My sister and I were excited to go on this tour after reading the reviews. We have been on tours in other cities, and usually it is a way to learn some history of the City as well. Meeting place was easy, as well as the guide was enthusiastic. The stories though were underwhelming, and were more "observations" of ghosts haunting their old places of work. There are no murders or other scary events that would trigger these ghost stories and the reason for haunting, rather its workaholics who now "haunt" their old job. There were also to many references to the the tour owner - GinaTaylor. I have never learned or remembered the personal name of an owner, but the owner's name was thrown out so many times as a reference to a story that it took away from the experience. read more

Four of us took the historical Ft Myers ghost tour. All four us felt the same way. It was okay but I wouldn't take anyone else on this tour. The tour guide was decent and easy to hear. ...... But the stories just felt like someone just wrote out some fake stories and they use that a a script. I have been on other ghost tours and the stories seem to tie into historical events. At first we were discouraged because we thought we were going to be in a trolly but once we started the tour we quickly changed our minds. The walk wasn't hard AT ALL. Did the Haunted History tour with my mom during a recent visit to Ft. Myers. Our tour guide was excellent - she had lots of energy and the personality for this type of tour. We wandered the streets of downtown Ft. Myers learning the gruesome history behind some of the most iconic buildings downtown. Even though no ghost figures appeared or were captured in my photos, hearing the stories was enough for me. Just wish the opportunity was available to actually go into some of the buildings opposed to just standing outside and looking at the building from afar or through the windows. However I would definitely take one of the other tours they offer next time in Ft. Myers! read more

On May 31, 2017, my wife and I went on the Ghost Tour of Fort Myers and loved it. We highly recommend "True Tours" ghost tour. The ghost tour departs from the Franklin Shops, a former 1930s era hardware store where the spirit of the owner, Mr. Franklin, is known to correct things that he did not prefer. From there, we traveled by foot to the old Lee County Courthouse (completed in 1915). As a lawyer, I have come to love and somewhat dislike courthouses. This one I liked. It was beautiful! And the story to go with it was equally as fascinating. Indeed, aside from the ghost stories, the old, grand courthouse became too small and was cast aside for a larger, more modern courthouse (gasp! bad architecture) constructed in the late 1980s. The remodeling of the interior of the old courthouse in 1988 stirred some ghostly activity that you will have to learn on the tour. Needless to say, you will not be disappointed. After that, in the midst of an upcoming thunder and lightening storm, we traveled to Bootleggers' Alley and heard the stories of the old Greystone Hotel and spirits that still reside there. Incidentally, there, the EMF reader hit dark red over and over again. We felt like we were part of "Ghost Adventures" and "Paranormal State". We then traveled to the Gwynne Institute, a former school, built in 1911 for elementary through high school students. That building became too small by 1914 and another school was built, leaving the Gwynne Institute for the younger students. Nonetheless, the "old school marm" still reportedly peeks out of the windows from time to time (along with some children). And we saw a credible photo from our guide. I could completely understand this having, as a young boy, lived next to two school teachers (and spinsters) in Cincinnati, Ohio, each of whom taught school from the 1920s until the 1940s. Our guide took us to many other places and told of many other apparitions and stories. I would have given a full five stars, except for the fact that the guide started telling us about the story of one building, now housing a law firm, but then declined to tell us the ghost story because she was "sworn to secrecy" because of her informant who did not actually believe in ghosts. Huh? As an attorney, I can understand confidences, except when it comes to a ghost story. read more

Went on Haunted tour with my Mom Friday night. We learned a great deal about the history of downtown Ft. Myers and were impressed by the beauty of the historical buildings. Laurie was a great guide. Her personality and knowledge of the area really made the tour come alive. Her sharing of stories and pictures of previous tour goers added to the mystique of the tour. Wish the person holding the ghost meter would have shared when there was activity but perhaps another time. Following Laurie's instructions, I took multiple shots and was able to capture a moving green orb in a window that I hadn't seen at the time. I just love local history and couldn't wait to do this tour...we were the last tour on a Saturday night and there was plenty going on downtown. Our tour was continuously interrupted by people who had a bit too much to drink and thought it was entertaining to interrupt our tour guide repeatedly. Nice way to spend a night out in downtown Fort Myers. Did the haunted tour just before last Halloween so it was easy to get in the spirit and the weather was nice and not too sticky hot. They offer additional tour times in October so be sure to keep an eye out for that. Definitely not the scariest haunted tour I have done, but it does give you some interesting information on the area and I learned a few things despite having lived in the area on and off for 18 years. read more

Last night was the first Haunted Tour I have ever been on. I had no idea what to expect. I was concerned because I do have a hearing problem and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to hear. Laura was an absolutely wonderful guide. Hearing was not a problem as she uses a microphone and you can hear her from any point. She told interesting stories about each building. Though I have lived in Fort Myers and worked in the downtown area since 1978, I learned so much about our history. I plan on returning for another guided tour. We took the flavors of Matlacha tour on Tuesday. We've always buzzed through Matlacha commenting on its quirky look. The tour gave us a history of Matlacha, both as a fishing village and then later as an art colony. Including local businesses as part of the tour really personalized its history.
