Fifth Third Bank

Fifth Third Bank

I just spent most of the afternoon trying to rent a safe deposit box. For those unfamiliar with the…read moreprocess, it should be neither complicated nor time consuming. I have done this on multiple occasions in the past at different banks and cannot recall any instance where it took much more than 15 minutes. When I arrived at the bank somewhere between 1300-1330 I was informed there were a number of walk in customers ahead of me. So I waited patiently and was eventually informed that it would be at least an hour and half before I would be seen. It was suggested I make an appointment to which I agreed. An appointment was made for 1600. When I arrived back at the bank at appx 1545 I was told that the personal services banker was with another customer which did not overly concern me since I was a few minutes early and had an appointment. But within five minutes I was told that my appointment would be pushed back because the walk in customer was taking up more time than expected. That's when I gave up and left. Clearly this is a bank that is not interested in my business which is just as well. If they can't manage something as simple as renting a safe deposit box in the course of several hours I cannot imagine how long I might have had to wait if I actually had one and needed to access it. So, within the next few days I will close my account and look for a bank that is capable of handling in a timely manner the simpler bread and butter activities typically associated with that profession.

I was in banking for 13 years working in one of the operations departments. I am sorry to say this…read moreis the most uncoordinated, laxidasical and inept bank I have ever dealt with in all of 72 years! Bought a new vehicle and the dealership chose Fifth Third for our vehicle's loan. I was told by a Fifth Third employee if I wanted my payments to come directly out of my checking account, I needed to sign an authorization form. So immediately, I went to the branch to sign the authorization. My first payment wasn't coming out for 45 days, so I was happy that I was all set with my authorization. Well, I got a reminder letter after the first payment was late, that I had missed a payment. I immediately called the branch to find out what happened to the authorization form that I completed. No one could figure out where it was, so the desk person said she would mail me another authorization form, which was fine with me. When I received the form I filled it out and my husband took it to the branch, with the "late" payment. Well, after my third payment was late, I again called this branch to get this straightened out because I was tired of them telling me I had late payments when I knew I didn't. I went to the branch in person again, with a check to clear up that payment, and I filled out ANOTHER authorization form. We bought the vehicle on February 7th of this year. So since the 7th of September through the 4th of July my payments have always seemed to be late. Then, today is the 4th of July, I received a call from a young lady who said she was an employee of Fifth Third, and being a previous Bank employee I know they are not open on a holiday, but when she told me that my payments were late and I owed over $1, 200 dollars I nearly had a heart attack! So I asked her what happened to the three authorization forms that I signed? She said she was in the Philippines and that she needed to put me on hold while she contacted the authorization Department. I was put on hold two or three times and the last time we were disconnected and she never called me back. I have an excellent credit score and I certainly hope that Fifth Third did not attempt to report any late payments to my account, but you can be assured that I will be checking tomorrow! This is pitiful :-(
