pottery) from local artists and art prints for sale. There is a new exhibition every month with opening night the first Friday of each month. They also offer lots of cool art classes for adults and children. I am already planning my next visit :)
