He was able to connect with the kids, the skateboard lovers and anybody that's willing to have an open mind to hear the knowledges that he spits. I'm a quad roller skate gal.. And my son loves skateboard. So shops like these, catches our attention. But It seem as tho no one in Charlotte NC can get him to look forward to come back to the shop like this dude.. He showed us all the new gears. What's good for skaters. What's works, the don't and what he prefer to wear or buy.. Then he introduced us to the sale items.. I left my son to shop as he pleases within a budget. It's nice to come to a shop that have staffs who is knowledgeable, in tune with the products they offers and provide great customer service.

Staff was also super friendly and helpful :) There are a variety of rentals to choose from, not just surf boards. They have skim boards, paddle boards, bikes and even wet suits! All at a reasonable price. Me and my husband rented a skim board one day, which was $20 for 24hrs and a surf board the next, which was $25 for 24 hours. Inside the store you will find a variety of clothing, shoes, sandals, sunglasses, bags and my favorite....carver decks for all the long boarders out there. Private surf lessons are available, along with paddle board tours and lessons. Overall this a great place to check out whether you are a beginner or expert and looking for a good place to rent while on vacation. Also a nice place to visit if are in the market for some cute beachwear or a new set of flip flops!

My hometown had two arenas in it so it's been odd having so few in this part of the world. I was a little nervous going to Ice House, but excited to put on skates. A few cons, despite the 5 stars: ~ Their website says, "Masks are recommended for everyone; Especially for those that are not vaccinated." When we arrived, we were told we were fine without masks. COVID is not over and I feel like consistent messaging is important. ~Their rental skates are, for the most part, in pretty rough shape with visible tears. All that said, customer service was *awesome* overall and that earns 5 stars from me. I put on my first pair of skates, anxiously got on the ice, and realized my skate blades has no edges. Like I could only skid around in them and not stop. I decided to be a diva and ask if there was any chance of getting them sharpened. I explained that I'm a former skater and knew I was being a pain. The guy said the person who could sharpen had stepped away but that he'd find a sharper pair. Well, turns out none of them in my size were sharp, but he gave me a new pair that was a bit better and off I went, gripping the sides of the rink. About 10 minutes later, he came to the edge of the rink to find me and said, "We'll have a new pair for you in 5 minutes." WOW! New pair did the trick - once I had them on I could stop having a death grip on the edge and enjoy myself and felt pretty comfortable. I wasn't doing double-axels, but at least I was skating! Haha. Most importantly, they didn't make me feel like a difficult customer for asking for some extras. They were clear that they can't always accommodate, so your mileage may vary if you're also a diva. I'm excited to go back another time and in a region where ice rinks aren't super common, I'm thrilled to have this here.

They might've had a bad experience or beef with one employee but every staff member here is very personable, polite and accommodating. They remembered my face the second time I went and even though there was no one at the skate rental window, when I found an employee they let me try a couple pairs before going out on the ice. The skates could definitely be in better condition and the ice was rough one of the days but if you go often enough that's why you buy your own pair and have patience while they refresh the ice after sessions. I have zero complains with this business and hope they stay in town for a long time!!

Part of the funding came from the Tony Hawk Foundation I believe. It is well taken care of. I see people come in and swept up the place. Kids waxes the edges for easier gliding with their boards tricks. It's clean and the regular kids know the skateboard etiquette. Yes there is one. I saw a review about NOT having benches or places to sit. Actually there is one. Right by the big main gate. But my thing is, if you actually paid attention. These kids and grown adults are practicing their crafts. Not all can completely control where their skateboard lands. Therefore, if you're not paying attention. Or look down at your phone. You will get smack with one of those skateboards. Now whose fault will that be. Parents, there's nothing wrong with sitting in the car. Watch your kids from there. It's safer for you and more enjoyable for skateboarders because they don't feel like you are hovering over them too.

Although I was very seriously thinking on getting a new surf board, I held myself back and purchased a skim board for my granddaughter. Logan was great in assisting us in finding the right board. He was knowledgeable on the skim boards and sized up the right board to my granddaughters height and weight. I spent more than I wanted too , but getting a better skim board meant better success. She skim boarded on our last vacation together in the Outer Banks. She went out everyday and eventually learned how to skim board. My reasoning for getting her a good one. Back to Bert's , easy access to, plenty of parking, anything you want in surfing , skateboarding , swim wear, accessories and more are here. Great staff on hand and ready to engage in their surf adventures. Be sure to ask them . oh yes , I did buy a T- Shirt.
