Completely not accurate and fully opposite of when a POA is in effect. So now I went back in and a customer service person never even said, "Hello, how can we help you?" Did say, "Do you need something?" Wanted to say, "No, I just walk into banks all time to be close to money!" After she started talking to me, unmasked as she was, about 10 minutes into the conversation she said, "Have a seat" (and I thought those chairs were just for show!). Knowing I was the POA on the account, this woman would not give me any information until she spoke to the account owner, my 92 year old parent and she actually wanted me to bring my parent in, as immobile as my parent is! She finally agreed to talk to my parent by phone before giving me the info. She exhibited no real understanding if the purpose and power of a POA. When I asked her why she was not willing to comply with the legal status of a POA, she said the bank just preferred to do things differently. Different from the law? I called Renasant Bank and asked what documents they needed to change. Sherry McCallum (Branch Manager) indicated that a copy of the State Registration showing the change of officers and a copy of minutes of the meeting indicating the change of officers were needed along with my IDs. All information was provided. Now, Sherry is refusing to make the change until we hold a special meeting to specifically vote and record on whom to take off the bank account and whom to add. This is unacceptable.
