We hosted an event in late February for about 75 people. The level of professionalism from Nichole, culinary sales manager, was second to none. The experience was seamless and stress free throughout, from planning the menu to logistics. We had inclement weather the day of, and last minute accommodations were handled gracefully and efficiently. It is clear that the passion for hospitality flows throughout the entire organization. Lily and Margarita served us that evening and were an absolute joy to interact with. Their presentation was beautiful, food always fresh and they were always present and of service to our guests. The bartender Antonio was also great, kept the energy going all night and kept our guests well "hydrated!" We've used many caterers in the past, but True Flavors is the only to consistently exceed our expectations. read more

We hired True Flavors when we were throwing a number of events to raise money for scholarships. We wanted to have three large events in the course of 5 months and knew the team at True Flavors would be able to come through for us, and we were right. The food, décor and staffing was all first rate! Every person from the True Flavors staff was always helpful from start to finish with all three of our events. They helped us create the most amazing custom menus, had servers dressed in theme and provided décor that further enhanced our themes. Each of the 200-300 guests at each event, were delighted with the food and service, feeling personally catered to. On wedding day, everything that I was hoping for and expecting from True Flavors was blown away with what was delivered. Everything from the food, the setup, the bar area, to the service was better than what I had hoped for. When you get compliments on how amazing the coffee was that was served with the cake - weeks later! - and see your wedding food posted on social media with people asking who catered in the comments, you know you made the right choices. My husband and I wanted the food to be very San Antonio, Texas but wanted something more that fajitas, rice, and beans. Delicious, but it's a lot of brown. We choose foods with more color: watermelon aguasfrescas, Texas quail bites, arepas, elote, shrimp cocktail, and a taqueria station. Hands down, the best wedding food ever! And I'm not just saying that because it was our wedding. True Flavors was fantastic to work with. We reserved our reception at The Bright Shawl over a year before our wedding date, so we were working with the True Flavors team very early on. We knew that delicious food and an open bar was a must-have at our reception. Jessica at True Flavors worked with us to make sure we had our dream menu and stayed within our budget. The day-of banquet manager was awesome as well. He made sure that everyone was taken care of. If we asked for anything, him and his staff were on it! Lastly, the food was SO good. I shopped around a good two months before selecting a caterer. My initial contact with True Flavors was over the phone where I first met Devra. We spoke about the details of my wedding, expectations, likes and dislikes. Later we scheduled a "tasting" (it was more like a feast). Here we were able to sample everything we talked about and more! Devra put together a few little extra things for us to try based on some of the things we spoke about over the phone. She showed us around the kitchen and even introduced us to the chef. The kitchen was clean and very organized (which probably isn't a detail most people pay any mind to but I think it speaks volumes). At this meeting we also met Mark (one of the owners). For those of you that don't know True Flavors is owned by the people of La Gloria and The Fruteria two very successful restaurants in San Antonio. Mark and Devra sat down with us to help us meet a budget that we were comfortable with. They were so understanding and easy to talk to. Throughout the wedding planning process Devra was so easy to get in contact with and very flexible with meetings. She always returned my emails, phone calls and text messages in a timely manner. Devra also so organized and on top of everything she would remind me that about what was due or that I need to start working on certain things. When it came to my wedding day I was at ease and knew that True Flavors would deliver as promised. I got tons of compliments on the adorable hor d'oeuvres during cocktail hour and the tasty food. True Flavors went above and beyond my expectations. Devra was a complete blessing! When I need any other catering I will definitely contact True Flavors again! This review is for their (I think) new location off I-10, as I couldn't find it listed on Yelp. True Flavors recently catered an event for us, and it was awesome. The food service and setup went smoothly and they were incredibly easy to work with. All of the managers made sure we had contact information should anything not work out, so at least we had some way of getting touch with someone else who could fix things. The vendor they got for the food also got super high marks from all of our guests, as the food was unanimously voted as being super delicious. read more

My husband and I really wanted authentic Mexican food for our wedding at the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio. I am a born and raised San Antonioan and wanted nothing more than a spectacular authentic menu. We met with Devra at their offices near downtown SA and were treated to a wonderful tasting, most of which we decided to include in our wedding menu. We were very pleased with the beginning of the process, but things turned sour when we started working with Devra and her team on an estimate for our catering and rental services. We easily went back and forth, via e-mail and phone, at least 10-12 times to get the estimate correct. Each estimate continued to come back with simple math errors and incorrect menu selections. It took well over a month for us to get everything straightened out, just to get our contract correct before we signed it. As our wedding approached, we began to get push back from Devra and her team regarding the layout of the food/bar at the venue. It became so difficult to deal with that we let our wedding planner take over all communication. We were supposed to meet a representative from True Flavors one final time to do our walk-through of the venue early in the morning, a time everyone agreed on. She appeared 30 minutes late, claiming she had been out too late the night before. At least lie! At the wedding, the food was amazing and everyone was going back for seconds and even thirds. We could not hear enough about how excellent the food was. And the little bit I had was phenomenal. My husband raved about the food, as did my parents. Many guests told me it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. That's exactly what I wanted. True Flavors is truly the best caterer in SA for Mexican food, but you have to be willing to work a little more with their staff, because they can be difficult if you're a perfectionist like me. read more

STOP - please read this review before booking True Flavors for your special event. I recently booked this caterer for my daughter's wedding in April and although the food was good, the catering service was most definitely not. We chose three speciality cocktails, bought all of the ingredients, provided the recipes and were assured it would be no problem to serve the drinks throughout the evening. Sadly, the bartenders were never provided the recipes, when guests asked for a cocktail they were told the ingredients were not available, although they were there, so we ended up taking home cases of alcohol and ingredients that were never used. The beautiful appetizer trays were placed in locations where guests were not and even after I asked that the trays be moved, they were not, so all of that food was wasted. The dinner food service was incredibly slow. One of the desserts was supposed to be S'mores cooked over a hibachi grill but the marshmallows were thrown on the tables in the bags they came from in from the grocery store. Last but not least, our wedding planner wrote a comment note regarding all of these items to the caterer and his response was, "I will look into it" and we never heard another word. True Flavors catered our wedding in January at Casa Hernan. We had a small wedding but really wanted to enjoy delicious food with our closest friends and family. True Flavors made our vision come true and every single guest raved about the food! I didn't want to worry about decorating or centerpieces so Devra created these amazing setups with tortilla chips, salsas, and breadsticks for the middle of the tables- they were functional, tasty, and looked really great. Instead of a sit-down or traditional buffet, I wanted stations around the room with our different food choices. This was no problem and each station had excellent servers and was decorated nicely. Overall, a great experience with this company- they made our wedding stress-free and created a memorable meal for our guests! Some thought it was pricey, but we felt it was well worth it. read more

Coming in from out of town for our wedding, we weren't familiar with our catering options. While we tried a few during a visit, we felt like we were Goldilocks - they were either too expensive or too unorganized. When we connected with Devra at True Flavors, we received high level service that we were able to fit into our budget. Devra was extremely responsive and helpful, explaining the options we had to consider. Wedding food tends to get a bad rap, but our guests raved about the food and many told us after the wedding that they had stalked the appetizer passers because the bacon wrapped quail was so amazing. (Yes, sounds kind of strange, but trust them and at least try it!). The catering and bartender service was professional throughout the evening. I would definitely recommend True Flavors (and Devra!) to anyone considering catering in San Antonio. read more
