Tscharke's is my favourite winery in the Barossa Valley. The venue itself is utterly beautiful, the staff are very pleasant, and the wines are magnificent, and oddly, very affordable.
The first time I came here was on the recommendation of a friend, with my girlfriend. We had a great time tasting away on a quiet Friday, with Darko leading us through the wines on offer. We left hands full.
Then later I organised a group from my church to go to the cellar door as part of a larger Barossa day/wine tour, and we were not let down. Diane was very helpful and accomodating with our requests, and on the day, Damien Tscharke did a wonderful job leading us through his family history while we tasted his wines in the eerie but very nice underground tasting room.
Damien does traditional wines, as well as ones that are a bit 'cutting edge', engages in green and environmentally friendly practices, and his wife Eva also creates some very cute pottery, that I regret not buying! But I will be back. read more
