We had our annual SC District 3 Christmas Dinner at Tuckers on December 6....The atmosphere, the entrée selections were all perfect, and the wait staff was exceptional. Tony was our server, and another young Lady, both of whom were attentive, considering the number of people they had to serve. It was also great to see Mrs. Katie again. I ordered the prime rib, and what showed up on my plate was an absolute joke. Dry, flavorless, and overcooked to the point of being inedible. There was no juice, no presentation, no care--just a dried-out hunk of meat tossed on the plate with a tiny plastic cup of au jus that did nothing to help it. I had to fight it with the knife just to cut it, and chewing it was nearly impossible. I didn't eat the meal. I paid for it--because I'm not that customer--but I walked out feeling completely disrespected as a paying guest. I work hard for my money, and no one deserves to be served something that awful at a restaurant charging those prices. But here's the real issue: someone in the kitchen let that plate leave. Whether it was the head cook, the kitchen manager, or both--someone saw that cut of meat and still allowed it to be served to a guest. That is inexcusable. Serving food like that isn't just a bad night--it's a sign of a deeper problem. And if this is considered acceptable at Tucker's, I won't just walk away--I'll warn others. No one should waste their money on a place that treats its customers with so little care. I will never step foot in that building again. We came on a Saturday night at 8 and there was no one at the front to seat us and the restaurant was empty. We found a table and they brought us some menus. We'd eaten at Tucker's decades ago and the place held some nostalgia. But that's gone now. The food was not good. The path to the restrooms was blocked by a stack of floor mats. A few people showed up while we were eating but the place was dead. At least we'll have the memories. read more

The waitresses have always been very nice. The manger not so much. My family and I loved it go get the chicken pot pie soup. It was a family favorite. We recently went and got the soup again. It tasted sour, had a gel consistency, and the chicken was so tough that we couldn't eat it. We were very nice about it and said we could not eat it. The manger came out and told us there was nothing wrong with our soup. That it only needed salt. She was very harsh and rude. Our weekly tradition of eating out will not consist of Tuckers any longer. read more

Went for lunch and they offer dinners for lunch. I had the steak au jus and the steak was tender and well seasoned. The roll was soft and held well with the au jus. The au jus was a bit salty for me. My husband had the house salad with sirloin steak and creamed spinach. His steak was seasoned well and cooked to perfection, medium, you could cut it with a fork. The creamed spinach was made with Parmesan cheese and creamy, brought some home to make spinach hand pies. The waitress was nice and very informative about the menu and made some suggestions. The croissant roll is served with the salad and honey glaze. I gave it 4 stars because the menu item I wanted (ahi tuna) was not available. read more

My wife and I went to Tuckers for lunch after church service. I ordered a ribeye steak medium. The steak was burnt! I sent it back. The manager Kim Mitchel brought the plate back without any introduction and began to try to convince me that it wasn't burnt when it clearly was. I did not accept the steak and she told me that she could not replace it. She was out of ribeye and the prime rib wasn't done cooking. On a Sunday at noon? REALLY? I then said that I was ok and that we would leave after my wife finished her meal. When the bill arrives she tried to charge me from the dinner salad I had while waiting for the burnt ribeye. REALLY? Visited Tuckers last week while in town visiting my mom. We dropped in for a late lunch around 3pm on a Tuesday (I think it was Tuesday). Only one other couple seen dining here at this time of day when we arrived. I was a little surprised that there weren't more people dining at this hour. My mom said that this is quite the norm for every restaurant in Anderson during the week, so there's that. This restaurant is HUGE. It is nicely laid out and has an incredible bar area. The bar and restaurant are both intimate and cozy, which is usually a difficult task to achieve with a restaurant of this size. They've done a great job creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that is esthetically pleasing and nicely decorated. The menu offered many great options including salads and sides. I ordered the seared Ahi sandwich with fries, my mom ordered a salad with grilled chicken. The Ahi was delicious! I love Ahi and eat it quite frequently. It was perfectly seared and served with a perfectly blended wasabi aioli. The ahi portion was huge and was served on a full baguette with fries. I didn't eat the baguette since I couldn't stop eating the perfectly cooked french fries. I was stuffed and still felt comfortable as Ahi is such a low calorie option but is packed with texture and flavor- that, combined with the side of perfectly blended wasabi aioli and the side of creamed spinach we ordered, I was overly satisfied with my meal. They serve coke products- (I hate pepsi-). Our total lunch bill was $40 and some change which was very reasonable for the amount of food we were served and the atmosphere we were surrounded in. I do wish the mid-day music would've been a little more "mirrored" to the demographic of clientele that were there eating during this time of day- but all in all our experience was wonderful and worth the visit. read more

