I had a troubling experience with Keri Powell Therapy on January 10, 2020. I truly loved the…read morecounselor I saw; she is top notch! However, I received a $50 fee for a cancellation that I made on 8/20/19 at 4:56PM. The appointment was set for the very next day on 8/21/19 at 4:00PM. Mind you, I was FIFTY-SIX MINUTES late to cancel the appointment within 24 hours like their office requires. However, as they said she would, Molly, the office manager, called me about the issue I had with their bill not sent to me on time. It turned out that I had a credit of $100 for overpaying, so the $50 covered that late cancellation, and they're paying me $50, which should be in the mail soon. Kudos to KPT for fixing my issue so quickly. The second point I wanted to bring up is that my counselor called me personally to correct the situation! What a light she is, Karen Jones! She helped me with so many troubling things and the worst of which was to stop being so hard on myself!!! Thank you KPT! Keep lighting up clients' worlds and showing them strategies for improving their lives from the inside out!

Keri Powell Therapy I would highly recommend. The staff are helpful, kind and understanding. I was…read moreskeptical at first because I couldn't understand my own feelings myself so how could someone else talk to me and understand. I was so depressed that I was considering ending my life. In Aug of 2022 I went to see Trisha and after our talk I left with hope that I hadn't had for 2 years. It was amazing that someone who I hadn't even met before could care so much to understand me and give me hope as well as the tools to get better. I am now doing very well and have experienced 10 weeks with no depression. I have been so impressed by Trisha's help that I have referred her to several other friends, who have been also impressed with the help they are receiving from her. She is not only a listening ear, but she also trains you and gives you the tools to take care of yourself. Thank you, Kerri Powell, for hiring such caring and helpful people.

I still have a ways to go but I'm confident in her ability to help me. I would have chose zero stars if that was an option. The counselors were wonderful but at the end…read moreof my 75 hours the Dr. said I owed 277.50 for one on one sessions that I was led to believe was included with my 75 initial hours. That's a lot of money to surprise someone with since she was paid nearly $1800 in full. I would have never opted to any form of treatment that included paying one more cent than I had to and on top of that she claims we had an entire conversation about these sessions that never took place which leads me to believe she is also somewhat unstable. I've only encountered the lady 3-4 times max when she filled in for group when no one else was available. I've never had a single appointment with her or a conversation one on one with her during my entire 75 hours. I'd highly recommend NOT using pleasant counseling.

We mistakenly chose Pleasant Counseling for our custody evaluation. Ms. Pleasant stated she was…read moreexperienced and educated in parental alienation. We chose to move forward without checking her educational background and experience on this topic. We submitted substantial information to her regarding the alienation of my stepson. Her report took 5 months to complete which allowed the complete alienation to take place. Her report was very biased and praised the alienating parent and suggested full custody be given to the children's mother. She described the mother's behavior and text threats to her children as a "learning moment." She described the mother's permissive parenting style toward excessive cursing and name calling as "allowing the children to freely express themselves." The same material we gave Dr Pleasant was also given to an expert in the field to review. He responded resoundingly that this was a severe case of alienation. Dr Pleasant completely misread this case due to her lack of education in this area. We were forced to settle this case without going to court due to the extreme cost of this custody battle for over a year. If Dr Pleasant would have performed an evaluation based on the facts presented to her instead of taking the word of a very alienated teen, we would have had the support of a custody evaluation going forward. Dr Pleasant also counseled the teen after her report was complete and communicated with the child per text and phone calls. We were told this is unethical conduct of a custody evaluator. The child had a counselor assigned to him in this case already and her interference affected the child's opinion of the existing counselor. Following this, the mother and child arrived to the next counseling session and announced they refused to return. My husband has not seen his son in 5 months due to non adherence to the recent custody agreement. The children and their mother alleged "physical force and aggressive behavior." Dr Pleasant did not find any of the allegations to be founded and referred to my husband as a good parent. She then recommended my husband's custody be decreased from 50/50 to 4 days a month. Parental alienation is mental abuse and only evaluators with education and expertise should accept a case that can have such dire consequences for the children.
