There's an opportunity to sit on one of the many stone benches provided throughout the luscious well-maintained garden for meditation. I always enjoy the walking paths while listening to the birds and the koi pond while listening to the water flowing. But on a few occasions, I wish other visitors can also be in that meditative state or mode and remember to keep their conversations to a minimum once they come through the gate. This will help to maintain the tranquil environment. The meditation garden is not meant for social gatherings. Please respect those visitors who are truly there to practice mindfulness...Namaste. I participated in a Transcendental Meditation course through the Mission Valley center years ago,…read morewhere I paid for instruction, received the opening ceremony, and attended group follow-up sessions. However, when I recently reached out for support, I was told there was no record of my instruction or payment in the TM system. This lack of accountability was deeply concerning. A global organization of this size should maintain accurate records of its students and protect them from being lost in the process. Instead, I was told that what I experienced "had nothing to do with TM," despite it taking place at their center. My hope in sharing this review is to encourage greater transparency, proper record-keeping, and accountability within the TM organization so others do not face the same dismissal or confusion.

This organization is…read morehighly money motivated. $1100 to give you "secret" mantra that can be looked up online by age and gender. Very disappointed. Hesitated writing this review for a long time but feel it's important others know. Any organization so focused on money while also claiming to be about dropping beliefs, opening up, sharing love with the world, etc might want to be more transparent and mindful themselves. The meditation is mediocre at best if you've had any experience at all. If you haven't, a couple YouTube videos will provide as much guidance and more. Plus it's free! Their weekly "checks" are NOT a meditation group. They are a constant repeat of the same material. Not worth it.

I heard about the day of mindfulness from friends who went so I decided to try it. I loved the…read moreexperience and will be back. It felt like an escape since I was unplugged from my phone and silent for a few hours. The grounds are beautiful and the pond was my favorite view to take in the beauty of nature watching the dragonflies, bees, fish, and birds. I loved the songs, calming bells, meditative walk, and dharma talk. It was long though and my old body had to keep changing positions on the mat. I felt so relaxed and peaceful that I wished a nap was included. The translator was terrific! I enjoyed hearing about everyone's experience during the sharing opportunity (yet it was fine to pass the mic and not speak too). Then we ate a freshly prepared vegetarian meal at the end and had some free time afterwards to revisit the pond and bookstore/gift shop. Before leaving, I got a few photos after the event ended (since it would ruin the mood, be distracting to others, and defeat the purpose if phones were used during the experience.) It was a great to focus on breathing, quieting thoughts, and being present. Thanks for offering this tranquil opportunity to the public. I definitely encourage anyone who visits to make a donation if able.
