This place was one of the gems. More specifically than Oxfam it is an Oxfam Music Shop and it's really one of the best offerings Oxfam has. There are boxes filled with records of all genres from bluegrass to techno and a good selection of CDs and music books too. The prices are much better than you'd find in London and more akin to a charity shop than a record store. For me the best part was the classical music selection. 10 records for £5. That's 50p for an LP. Insane. I was giddy, I couldn't take too many back with me but I managed to find 10 with some supremely awesome arrangements and wonderfully designed covers. At 50p you can just pick 10 random records and take them home to listen to, if you don't like it you can redonate it at no really great loss and if you do then it's a bonus. I really wish I lived closer so I could go back time and time again. Also, erm, the staff were supremely hot. I mean it's kind of a cliché that hot indie types would work in an Oxfam music store but they do. Seriously.

Sometimes there can be some real classics to purchase, and when I was in there a customer enquired about an Iron Maiden LP which I think was priced around £35, so some collectors items can be had. I bought two pieces of sheet music which they priced at 99p each (both single songs). They have music for piano, recorder, organ, keyboard, double bass and guitar. I was very tempted by a Placebo CD for £3.99 in excellent condition although I refrained. Definitely worth a look if you're into music, and also want to help a worthwhile cause.

They also sell jukebox records and memorabilia, which is all reasonably priced. They also have a website and links on amazon and ebay, so if you want to see what's in store before you go, it's helpful in that respect. I have seen it shut once or twice, so you may want to check out opening times before you go, but it's a great little place for vintage music.

While not a big store, it genuinely has a book shop feel to it with classical music playing in the background and a small area for sitting and reading. While the books aren't as cheap as other charity shops, you're much more likely to find a gem here. Recommended!

With my next book club meeting looming I was in desperate need of a traditional copy of this work. So, as I was passing, I popped into this store on the off chance. Not for the first time my prayers were answered by an Oxfam shop. Sitting waiting for me was just the book I needed, in paperback and in excellent condition for a mere £2.99. I quickly browsed the rest of the store and it was in perfect condition. There is a nice reading area at the front of the store if you want to take your book purchasing a bit slower than mine. They also have a small but good selection of DVDs, CDs and vinyl. Thanks once again Oxfam!

So first, this is a two-story store with vinyl downstairs and CDs upstairs. The downstairs is IMPRESSIVELY organized, which just tickled my fancy because I love it when things are organized. All of the sleeves are empty - the records are kept behind the counter downstairs. And even when you walk up with a stack of records, the organization is so good that they can easily locate all of the albums you wish you wish to purchase in a flash. The staff was great and friendly and they really knew their music too. The young man helping us had a deep discussion with my husband about some artists I don't know. It was a really good stop. And bonus points for the cool vintage cassettes painted on the stairwell.

Its a great little shop, run by two big south african chaps who are always there and happy to help. I play the saxophone, and have often wandered in for a repair to a key or pad that needs mending, there is nowhere better in the area. They are always ready to mend it, and I usually get a 'come back in a hour of so and it'll be done for ya' comment. Prices are good for minor repairs too. The shop also has a big selection of instruments for sale, mainly pianos. The shop is a converted chapel, therefore it has the high ceilings and space for all these instruments! One thing I would say is that it isn't always clear whether the shop is open or not, often I have gone in and had to shout for anyone to notice I'm in the shop! there is a loud 'BEEP' when you walk in, but sometimes you are not greeted. This is a minor criticism however and should not detract from what is a valuable edition to the South Northants high street. Very highly recommended.
