This guy Matt offered me a gig to install an atm machine at a 711 in Richmond Va for $175. **I Accepted ** on Friday 6/21/24 once I got to the job site there were no anchors or washers. I then had to take a 40 min roundtrip unpaid night I add to purchase out of my own pocket! Later during the install.... He told me that if this install goes well he'd have another for me on Sunday and I replied "sure I'm free Sunday". After install; he asked me can I complete the other install today and I told him that I had prior obligations but I'd try my best to get it done before 3p. I couldn't make that time frame because of my obligations. **Meanwhile HE STILL HAD NOT PAID ME IN FULL FROM THE FIRST JOB NOR REIMBURSED ME FROM PUCHASED MATERIALS **!!! I asked him to put it off until tomorrow morning as it is 5p now and I'm exhausted. I did show up to attem the install but encountered a few issues while on site. I let Matt know this and he kept calling and texting for an update. what type of response would I give you besides I'm in the same pos from last conversation or can you send me my funds earned! He's ridiculous, holding on to my funds and then told me that he would pay me out tomo, then on Mon which is today and now he's saying Thursday and he's still only trying to pay me $60 when he owes me $100+ fowl when I was trying to settle for $100. I have things to do with those funds. He's a heartless man and I recommend that ALL CONTRACTORS & POTENTIAL CLIENTS STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS MAN AND HIS COMPANY. They are scammers and they don't handle business PROFESSIONALLY at all! BEWARE!!!! It's now Thursday when Matthew said he'd pay me out in full and still hasn't. Took $150 deposit from me, dragged 3 weeks on my project with multiple excuses (Truck broke down, City have problem with my sewer, my helper quit on me and my car have issue). He couldn't finish my project and have been making excuses to not give my deposit back. Hired Matt Tuft from Tuft Guy Services on Thumbtack to put together a playset for the kids. Gave $150 deposit on first visit because he said he need to pay his helper. He did not complete the project on the first visit and said would be back the next day to finish everything up. Turns out next day turn into 3 weeks of excuses and cancelations from him, did a terrible job with some safety concerns on the half finished playset(had to rehire someone and start over). Horrific experience. Matt initially seemed quite pleasant and quoted me a very fair price to construct a vinyl shed. I advised him that my research on the shed all indicates it's a 2 man job and can be quite tedious. He claimed this would be a 2 day job and he had a bunch of experience constructing sheds just like mine. Day 1... He unboxed all of my shed materials and left everything spread out all over my yard. Day 2... Minimal progress on the shed, Matt requested a partial payment. And against my better judgment, I gave him more than half the quoted price though all he did was construct the trussels. Note: Matt claimed parts were missing and would delay the construction of the shed. After recognizing his poor integrity, I do believe this was fabricated to justify his reason for not returning to finish the job. In any event, I ordered the parts he claimed were missing and had them within a couple days, yet he still delayed returning to finish the job. Day 3: Matt sent me a photo of a receipt from Home Depot supposedly for materials he needed to finish the job on my shed, requesting reimbursement. Ofcourse, I immediately sent him the additional funds via Zelle. Fast forward to apx. Day 6: After getting the partial payment, payment for the additional UNUSED materials, appearing visibly frustrated at his lack of progress on the job, Matt stopped showing up. He literally came up with excuse after excuse, day after day, even no call-no show on a bunch of days he claimed he would be here to finish the job. About 28 days later... Matt finally admitted he will not be able to finish the job. He offered to refund the money I paid him for the unused materials on the job as well as a portion of the payment I gave him for the job. And true to what became his routine, I had to wait and wait and get excuse after excuse before he finally gave me my partial refund almost 2 weeks after he said he would do so. Please do not be conned by what seems to be a nice guy initially... Matt was highly unprofessional, unreliable and truly a nightmare to do business with. STAY AWAY FROM MATT TUFT!!!! Thank me later. Thankfully, the person I had to hire to undo Matt's poor partial work and properly complete my shed provided an entirely opposite type of experience. WOW! I came across this review by accident and man oh man ...I KNOW MATT TUFT!!! Karma is a bi@#h!!! I see Mr Tuft is still scamming people. My husband and I were also dumb enough to trust him and paid upfront being that he worked for us previously and we liked the work then. We were trusting enough to call him back again and he literally made excuses after excuses and never came back to finish the job! We asked for our money back and he was gracious enough to give us a lovely bounced check. My husband and I attempted to sue here in court ...but decided to consider the money as a loss. I did run into him thereafter, at the park with his daughter. I wanted to give him a piece of my mind or a punch on the nose, however, I am not violent and I also respected the fact that he was with his daughter. I too am a mom and I did not want to traumatized her. Mr Tuft...your scamming spirit will have to answer to your kids, yourself and GOD one day. You will have bad karma until you make right with all of us you scammed.... Come back to Monroe and Washingtonville and pay the lovely families you scammed a few years ago and maybe then... you can be right with your God. read more