We came in early on a Monday night. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Our server was Jasco. He did a fantastic job taking great care of us. He checked on us often without it being too much. Jasco also gave us great menu suggestions. I had the daily special of fresh teriyaki salmon. It was a large filet on a bed of caramelized rice with pineapple salsa and had a side of steamed vegetables. Since I'm focused on healthy eating, this was a perfect choice. It also came with a great side salad. It had a honey buttered croissant with it that I passed on to my husband. The salad had great toppings and was fresh. My salmon was a large portion and the flavor was very enjoyable. I liked the rice that was with it. My husband had the prime rib. He felt the flavor was excellent. I would definitely come back again. A friend took myself and my dad to lunch here. Only Dad and I had pasta. Neither Daddy nor I could eat more than one bite! It was what's known to some people in the restaurant business as "garbage". By far possibly one of my fav local restaurant now. The menu is 'local southern' I suppose. It wasn't extensive but sure covered a variety of available local cuisines. There was italian, Cajun, steak options, gumbo soup etc. I had the Trio platter (I think). The deep fried oyster is succulently juicy, so was the grilled chicken. The shrimp was of good size and the herb rice was perfect with the raisins(?) cooked together. Even the salad was impressive with the variation and croissant. This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Upstate. Tuckers has been in business for many years, and with their attention to both service and meal quality, it is not surprising. We have enjoyed several meals at Tuckers through the years, and we recently stopped by again to have a late lunch/ very early dinner as we were in the area. For a starter we ordered the fresh battered mushrooms - these are incredible! Served hot with a dip and you can't eat just one. That's the problem - a good one to have - as the portion (like of of Tucker's menu options) are very generous. A salad was included with each of our entrees - my husband had the Cesar, I had a garden salad. Super fresh and crispy - so good. Now, we could have easily stopped there and made that our meal....... However, we had already ordered our mains: I had the ribeye steak with mashed potatoes, and my husband had the chicken strip meal. Needless to say, we had to request to-go containers as there was plenty of food from our main meal(s) left over! Everything was so tasty, fresh and excellently prepared. Starting with the good: Nice atmosphere, the matrie de was waiting, welcoming, and seated me with choices. Best service at Tuckers ever. The waitress (Gwen?) was exactly what a waitress should be. Helpful without being intrusive. She came back with the bad news that there was no rare Prime Rib, was knowledgeable when I asked questions, was concerned about providing me with excellent suggestions. Gwen, you are truly one of the very best! The side salad and dressing that Gwen recommended was really outstanding! Now the not so good. When the kitchen had no rare Prime Rib, Gwen suggested as an alternat of the Ribeye. Maybe "okay" is being kind for the steak. Likewise, the side of asparagus was only okay. Went to tuckers while in Anderson doing some shopping and visiting some friends that are going to be leaving anderson and retiring to Florida to be close to their daughter so they wanted to go to Tuckers one last time before they leave . It was black friday and we had great food and awesome service . Our waiter was outstanding but Im sorry I cant remember his name but none the less he was great . As they say in the restaraunt business he knew his product . I had shrimp and grits and it was wonderful . My husband had the tuscan chicken which he said was great . My wife and I recently moved to the area. We have been trying the local restaurants to figure out the best places for when family and friends come to town. We drove by Tuckers many times and today we decided to try it. The food was terrible. It is honestly not worth eating at all even for free. The salad was soggy and did not taste good. The mashed potatoes were disgusting. The worst is that I ordered the Filet medium. It arrived super well done and obviously steamed or maybe microwaved. No grill lines. No sear. It was tough and chewy. Filet is supposed to be the most tender cut. I can't believe this place is still in business. read more

