A woman called us to the other end of the counter and took our order...finally. Our drinks were mediocre and overpriced - plus my husband's hot latte was served iced. It wasn't even busy! Although it's a cavernous space, one man decided it was his office and was making a lot of sales calls, so we were treated to hearing that unless we moved to the back side of the business. Next time, we'll save a few bucks (and our sanity) and go to Starbucks across the street! We like to support local businesses, but this was abominable.

Then I sat down to do some work, one of the staff was talking so loudly and complaining about work and cursing etc... that I had to finally just get up and leave. His voice was so loud, shrill and inappropriately loud for an employee that it was hard to concentrate . He was so loud over the rest of the staff that customers around be were putting in their earphones to drown him out. Didn't seem to be a manger on site unless that was the person in charge, which would explain the lazy, uninspired vibe of the staff. At least the coffee was hot.

The Coffee Lodge is a great place to go for coffee on the go or a spot to stay and work, or chat…read morewith friends over a snack and drink. The staff are friendly and helpful. They greet you upon entering the cafe with a smile. The selection of coffees and things to snack on is always super, with specials related to the time of the year. The Coffee Lodge provides a quiet spot for someone to bring a laptop and study or work. It has comfortable seating for people to enjoy the coffee and the food. There are also many things to purchase from local artisans from jewelry to clothing. Overall this is one of my favorite places to get coffee around. For its convenience, the best coffee, and the variety of seating and places to shop within the lodge, I give the Coffee Lodge a definite 5-Stars! I would go there with friends or family to enjoy a morning or afternoon coffee. I would go there to take my laptop and work for a while in a secluded corner while enjoying some delicious coffee. I would go there to shop for gifts to purchase locally made things. So many reasons I would go there, but the number one reason is for their delicious coffee! It stands out above the rest. I love getting it to go on the way to work or I love getting it to sit there with friends and chat in the morning away. No matter what I highly encourage you to visit the coffee lodge. And beware you may go there for a 15 minute chat and find yourself there for two hours. It is just that comfortable!

For example, Twisted Taco has Fried Avocado Tacos and Tavolino has Zoodles (Zucchini Noodles). The staff is always incredibly friendly and always does their best to give great service. One complaint of mine is how irregular the hours have become since COVID and that affects the convenience of Russell House as a whole now; but the options are still unbeatable when everything is open! You can get anything from poke, acai bowls, bagels, and pizza. Lastly, I just wanted to note the cleanliness of the indoor seating areas recently. During the fall semester, there was a lot more cleaning staff in yellow shirts walking around to keep the tables sanitized, but that is no longer the case. The tables are always dirty now and there is no cleaning staff to be seen. This makes me uncomfortable knowing no sanitizing is being done despite the fact that it is a high-contact dining area. I hope they improve on this in the future.
