I was hoping my review of Gregory Contracting would be a favorable one, as I have had a fond…read moreprevious experience with them and was hoping this time would be the same. My mother needed a new roof on the house and I had two bids for this. Gregory Contracting was higher but with my past experience and knowing the quality of work they did for me, I felt it was worth it. SORRY, THIS REVIEW IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. Around December 23, 2024 we signed the contract, paid the deposit fee and felt good about this project. We were told work would start in aprox 4 weeks and that they would put a tarp over the roof to prevent any moisture from entering the house. Here is the start of the problem, they did not put a tarp on the roof, only removed any leaves and other debris from the area. Around January 20th , I called them and asked if they had any idea when the roof would be started, they told me January 27. I said great and believed that this is when they would start. January 20, received an E-mail from Paul, saying he was going to the job site and make sure all of the material was ordered for the project. I asked him when he was going to be out there as I would like to met him and see if there was anything that needed to be done before the job started, never heard a word from him. January 27th came and left, no one came to work on the roof and I did not receive any call. Material was delivered but no roofers showed up. January 28th, I called Gregory and they told me there was a problem with a previous job but work should start January 29 but no later than January 30. January 30, 2:10pm no roofer showed up. Called Gregory again asking when the job might start. Received , what I believed, an angry call from Paul saying that he sent me a text earlier in the day saying the roofers were delayed but they will be there today. I did not receive a text. He was right, they came and dropped off a contractor trailer and a dump trailer, than left. I also received an E-mail from Heather on January 30, stating that Progress payment is needed for the work done. I informed Heather that the roofers have not done any work on the as of yet. January 31, the roofer replaced some rotted wood and the saddle around the chimney. February 3, I went to Gregory and paid them the progress payment, they have not asked for it as of yet but I thought I would build trust and good will so we paid it. February 4th, received on E-mail from Paul stating they needed to have a change order signed as the rotten wood was not part of the bid. I understood this and went on Wednesday February 5th to Gregory and signed the change order. Today at 1:44 pm Paul sent me an E-mail stating that the change order needs to be paid in full in order for them to continue working. As of right now we have paid Gregory Contracting 90% of the cost to do the job with only some rotted wood replaced and a saddle installed, and now I have to make a special trip to pay this $1,800.00 change order in order for them to continue with the work. Not sure but I have also been selected for jury duty and may not be able to make this special trip. Also our paying the second payment without being asked for it means nothing to them. The other interesting think is a permit is needed from the county to replace a roof. This permit is required "BEFORE"' the work is to start as it is to be in a visible location. As of today February 5, no permit is posted. I guess I will have to get the permit as Gregory is unable to do this. Gregory Contracting is horrible at communications both with the customer and among themselves. Right now, I wish I would have gone with bid #2.

Avoid Gregory Contracting at all costs! Very unfriendly and give unreliable estimates!read more

We hired Two Brothers Concrete LLC October 2021 to remove an existing cracked up slab and replace…read moreit with a thicker slab to support our machinery. I informed them of the weight of the equipment we would be placing on the slab and Josiah said 6" of fiber reinforced concrete would be plenty, when I suggested we use steel mesh also Josiah told me the fiber is enough and I took his word for it. When they had the old slab removed and bare base I offered them to use my plate compactor to compact the base, Josiah said that was not needed. I was not going to second guess the expert in concrete, and let them go about the job. We waited the full cure time as suggested by Josiah before moving equipment onto the slab. Within 2-3 months the slab inside was cracking and sinking in areas, the driveway heaved, damaged the door trim and cracked horribly. We don't see any evidence of fiber reinforcement in the concrete either. I have given them two chances to respond to me privately with no response, so I am putting this out there to hopefully save someone else the money and aggravation of having to re-do other peoples work. This job was paid in full the week it was done for a grand total of $19,800. Dismantling and moving the equipment and fixing the sinking floor will cost 10x that at this point.
