I brought my youngest in to see Kwan for a cut after he did an amazing job with my 13 year old! Kwan was patient, kind and so nice to both of my kids! (Youngest is 5). He gave both boys exactly what they asked for and the customer service is top notch. The shop itself is immaculate, smells nice and aesthetically pleasing. 10/10 would recommend. We won't be going anywhere else and Kwan is officially both of my sons barber. The owner was also super nice and made sure he greeted every customer that came in and engaged everyone in conversation. This is a great African American barber shop. I started using this barbershop in 2015. At that time I was 32 and my boys were 4 and 6 years old. The struggle when finding a great barber shop that caters to African american hairstyles is that they are normally located in improvised areas of the city. These area usually have great barbers and interesting clientele. The type of clientele that have inappropriate conversations despite the tender ears of their audience. This shop is not that shop. Yes, it's located on Route 1. And the owner has a firm grip on the atmosphere of the shop. Juan, the owner, does a great job hiring talented, respectful and punctual barbers. They have never cursed while my family was in the barber shop. They always treat the boys like little men. And they have engaging conversations with anyone interested in speaking at that time. Since I'm a young professional (at the time of this post) time is very important to me and my family. Especially on the weekends when we get haircuts. This shop opens at 6:30 am on Saturday mornings. By 7:30 am, all 5 barbers are in the shop ready to cut hair. This past Saturday (without an appointment), I walked in at 8:30 am and out by 10 am with 3 fresh fades. Not many shop provide such a quick turnaround and fresh fades. This shop also takes credit cards. No more running to the ATM before you head to the barber shop. Now you can pay the same way you pay everywhere. With plastic. I appreciate having a barber shop that's professional, kid friendly, punctual and filled with skilled barbers. It was my first time actually inside the shop, I brought my son to get his haircut, it was his second time in. Mannn, this place is dope! Immediately was offered something to drink, which was pretty cool. And the waiting area is like a little man-cave, big screen with sports on, a cool little fireplace, and comfy chairs. Kwan cut his hair, and man this guy is so cool, and took his time with my sons hair, which I really appreciated, i hate when people rush through... and it looks really good!! I couldn't recommend True reflections more. Juan been cutting my hair for 10 years now. He's gone from last chair at another shop to owning his own and flourishing. No nonsense in this establishment. Great conversation but everyone is always courteous, always clean, recent renovations give it a great vibe, and most importantly - I've yet to see a noticeably bad cut from any one of the barbers in the shop. Been in northern VA almost 20 years now and I've had a few good barbers and some ok barbers but no one that was capable of keeping my business for 7 years after I move 30 miles away... I was in dire need of a good barber in the NOVA area. I was looking far and wide for a legit barber that could cater to a person who is picky. I've tried all sorts of barbers and none of them could show the same type of excellence my usual barber does. That is until I came here, I walked in and it gave that feel of a laid back barbershop that you could be yourself and just come to get a haircut. All sorts of conversation was flowing throughout the shop..but it felt normal. I saw on Yelp that Cedrick was the guy to see when getting a haircut. When I sat in his chair he greeted me and asked what type of haircut I wanted. I showed him a pic and he cut it the way I requested! The only reason why I cut it down to a 4-star was because my line wasn't as great, but it wasn't bad either, but overall the cut was the best I've had in months! Greetings Fellow Yelpers, If you didn't already know, it is extremely difficult to find a skilled and consistent barber in Northern Virginia. I have lived in Falls Church since mid December 2014 and have been to 4 different barbershop (I won't name them this review is to serve the purpose of True Reflections). They were either unprofessional, unwelcoming, or flat out could not cut. Let's get into the True Reflections review. The location of the shop is in a small plaza in Alexandria. I haven't had issue finding parking as of yet but I can see that it could potentially be and issue on a busy Saturday. The first time I walked into the shop I was immediately greeted by the barbers and asked if I need a cut. I was told to go to a barber by the name of "Q" so I had a seat after articulating that information. As I was sitting and waiting on my cut, the first thing I noticed was how clean the shop was. Now I'm not just talking about there not being any hair on the floor. I'm talking about clean seats, clean mirrors, and clean equipment. You could really tell that these men took pride in their place of business. The second thing I notice was the precision of each barber. Although I was told to go to "Q", after watching each barber work I would have felt comfortable going to either one of them. In terms of the environment in the shop, it was typical of your average African American barbershop. Sports talk, jokes, chess board, two TV's and vending machines for snacks and drinks. NOW WHAT REALLY MATTERS, THE CUT. "Q" was very attentive when I was instructing him on how I wanted my hair cut. He made sure he understood what I was looking for before he proceeded. At the end of the cut I was very pleased. He did not push my hairline back or even attempt to recreate my natural hairline in order to get the straightest line possible (Pushing hairlines back seems to be a common theme with the barber that I have experienced in VA). My lines were straight, my fade actually faded, and he changed the blade of the straight razor before taking it to my face. Overall I had a great experience at True Reflections. I'm actually writing this review as I wait to get in the seat. The reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 was because "Q" told me that he does not schedule appointments. I live approximately 30 mins away. Could be worse if it's during peak hours. I value my time so it's not ideal to travel 30+ mins and then wait for 2 or 3 people to get their hair cut before I am seated. If I had the ability to schedule appointments there is no question that this shop would deserve a 5/5. read more

I came here after getting a bad haircut from another barbershop and the haircut I received here made me look and feel like a new and better man.
