If you live near here, I'm so jealous. Mum's and pumpkins galore and they were really good prices…read more They had some mums for $3 and the same size up the street at Walmart were $13. They also had deals depending on how many tou got. They had every type of pumpkin you could think of in every shape, color and size. Not that I could take one on the flight home, but I did get a mini yellow one - I couldn't resist. They also had variety of produce like apples and Michigan blueberries and baked goods and homemade items like soaps and candles. Definitely worth the stop if you're going by.

Green Acres Farm Market may be worth the stop, if you purchase other items than what I did!…read more Cashier was very nice, friendly, and for a farm market, they have an extensive collection of items! If you are staying in the area, it is possible to purchase several full meals of groceries here. But, nearly everything I purchased was not good. The jams/jellies? Why are they not Michigan made? I bought 2-3, 1 leaked on the car ride back home, the other did not have good texture or flavor at all, which is disappointing, as it is Raspberry Rhubarb. The honey was the worst local honey I've ever purchased anywhere. Maybe because it was my first time trying creamed honey? The apples were overpriced, but I needed them. Taste and quality was decent. We wanted to purchase a small wooden windmill, but the price was ludicrous, I think it was $300! Locally, maybe this is the place to go for plants. Maybe it's the place to go for produce. I know it's not the place to go for anything in a jar. I'd rather drive to Holland for the Farmers Market or to Harvest Health Foods. If I'm in the area again, I'd give the another try, to test a bigger array of their items!

I'm used to being ripped off up North. Hey, the economy up there depends largely upon the tourist…read moreinflux from May through September, so I don't really hold it against them. In fact, I kind of expect it. That being said, Grassa's (formerly Stones) is a terrific exception to the rule. Flat upon flat of beautiful plants/flowers/vegetables at prices far less than you'd find in Chicago. Crazy massive selection. Cheesy lawn statues and fountains? Yes indeedy, and at remarkably fair prices! Gardening implements, trees, bushes, seed, they have it, all of it at very fair prices, Northern Michigan or not. They also have a very nice farm market where they have local produce and other items. Yesterday, I got some lovely local asparagus at .99 cents a pound. Yes, that's right, .99 a POUND. I also picked up a beautiful local blackberry jam for about $3.00, a loaf of fresh baked bread, and an addictive house made snack mix loaded with slivered almonds, pepitas, sesame sticks and other goodies.. In addition, they have refrigerator cases loaded with cheese, beverages, etc. so it's a good place to stock up for a road trip. A great stop on your way up North or on your way home. Helpful and friendly staff, an emphasis on local items, huge selection and great prices. One of my favorite annual stops on my trips to and from Glen Arbor.
