I was looking for a shooting range to try out my newly acquired pistols and found Fat Cat just a…read morefew miles up the road. It's in an industrial/rural section of Bridgewater, the perfect place to make big bang noises! Down south they have deluxe ranges that are like ChuckECheeze for gun enthusiasts...this is not one of those. How could it be in a state like Massachusetts? What this place is, is a down-to-earth, abiding by the rules, make it happen, get your shit done type of place. In my experience, in this state, gun shop owners/workers tend to be jaded beyond reason and come off as rude and cynical mostly because of the mounds of red tape that must be waded through in order to simply do a days worth of business so they can keep the doors open for the wanting public. I found NONE of this here. The folks working were kind and helpful to me. In fact, (embarrassing for me) I was having trouble with the double-trigger safety on my new gun and sheepishly went to the desk for help. Brian, while in the middle of dealing with another customer, hopped down to the range and gave me a quick lesson. No prob. He didn't have to do that. But he DID! If you're looking for a Hollywood showroom, you won't see it here. There are no machine guns for rent on the walls, no strobe lighting or dancing girls. But I did see lots of very respectable guns for sale for very respectable prices. And the firing range is up to snuff, all you need to get your holster fodder sighted in and let the guns do the worrying for you at the end of a long day. I grew up in NH and shooting was always a part of life. We spent pounds of rounds in the sand pits and gravel quarries where you weren't afraid to get mud on your boots and thorns in your ass. The folks at Fat Cat understand this concept well. If you need fancy schmancy coddling then move to Ft. Lauderdale. As for the locals, go down and squeeze off a box like a real human being and sleep well tonight! God bless you Fat Cat.
