Incompetent and Rude Tellers at the Englewood FL Chase Bank - A Nightmare for Estate Handling! I…read morerecently had one of the absolute worst experiences of my life with Chase Bank, after being a loyal customer for over 30 years with all our personal and business accounts. I went to the Englewood FL branch as the Executor of my father-in-law's estate with the Death Certificate and Letters of Testamentary clearly stating my authority. I even verified beforehand that our Chase Checking Estate Account was still open. My goal was simple: close one overlooked regular account (which turned out to be a zero-balance credit card) that had slipped through the cracks when we handled all the other checking, savings, and credit card closures about a year ago. The first teller, a newer associate, immediately started closing the WRONG account - the Estate Checking account - by mistake. She deferred to the head teller, and that's when things went from bad to infuriating. The head teller rudely declared, "There was absolutely nothing I could do on the account because my father-in-law was dead." I calmly asked what steps were needed to close it, and she repeated like a broken record, "Nothing can be done, he's dead." No empathy, no attempt to help, just outright dismissal and ignorance of basic policies. Frustrated, I called Chase customer service, who transferred me to the Estate Services Division. In under 5 minutes, the representative looked up the Estate account, confirmed they already had all the necessary paperwork (Death Certificate and Letters of Testamentary), closed the credit card account effortlessly, and even processed a check for the accumulated unused points value from years of loyalty. He explained that branch tellers are specifically trained to handle these sensitive situations by taking customers to a private room and immediately calling Estate Services to avoid exactly this kind of hardship. Clearly, this branch skipped that training. The head teller should have sought help from someone in the branch or on the phone instead of pretending to be an expert when she had zero clue about procedures. This incompetence and rudeness turned a routine estate matter into emotional torture during an already difficult time. As a result, we're now in the process of closing every single one of our accounts with Chase - after decades of banking there, they've lost us for good. Avoid this branch at all costs; it's a disgrace to customer service.

I have had accounts with Chase for years. Called the Englewood Branch and they said that they…read moreNotarize documents. Our document is a real estate document to be recorded in Florida so it requires a witness in addition to a Notary. The Branch told us that they would Notarize the signatures, but they can't witness the signatures. Apparently they don't understand that a Notary Public is actually a person that witnesses signatures. In any case we had to drive another hour round trip to AAA to get our document executed. We are not happy campers.
