Karate, in general, has helped our son with his focus, respect and discipline (as well as his performance in school). Not that he was a bad kid to begin with, but everyone can use a little help, right? We are not sorry we took this path. Infinity has a terrific bunch of teachers - from the owner on down, they are dedicated to helping each individual in class. They have a positive attitude and the kids really like and respect their instructors. I enjoy watching from the viewing area - it's impressive what these folks do and what these kids learn... The graduation ceremonies are nice ways to recognize each person's achievement. There are also demonstrations by the instructors to help remind the kids where they are headed. I have two recommendations from this: 1) If you're thinking about karate for your child (or yourself - they have adult classes too!), try it! Buyer beware of a place that pushes past accolades, or their father's past accolades. We had experience with a different ATA organization before we moved here, and I wish we had sought out ATA again. Instead, we found a place close to home and the difference is night and day. ATA focuses on character development, real skills, encouraging kids and preventing bullying. The other place focused on money. If you have any doubts, please just try ATA West. We actually got started here through a Groupon, and I am so glad we did. My 7 year old came home tonight asking me what he could do to learn more about self-discipline. He has committed to caring for our dog and running nightly clean-ups-encouraging the whole family to do this. He wants to show us that he can take initiative and do these things without being reminded. I have no doubt he will follow through. This is why I love the ATA program. It is holistic and truly helps your child develop virtues that serve them for a life time.

The heavyweight lifters corner still smells like the worst smell in the world you can think of. I see they have a private area for women so they don't have to endure sexism. The one week that I was in there, I had a guy look at me really weird and felt uncomfortable. It's just not the place that it was when it opened. Except for figuring your membership cost out in two minutes to be everything you've gotten in your pocket.
