This has nothing to do with the service or employees.....but if you have a garden or flower beds beware. The employee was told to stay away from the flower beds and garden when he sprayed and I believe he did. The spray gets in the air and it kills garden plants and flower beds. The grass has looked ok but this is a deal breaker. Like I said no complaints with the employees. Just gonna have to find another way to keep the lawn up. read more

I had been a loyal customer for two years, but during my June service they sent a new technician who completely destroyed my lawn -- he burned and killed all of my beautiful, healthy green grass. What followed was an absolute nightmare. Their office has zero communication with their technicians, so every time someone showed up, they had no idea what was going on or what needed to be fixed. I spent months chasing them down for answers, and it wasn't until October that they finally came back -- only to do a halfhearted "fix" that didn't work at all. My lawn is still ruined. I ultimately had to cancel my contract and hire another company to repair the damage they caused. A lawn care company that can't even fix grass -- unbelievable. I have cancelled different services and this Trugreen branch never cancels. They add additional services and use my credit card illegally to bill me for hundreds and hundreds of dollars over my original service. When I address it, they claim they will credit me. I get more charges. Phone customer service does not remove cards even when they claim they do. I finally removed my credit card from online but I don't know if it will stop them from somehow using it. They should be sued. This year is over $1,000!!! read more

TruGreen aerated my lawn but I did not ask them. CS said when I paid for their aeration service last year, I signed up for annual plan. I did not sign up for that, there was nothing in the billing statement or anything on the website. SCAM !! Furthermore, TRUGreen sent me a text at 7:13 AM saying they were coming, I was on the road. Thought it was a mistake since I did not sign up for it; get home and see my lawn is "aerated." I never received any confirmation booking or request for a scheduling. Now I have to deal with my broken sprinkler heads... I always flag /mark the heads when I schedule an aeration. Who aerates in August ? It's too hot to lay any seed down... My lawn has never looked this terrible and when I asked them if they could come and fix it they told me that I wasn't scheduled for such treatment and it would have to wait till the fall. Now I have a half bare lawn but they did say that they would give me a discount all I want is the green lawn that I was promised. TruGreen a TruRed flag. I never used them but I called up for a free analysis. They gave me an immediate price without looking at my lawn. When I asked about an analysis he said I'm looking at it now on satellite, you pay by the size. He asked if I got any coupons. I told him 50% off the first treatment. He told me $148 a treatment. I asked him if that included seeding, he said yes. I then specifically asked if the seeding was included in $148 he told me that was an extra $798. Every minute he was asking for my credit card number. I told him I wanted to think about it, He said "This offer is ONLY good RIGHT NOW". I asked him, what if I called back in an hour. Again he said" ONLY RIGHT NOW I can't give it to you in an hour. Talk about a red flag for a scam. With all the one star ratings I'm glad I'm not using them. Do not walk but RUN AWAY. Addendum added. Over the next week TruGreen called me 11 times including 7:30 AM the next morning. This can definitely be considered harassment. The message they left is they would give me bigger discounts. This is an update. Since the July I have been calling Trugreen to cancel my services do to damages to my lawn for the second time. They are still charging me. I just called Trugreen to complain about the charges and they said it was never cancel. I called them several time to cancel because they kept charging me every month. Now the rep said he can't cancel till a manager calls me. Everytime I call they say a manager is going to call me...Why isn't the issue resolve since July. TruGreen provided me with eight service appointments over an entire summer in order to eliminate weeds and crab grass from my yard. At the end of the summer my yard looked no different than it did before I hired TruGreen for its service. There were several appointments that prompted my neighbor to inform me that the workers sent to spray my yard were only covering small portions and not throughly covering the entire yard. I'm almost compelled to contact the Better Business Bureau and request an investigation as to the chemicals (or lack thereof) being used by this company. We've used TruGreen for 3 years to treat our yard for ticks and mosquitos. Last year the techs would not show up unless I called to schedule a date, despite having paid up front in full for monthly treatment. This year I didn't renew my contract, however they continued to show up and bill me for services. The last two services the tech only treated for mosquitos and not ticks, even though I was charged for a full tick and mosquito treatment. I called customer support where I cancelled any future service and was eventually given a partial refund for those two dates. A local manager was supposed to contact me to discuss the issue and schedule a re-application for the tick treatment. I never heard from anyone, and instead a tech showed up with less than 24 hours notice today and once again only treated for mosquitos. I'm not sure if this is managerial ineptitude, or a local branch trying to reduce costs by not doing the full application customers pay for, either way I highly recommend finding another company. read more