He returned with a plate of Fried Pickles and Green Beans, compliments of the house. He made a recommendation for a salad dressing I had not had before which I cautiously took him up on. It turned out to be an excellent choice, one that I will opt for in the future. (White Zinfandel Vinaigrette) Our food came in a timely manner and was presented beautifully, one of the trademarks of this restaurant, in my opinion - nice presentation. We enjoyed our meal but did have to wait for drink refills a couple of times - not the end of the world. We had Fried Pickles and Green Beans (Excellent, a House Tradition), Grilled Salmon Salad (Superb) with White Zinfandel Vinaigrette Dressing (Divine, Homemade, Perfect Companion to Salmon), Chicken Strip Salad* (Stellar, a House Specialty, Unlike Any Other Chicken I've Had) with Cold Honey Mustard Dressing (Unrivaled, Best I've Ever Had, Make Sure You Ask For the COLD Honey Mustard, Not the Hot), Unsweetened Iced Tea (Excellent, Light and Fresh) * If you don't want a salad, you can order the Chicken Strip Plate and get the same Strips that come on the salad along with one side item. Went here today for Sunday brunch with my mom. (In case you're wondering, my mom is Carolann K. who also reviewed separately, but this is a different visit than the one she reviewed.) We weren't planning on brunch, but before 2 on Sunday, that's your only option. First let me say that I am not a buffet person, and I am VERY picky about brunches. But we were there and mom was already a fan and I was having a blood sugar situation that meshed very well with the instant gratification brunch had to offer so we stayed and ordered drinks (water for me, coffee for her). Then to to brunch. Our waiter actually showed us where it was and gave us an abbreviated tour. There were some breakfast items and carving stations and sliced turkey and various fixings and salads and desserts. First the negatives: -Nothing was labeled. This made salads and desserts especially difficult to navigate. I am not a person with allergies and I'm fairly adventurous, but, still I like to know what I'm eating. -No omelet bar. BRUNCH with no omelets? Shame for the scrambled eggs over Sterno! -Some items looked a little, well, meh.. like the turkey and the gravy and the stuffing... the turkey was presliced and not at a carving station. In all fairness to these items, I did not try any of them! And the good: -Caesar salad was fantastic. -Roast beast.... yum! -What's better than crisp and flaky buttermilk biscuits? Try them with honey butter! So why four stars when, clearly, what I had just described was a three star experience at best? The service. Partly though my meal I asked my waiter if they had fresh squeezed orange juice. "No," he says, "but we can make some." "From real oranges?" Dummy that I am asks? and he offers to show them to me first... which I laugh off and say that that is completely unnecessary. A few minutes later, he comes back with another waiter holding four oranges and asking me to choose two for my juice. I laugh and choose my oranges. A few minutes after that... FRESH JUICE. The staff here is charming and funny and delightful. And the food really is pretty good. Oh, I almost forgot... try the mashed potatoes with cheese and chives right in it. P.S. Our check was under $30 for two. That's $11.90 each for brunch and two drinks. Score! read more

I have to say I was pretty disappointed in the food here. The staff were all super nice and we didn't have any issues with them. The food however was about the same price if not more than Outback and much lower quality. We ordered the "flatbread" as an appetizer with seemed more like a fried tortilla with shredded cheese microwaved on top. Our sides and my brother's burger were swimming in grease. The store value of the nicest bottle of wine we could find was $13. It may be different on a weekend but going there on a Monday night there were very few other customers.
