That said, it's the main reason security at Eppley is such a bottleneck and the terminals are so cramped. Hey, if we get those passenger numbers up, they might build a brand new modern terminal. It is a very nice sculpture with an operational water feature. The sculpture depicts five larger-than-life bronze sculptures and weighs 271 tons and stands 30 feet tall. The piece was dedicated in 2003 and is the work of Matthew Placzek, who intended the piece to "represents the dignity, determination, and dedication of the American workforce." This stands as a testament to the hard working man and woman, "the working-class people." The piece is very sturdy. It even survived a flood in 2011, when the river crested at more than 36 feet. You will find a flood line marked on the side of the monument. The sculpture was renovated, sandblasted and painted in 2023. It is virtually new. The sculptures are very detailed. You can almost feel their effort they are putting in. The center piece of the sculpture are the ladles. These ladles were actually used in the original smelting plant that was located at the same site the monument currently occupies. This is a nice piece and being just off the river, it is very scenic. It is not a destination piece though, nor a large consumer of your time. With that being said, as with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. Brian, a Senior Customer Care Rep, was helpful in getting both services removed quickly. I appreciated that the process could be handled over email without needing to call. That said, I was later told by Rhea that no refund or credit would be issued because these services were supposedly added during a phone call back in 2020. I do not recall knowingly enrolling in them, and it is concerning that something with ongoing monthly charges can be added so easily and then remain on an account for years without clear visibility. Situations like this should not come down to whether a customer happens to catch it years later. There should be better transparency and clearer confirmation when optional paid services are added. As for the Electrical Line Protection plan itself, it is marketed as protection but is really a limited service contract with caps and exclusions. For the monthly cost, the value is not there, especially for a newer home. The core utility service works fine, but this experience left me double checking everything on my bill, which is probably something more customers should be doing.

I had been going to the one in Council Bluffs since my daughter had been born. They had moved their lactation consultant to Women's, so I was looking for a new site to meet local mommies going through the same things as me. The support group is put on by the Papillion Department of Health. The women who hosted it were not certified lactation consultants, which was a little off putting, as I had just started cutting out dairy to see if it made a difference in my daughter. It was very chaotic and the women were not able to offer much advice, but only support. They also didn't offer boppy's or any other type of breast feeding positioning equipment, which would have been nice. They give out a gift at every meeting, and since I was a newbie, I got it. It was very nice gesture complete with baby items, and a $10 HyVee giftcard, which fueled my (decaf) Starbucks addiction. I was a little off-put by a Christian lullaby CD that they included. I don;t believe it's right for people working for the government to give out Christian paraphernalia. Alas, I tried to put my feelings aside and guess that they included it because it was donated to them. Please note that my experience to this group was in August of 2015, and things might have changed since. I would not recommend this group for a woman/family seeking true help with breastfeeding, as these women would not be able to give you the clinical help that may be needed, or help out with a pump situation. This group is more for women/families looking to get out of the house and meet up with other leaking mommas.

The memorial is well done and was constructed to honor police officers who served and protected people in the name of safety and freedom. The memorial is the work of John Lajba, who was commissioned by the city to construct the memorial. It was dedicated on Police Memorial Day, May 15, 1993 and lists over 20 names of Officers killed in the line of duty. It consists of 3 bronze sculptures sitting on a tall granite base, a granite slab, and 5 flag poles. The sculptures depict a police kneeling while providing assistance to a young girl that is sitting on the ground. Another police officer is standing and looking down at the officer assisting the girl. They are very detailed pieces and look awesome. It is well illuminated for night viewing and is tastefully and respectfully done. The base that the sculptures sit on has an Omaha Police Badge and an inscription that reads: "This monument represents the men and women of the Omaha Police Department and their families. Since 1887, this organization has served and protected our community in order that we may all live in a free and safe society. It is with respect and appreciation that the citizens of Omaha honor these dedicated people." The tall granite slab to the left of the sculptures, list the names and end of watch of the 25 OPD Officers, the last being in 2013, that died in the line of duty. The 5 flag poles, with the American Flag being in the center serve as the backdrop to the memorial and has the flags waving high, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I like this memorial. It is a small, but fitting tribute to the brave Omaha Police Officers that made the ultimate sacrifice. As with most memorials like this that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop.
