Yogafly Studio

There's always a little trepidation with checking out a new studio but really, I had nothing to…read moreworry about since everyone at Yogafly was so welcoming even before the class started. I also really liked how reservations are not required for regularly scheduled classes which makes it convenient for people just wanting to check out Yogafly and out-of-towners such as myself. Just show up a little early to pay and sign a waiver. Classes are $15 each but there are various packages available. The studio space is one big rectangle, with props and a desk at the front, and a bathroom and a piano at the back. The ceiling was painted a soothing shade of turquoise. The only slight detraction were sounds from the Mexican restaurant next door. Found the Hatha 1 class with Katharine relaxing and satisfying, felt super stretched out after. Thanks Yogafly!

The space itself is amazing, but the real gift is Peach. Her teaching is excellent, and she has truly created a yoga community in the city of Auburn. She's knowledgable, approachable, and very intelligent in how she can simplify some intimidating things and make them available to students of all levels. On top of that, she leads a wonderful teacher training and knows how to hire responsible and knowledgable teachers. Peach's background and training are impressive and it shows in every class she teaches. Whether you're a long time practitioner or a first timer, this is a teacher you will absolutely learn from. There is no other Peach!!!

I received a brochure in the mail that said $19.95 per month, $0 down…read more I gave them a call and spoke with the manager, Nicole, on the phone. I verified that this price was not with a contract. She said "It's basically month-to-month". So, I decided to go in for a tour. Upon arriving, I spoke with another woman and stressed my concerns about signing a contract and told her the only reason I was there was because of that brochure and it not being a contract. She acted like she "completely" understood. After the tour, I was pretty excited about joining. Then, we talk pricing. That brochure was indeed "basically" month-to-month like the manager said. There was a catch! You pay UP FRONT for 36 MONTHS!!! That's 3 years people!!! That's $718.20!! I told the woman I was talking to that I felt the brochure was False Advertisement. She didn't seem to understand how... She said they don't consider it a contract since you pay up front. The other price options were $49.95 or $59.95 a month - One year contract. I'm sorry - but for a price like that AND a contract, I'll go over to another gym and enjoy many more amenities - including a pool! Don't be fooled by the advertisements that Fitness for Women puts out! They are not accurate and all they try to do is get you in there so they can suck you in!

AC Fitness is a really desirable gym to join because of its affiliation with Gold's Gym. I have a…read moreMetropass, so I can use either gym, but only pay one (pretty reasonable) membership fee. This is especially useful to me, because I like group exercise classes, and the schedule at both places is somewhat limited. They have Body Pump (which is a little too intense for me), spinning, yoga/pilates, and other aerobic classes. I wish they had kickboxing class, but I've been pretty happy there so far. The exercise equipment is all pretty well maintained, and I like being able to watch TV when I'm brainlessly plugging away on the elliptical machine. EDIT: They've added a ton of Turbo Kick classes plus more Body Jam classes, and I am loving life at this gym again.
