My Porsche Cayenne's summer wheels were in some serious need of help. I had curb rash on three of the four wheels and nicks and chips from rocks as well. I was going to get a new set of aftermarket wheels when a friend of mine who had messed up a couple of his wheels while parking told me about Dylan's and then showed me his finished wheels once they were done and I couldn't believe my eyes. His wheels looked like brand new. I knew they were going to be the ones to fix my wheels. A few days later I drove out to Dylan's to get a price quote. I meet with Mark and Dylan to discuss getting my wheels done. I was originally going to keep my wheels silver as that is how they came from the factory, but since there was no extra charge to change the color i decided to change them to black to match my black exterior trim. Then a couple of weeks later I went back out to make an appointment to get my wheels done. I was leaning more towards matte black, but couldn't make up my mind. Mark showed me gloss and matte black wheels that they had done so I could get a better idea of what each option would look like. I ultimately decided on gloss black to better match my gloss black exterior trim. He was even honest enough to let me know that gloss black would be harder to keep clean compared to matte black. I have 21" Sport Edition wheels on my Cayenne and Dylan's charged me $500.00 for everything. Tire and TPMS removal, fixing all of my wheel damage, stripping off the old paint, powder coating my wheels black and remounting them back on. They would have even powder coated my wheel's emblems to match, but I had already bought a new black set as my old emblems color Porsche logos were badly faded. I was even given a $20 discount for paying cash so I ended up paying $480 out the door. The entire powder coating process had a one day turn around. If you drop off your vehicle by 9am it will be done around 3pm the same day! I dropped my Cayenne off on Sunday around 12 noon and went to pick it up the next day at 3pm. As I approached Dylan's to pick up my Cayenne I could see it off in the distance. I got more and more excited the closer I got. Once I pulled up and parked I felt like a little kid on Christmas! I could not believe how good they looked and was so glad that I went with gloss black. That was how my Cayenne should have come from the factory in Stuttgart. Powder coating is also a great option for brake calipers and engine parts as well. It has been a little over a month since I had my wheels powder coated and they are still holding up quite well. I highly recommend Dylan's to anyone needing to get their wheels repaired and powder coated.

ICS Automotive Machines in Pittsburgh is the machine shop that would be on the Andy Griffith Show…read morebecause they provide small-hometown service, reasonable prices and quality work. The work is only done by the two business owners. Engine was a BMW S54 from a 2004 M3. I called several shops and one told me that he would not touch my engine for $1 million dollars. Another was too busy and a third shop hung up on me. I choose ICS because Bob spent time discussing their work on the phone. I drove almost 2 hours to Pittsburgh and Bob explained their process for 30 minutes and showed me the blown head gasket that caused the low compression in the cylinders. I explained my budget to Bob. So, he called after he accessed the engine to provide the options and prices for the head, crank, and block but I was not sure about the valve job because of my budget. Therefore, Bob tested the head for leaks and called me back and told me that the head did not currently need a valve job. I decided not to do the valves but changed my mind within 24 hours because I was not sure how long the valve seats would last on a head with 186,000 miles. Bob reduced the price of the valve job by at least 25% from the quoted price. AFTER I RECEIVED THE ENGINE FROM ICS I told Bob that the piston rings from online retailers were expensive at $732 - $834. So, I ordered racing pistons with the rings from an online retailer for $823 and Bob told me that I would not be happy with pistons containing 2618 alloy. Therefore, I canceled the online order and Bob ordered the rings for me at only $107. The correct rings for the engine were sent but they did not meet the specs. So, he provided a refund and spent 90 minutes on Hastings's website searching for the correct piston rings. Bob asked his distributor about NPR rings after I told him that I found NPR rings in England. Unfortunately, I had to purchase the rings in Europe because NPR USA does not manufacture the rings. My bank is an hour and half drive from my location but the bank is close to ICS. So, Bob offered to deposit the check for the piston-rings refund at the bank on his drive home. Additionally, Bob spent over 2 hours on the phone, at least 2 hours attempting to find piston rings to save me money, and at least 1 - 2 hours replying to my emails for no charge. I also heard about an instance when Bob drove 45 minutes to help someone after they installed their engine. Bob determined that the issue was the newly rebuilt carburetor from a different company. So, he called a friend who is a carburetor expert who fixed the carburetor for free. ICS Automotive Machines in Pittsburgh does great and honest machine work at a fair price but I wanted to show that they care about others, will do their best to keep the cost within budget, and go out of their way to help others.

After waiting 30+ minutes, I went inside to ask about my tires only to be yelled & screamed at by employees threatening to "never have taken my car in" and "don't call their shop again". This is my FIRST time here. I was expecting a somewhat easy fix, but this has been absolute HELL.
