For years, I consistently communicated that I preferred cooler ash tones and did not want brassy, yellow, orange, or overly processed blonde results.
Despite repeatedly expressing these concerns, warmth and over-lightening continued to be an issue, yet I remained loyal, supportive, appreciative of only the positive in her work. I always tipped generously, reached out to her during all her boys births, holidays, and recently gave her a little hair product gift.
Most recently, after discussing the look I wanted for an upcoming appointment, Amber explained that achieving the color I wanted would require multiple sessions and more appointment time due to previous color in my hair -- which I completely understood and agreed to. I even explained that whatever could not be completed during the 2 hour scheduled appointment could simply be done over future appointments.
Instead of working through the situation professionally, my appointment was cancelled abruptly by her, and I was ultimately told there was "miscommunication," that I would "always have different expectations," and that she was no longer comfortable taking me as a client. This bipolar change from her really took me by surprise.
For the miscommunication was always hers followed by excuses.
I was always upfront and clear on what I wanted done. Yet, she always ignored it or maybe lacked the patience to actually care?
What hurt most was not being told the process would take time. It was feeling that my concerns over the years were never truly being heard, followed by the abrupt ending of a nearly 10-year client relationship rather than an honest conversation and willingness to work through a very solvable situation together. Her interpersonal skills are obviously gone. I believe long-term clients deserve professionalism, communication, and mutual respect, especially when they have remained loyal,
understanding, and supportive for many years.
I do not recommend this stylist, Amber, due to her lack of truly listening, damaging my hair throughout the many years, making excuses for the damage she did to my hair throughout the years, but most importantly her lack of class and utter rudeness, which has been very obvious in her cold dismissive demeanor and how she presents herself.
I've observed the other wonderful hairdressers at Kent's Studio, and in all honesty, Amber is not a good fit for this hair studio, due to her overall demeanor and appearance which I overlooked those "red flags", throughout the years.
I guess I'm one of those people, that try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and see the positive in them, until they prove me wrong.
