What's that smell?…read more Customer in line ahead of me, puffing on her vape in the building. Teller Viviana, pointed out to that customer that there was no smoking in the building. She speaks loud enough for everyone in line to hear. Customer completes her transaction. I am called to approach. I hand Viviana my cash and say I would like to make a deposit, as I do every payday. Viviana says out loud that my cash has an odor and she has the right to refuse my deposit. The teller next to her, looks over and agrees with Viviana on this policy. Clearly no privacy and embarrassing. I ask her what is the odor? She repeats herself that she has the right to refuse and that it could be unsafe for another customer. Starts to hand the money back to me and then says that she can make an exception "this time". I tell her that I've never heard of such a thing and I've been a customer for over 20 years. She sternly repeats her policy but cannot tell me what she smells. I immediately left the bank but once home I called the branch manager, Melanie. She claimed that if the money is damaged, wet, has scent of being in a fire, etc it can be rejected. It came from Truist bank to Suncoast Schools in Riverview. It had none of these things wrong with it. I am a senior citizen, not involved in illegal activities, yet I was treated like a criminal. I care for children and I work hard for the money that I receive. I am articulate, well dressed and a very clean individual. I have never been so insulted. Viviana's nose must be highly sensitive. Could the lingering odor have been that customer she asked not to puff her vape in the building? If Viviana makes an exception "this time", what happens next payday when she smells my cash? There are a plethora of banks down the street that will hold my money for me, without insult. My complaint is mainly about how poor the customer service was today. The situation is quite comical but there was no kindness to the transaction whatsoever. Where is the customer service? Where is the training? I did not feel welcome in my own bank. Awaiting a callback from the branch manager, on said "odor". If there is a problem with the smell of my money, I guess it's time to switch banks.

In July they kept locking my card and this morning I went to log in to pay some bills and I am restricted. Called and was told I needed to change my password only for it to lock again. After speaking with a third person she stated account restriction had to be lifted by a department that's off on weekends. So why are y'all having me change my password if you knew this. I'm getting fed up with them guess I'll be moving banking soon.

We usually come right when they open at 9 AM on Sunday so there's never a long line. But even while we're there never seems to have a super long line. Inside is very clean and spacious. This looks like a great place to work. As always bring one of your Capital One card so you can get half off. There is a parking garage that has a pedestrian exit right next to this café, so if you want the closest parking garage use the one that is by Sesame and make sure you exit on the side that's closest to the Hyde Park interior.

First off, the Ambassadors are way friendlier than any bank staff I've ever met. They actually smile while explaining things like credit card payments and mobile deposits--wild. The ATMs are fee-free if you've got a Capital One checking account, which is great because nothing kills the vibe like paying $4.25 just to get your own money. Here? No such betrayal. The coffee? Delicious. They use Verve Coffee Roasters, which basically tastes like someone whispered "productivity" over a cup of sunshine. Plus, 50% off handcrafted drinks when you pay with a Capital One or Discover card--which means I'm now financially obligated to buy lattes forever. And the Wi-Fi is free, fast, and perfect for pretending to work. There's plenty of comfy seating, whether you're studying, working, avoiding your responsibilities, or all three. They even offer free financial workshops--because apparently this place wants you caffeinated and financially responsible. If all banks were like this, I'd actually look forward to running errands. 10/10 would deposit checks and sip cold brew again.
