I've been…read moregoing there for a couple months and there is this old lady who has her own corner who is always taking bad about me whenever I am there. Today I went in and she was mad when I came in even though they were open for business. She kept saying under her breath shd had some stuff to do in her corner. She was angry about watching me and my sister as we were shopping because we she believed we would steal. You would think that as a returning customer she would know by now we are not like that. Sh then chose to talk behind my back to another worker about how I was just "browsing around" and not buying. Of course I have to "browse around" when there is a ton of stuff to sift through!!! She is a very racist women I would say based on my religion and the way I dress. My sister who has Down Syndrome went in with me last month. My sister was tired and sat on one of the old chairs. The same lady goes off my sister ranting with another worker yet again not realizing my sister has a disability. She said "why are they sitting if they won't buy". I'm disappointed at the lack of respect given to me as a customer. I will no longer go here again despite the good finds unless I am given an apology. Another note, I am a LOCAL OF COHOES IN HIGH SCHOOL.

I am no stranger to flea markets, but what I loved about this one was the friendliness of the vendors. All were welcoming and willing to strike up conversation, especially about music. A great deal of finds hide here, including vinyl, China, jewelry, gemstones, print media, art, antiques, clothing, vintage, handbags, etc. There is a little something for everyone. Overall, a very fun experience. Try it out!

Woodstock is a diverse and eclectic town but it's also famous for its Mower's Flea Market every Saturday and Sunday in a big grassy area. Hubs and I have always made it a point every time we come to Woodstock in the last 20 years, to stop here first (out of nostalgia) before making the drive down home. Quite honestly, we've scored several hand-made pieces and a vintage Dashiki hubs had found for me. Mower's is made up of several vendors all selling something different. Over the years though, the amount of vendors have dropped. And forget about COVID last year- because it didn't take place and was weird looking at vendor-less lot when we came to the area for a day trip in the Fall of '20. But alas, Mower's is back in business and we were delighted to see more vendors (almost) recently like we used to 20 years ago. You'll find antiques, memorabilia, some kitsch- the same way you'll find locally made products. The way I see it, it's a shopping haven for me. Just make sure you get here before they close for the season in November.

On Route 28 in Arkville, NY, hubs and I have found great Magic antique+vintage pieces at a serious bargain. These folks have been here as long as I've been coming up to the Catskills when the entire field was FILLED elbow-deep with vendors. They've dwindled over the years and you can count the stalls with your hand now. Regardless, spend a few solid hours just browsing through what they have because you'll find a piece or two that'll catch your eye with the limited supply. One particular vendor name Lou- who we've purchased from- used to have loads of vintage pieces- and somehow sold commercial cleaning supplies (brand new) for cheap. Bizarre mix for an outdoor flea market- but it has worked. Another vendor who we met on a Sunday name Federika(sp?) sold me a $30 heavy-a-f*ck mirror that I couldn't pass up. I also couldn't haggle with that. For the poundage on it, I swore it was at least $75 or more. Oh, and bring cash- because these folks most likely, not have a Square.

Lou started by selling household items on the old Flea with a few others. You may find tremendous items, or nothing, probably in-between. But worth the trip to Arkville on NY 28S.

It is open during the warm months on Saturdays and Sundays and the number of vendors varies depending on the weather. People come from as far away as Connecticut and Boston to search for treasures The vendors are an eclectic cast of characters with wares ranging from antiques and junk to produce and baked goods. The days we visited there were about 25 dealers. Haggling is encouraged but these guys are pros. You want to get there early on Saturday to get the best selection of treasures. Sally, who run the market with her family, is friendly and keeps things organized. The restrooms are clean with plenty of hand sanitizer and flowers. There is plenty of parking as well. The coffee at the food trailer is good, we did not try the food.

However, in the last few years the market had become increasing politicized which takes away from the relaxing charm. A week after the last school shootings in TX, the market has several (I counted about four) booths selling gun-related paraphernalia, flags with AR-15 image saying "Trump for Guns", "F... Biden", etc. The market was more fun and charming when it only sold antiques, collectibles, handmade objects, and homemade/grown goods. Why can't the market return to this rather than increasingly represent the division, hate, and violence in the US?

Today at 10 AM, I delivered a trunk full of good stuff both practical and collectible after decluttering yesterday. I returned at 11:00 with more quality donations from my daughter. At this time, I was very pleased to see that several items that I donated earlier were already marked and sitting in a cart ready to be put on the shelves! That was a fast turn around! The staff at the store work diligently processing donations and assisting customers. The parking lot was full. Lots of "pickers" looking to find collectible items that they can sell at flea markets. Really good finds can be sold on eBay. Glad they support CM so it can provide many great programs including those for homeless individuals, women/children in crises who need housing and support, and those who need nutritious meals. Besides household items, the thrift shop also welcomes people who shop for clothing, handbags, shoes, toys, frames, records, CDs, and books. Everything is well organized. On our way back to our car, my daughter noticed that someone had already bought a few of the items she donated. It made us feel good. We also had bags of coats, mittens, and boots to place in the Red Bins outside of the store.