My suggestion for anyone who is considering using TruGreen for lawn maintenance is simply "Don't". I live in Bergen County NJ, and coincidentally, the local TruGreen operation is based in my home town. No "home field advantage" to be enjoyed, however. Starting with the false promises made by my sales rep, and continuing with extremely poor work by their techs ( had to call them several times for a second application of the weed killer treatments, and they had the nerve to attempt to bill me for one of the repeat treatments (they called it an additional "customer-requested" visit). If my lawn looked even marginally better with TruGreen's services, I wouldn't be writing this review, but the truth is, that for most of the summer months, my lawn looked noticeably worse than it had in previous years, when I had maintained it myself. I accidently "discovered" that my service was going to be auto-renewed (I made the mistake of paying via credit card, and the fine-print on my contract listed this commitment) for next year, so when I called the sales rep to let him know that I had no intention of using TruGreen ever again, he didn't ask my "why", or try to have me re-up for 2022. I guess he receives so many cancellations, he figures it's not worth his effort to try to retain existing customers. I give this organization a a half-star, and that's being generous. I have taken care of my lawn and had some weed issues last year and decided to use them this year summer of 2023 . Let me tell you my lawn is destroyed . I had called them because when I returned from vacation my front lawn was over run with crab grass even though they have been servicing my lawn since April 2023 . I had called them to tell them They came and resprayed but sprayed areas that had no issues and the graas was lush green before . Rockland TruGreen will kill your lawn because they do not do the work in a timely manner, when you call to see where their employees are there is always an excuse why your service is being rescheduled. When they do show up, they are young kids who don't give a crap about the lawn they just do what they're told. In the meantime the lawn developed more and more weeds and killed the property. She kept talking over me and really could give a shit about the fact that I was lied to. She denied my request for half credit for first visit. I told her to than cancel the 2nd visit. This is a cautionary tale for potential buyers and is consistent with all the other 1 star reviews of these folks on Yelp. Naive me for not reading the reviews BEFORE hiring them! Let me preface this by saying I am very particular about my lawn and garden and over my lifetime I have learned a thing or two about growing grass and ornamental flowers and plants. Knowledge comes with a price however -- that means in such matters I am an educated consumer and hard to please. In a moment of weakness (literally) I was sold on lawn service by an earnest looking young man, a fellow Marine Corps veteran, who used his military background as a marketing tool to sell trust, and promised me he will always make things right if anything isn't. He failed to do what he promised. Strike one. I was charged for services that were not supplied and for services that were not cleared by me in advance. Strike 2. TruGreen ruined my shrubs with chemicals and then refused to warranty their service. Strike 3. Despite frequent calls and emails to this salesman and his manager seeking a polite solution, no one responded, and eventually I had no choice but to contest the credit card charges with my bank. Game over. We live in a cynical world -- and because many of TruGreen's competitors have earned equally scathing reviews online, not only does the TruGreen experience leave a bad taste, but it also fuels my growing distrust of the entire industry. I ordered trugeens complete service in April. Today is June 5th and it's time to cancel. My lawn started getting red spots and trugree is saying it is not covered under this complete service. Not only that I now have clover issues and some kind of creeping ivy that has invaded. Obviously that has not been treated yet either. I've now made 3 calls and can not get a manager to respond. I would not use them. We tried them for 2 years & our lawn problems did not improve at all. They are unreliable. They fail to show up for scheduled appointments, then show up unexpectedly without getting our permission or even calling to tell us they were coming. We have been repeatedly telling them to cancel our service for the last 6 weeks. They call us every day to ask about coming back. But they are impossible to reach by phone; every time I call, I go through their voice menu, only to hear "estimated wait time is 1-2 hours." They are unable to communicate, they don't follow instructions, & their products don't work. PLEASE READ as I am beyond frustrated with this company. I was called by a salesman in late winter who was very persistent. I finally gave in as he marked down the seasonal service significantly. (Keep in mind that phrase, "you get what you pay for"). My first service was done on a day that was raining. This goes against any logic of fertilizer and weed application. The technician couldn't answer questions and customer service lacks knowledge and is rude. Despite telling me that they would spot treat the edges and any weeds they see, they never did. My lawn is full if crab grass and other weeds that I have never seen before. Prior to the second application, I wanted to speak to a supervisor about the timing of fertilizing. That never happened and the technician showed up anyway to perform the service. Like many lawns in my area due to drought conditions, mine has suffered. However, my lawn is the worst lawn in the neighborhood with more damage than any of the others. A "salesman" called me as a result of my inquiry and tried to sell me an aerating and over seeding service. They refuse to send someone to look at my lawn. They will not listen!! I have no idea what products they used but it did nothing...may as well have been water. My neighbors do not have their lawns professionally treated and theirs look so much better. In the past, I have always used the 4 applications to take care of my lawn and it was beautiful! It was the envy of the neighborhood. I am filled with regret over this decision. Avoid these crooks!! Even one star is one too many, this should get a 'zero'. We made an inquiry in 2016, received a quote, decided not to go with them. This spring they just showed up at our house in the Hudson Valley, leaving 'TruGreen' signs all over the yard, claiming that they treated our plants. Leaving also an invoice over several hundred of dollars. Upon inquiry, they claim that we signed a contract last year, which is a complete lie. We will not pay a cent. We've had an awful experience with TruGreen. Their lawn treatments have been totally ineffective, as shown in the photos, in part because they seem to seed at the wrong times (they just seeded on a scorching hot early August day) and apply seed and fertilizer patchily and incompletely leading to a rash of crab grass and other weeds. They've tried to upsell us a number of times with treatments for our flowerbeds as bushes (which have contradicted the advice of our gardener) but are otherwise totally unresponsive. We've emailed and called to complain about the service and have not gotten any response. Most amazingly, they just came while we weren't home and applied a treatment we didn't request and charged our credit card more than $200 for it. Extremely poor FollowUp service. My contract was for weed spraying. My second treatment didn't kill Any weeds. After 3 weeks I had twice as many weeds growing as the day the technician sprayed. I called customer service and a different technician was scheduled to spray. The district office changed it and was going to send the tech that did a terrible job. I cancelled and requested a call from the district office. This happened 2 more times and I cancelled each time. After my third request for a call from the district office I finally got a call from a manager. He was VERY difficult to understand, continually interrupted me, and insisted that he was going to send back the same technician that did a terrible job. He provoked me so much that I lost my temper.
