Overall the food was okay, I would have preferred some more spice in my curry or some pepper sauce on the side. But overall it had some flavor. The chicken was tender and fell off the bone. They do not serve everything on the menu every day so I recommend calling ahead or checking the daily menu online. I believe there are some updated photos of the menu on the yelp page. It's a small hole in the wall restaurant. There is one table in the restaurant so I would plan on picking up your food to take home. All of the food is pre made and served from a chafing dish. So it is still very hot. Service was pretty typical of a Jamaican restaurant. Straight forward and to the point. Not a lot of fluff in the conversation. I got my food quickly and was on my way. This is a cash only establishment and there is no ATM on site so come prepared.

I wanted something warm since I was chilly and their Dominican sancocho is tasty and hardy beef stew with yuca and served with yellow rice. I'm always looking for this and since I've found it here, I'm happy I had it. Also ordered chicken with yellow rice and got a few diff chicken dishes and they were both so good, but I must say I simply loved my sancocho. The people working were very friendly and welcoming and there's a huge area to sit. On the weekends they have bands and music. Don't look just at the outside. Don't hesitate going inside and checking out their steam table full of their delicious food to order for a great quality and quantity!

Thankfully, I went a few hours after they opened so they were fully stocked with patties. I ordered one of each - curry chicken, spinach, veggie, and beef. I placed an order for a large oxtail dinner, large jerk chicken, and medium brown stew chicken meal. Each meal comes with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I also asked for extra gravy on the rice. I waited for about 10 minutes and received my hefty order. My dad had the oxtails, and said he wish he had more oxtails in the dinner as there was only 4 or 5. However they were on the larger size in comparison to other Jamaican spots. My mom loved the spice on the Jerk chicken as did I. It had that kick you expect and needed. My brown stew chicken was very good. The chicken was tender and the browning sauce was really good especially with the rice and peas. We did all say we wish there was more peas within the rice. The patties were fresh and I had both the spinach and curry chicken. The curry had a kick and was very savory. It made me want to order their curry chicken meal the next time I stop in. Also, did I mention they give you ALOT of food, so you will have plenty of leftovers.

I called again and they were open so I ordered, Oxtail, Port Jerk, and 2 Beef patties. I arrived early but the (I wonder if the owner Wayne?) opened the door. Question to the restaurant; Why are you open only Thursday-Saturday? Answer: Our kitchen needs time to make magic. It is located at Pinellas Park, near a barber shop and a tattoo parlor. The place was empty yet not sketchy. I can smell the chef making her magic. The place smelled like Mama Helen's kitchen. I wanted to taste the greens and they gave me a taste. It was different and tasted made with sweet cider. It was very good. The rice is special, and to describe the flavor; It was a bit tangy and heaven, it was better than a place near USF. One thing about me, if you ask me to pay a premium, you better not skimp on my food. My order was big enough for two normal people. Look for yourself in the photos I posted. Pork Jerk was like what I've had in Jamaica. Sweetmeat. The oxtail I am saving for later tonight. I will follow up with a second visit.

It was…read morenear where we were staying so we came here with a group of 8 - and they were totally able to accommodate us. This ended up being such a great place and experience that we came back a second time on the weekend - and they were still able to seat our group of 8 pretty quickly despite being very busy. Amazing. The stone crab was allegedly delicious and was ordered a second time on our return. The first night I had the island rice bowl with jerk chicken. It was lovely and I ate every last bite. The rice itself was a bit bland but the flavors around it were great and mixed in with it to make a yummy combo. Any time I'm outside of Wisconsin I try to order an Old Fashioned, but this was definitely not their skillset. It came out tasting like watered down bourbon in an orange slice and a red cherry. So the next time I looked to something else. There were no great looking drinks with brown liquor, so I tried the sangria happy hour (literally a 24/7 happy hour). It was better than most sangrias I've ordered in restaurants so I was content with my choice. Multiple people in our group ended up with the jerk chicken, and they raved about it. A lot of our meals over the week were compared to Rumba's jerk chicken. We got some kind of chicken nachos as an appetizer, and oh my was it heavenly. I'm not a nachos person, but these were to die for. And the chicken on them was scrumptious. My second trip I wasn't starving, so I got the Southern Street Corn Caesar - cuz how amazing does that sound?? Well, it was basically just a Caesar salad (don't get me wrong, it was a good Caesar salad) with a few pieces of corn in it. It was indeed blistered and lovely, but it made absolutely zero impact on the salad. I expected it to be kind of the star of the dish given the name. Oh well. I added blackened shrimp to my Caesar. A great salad regardless, clean plate club once again. I thought this place was great. A casual atmosphere but still a nice setting with good food and super friendly staff. Our first night, Owen was our server and he was an absolute gem. Our second time I am pretty sure we had Tiffany, and she was also a delight. Definitely the best two servers we had anywhere during our stay in Florida. Thank you!

At least 20 years. They use to have a location in Oldsmar and it closed. This one was their most recent location. Maybe a couple years old. I'm not too sure. This location is brighter and more open. It definitely has the coastal FL vibes. It's not on the beach. But you still have those feels. Plenty of parking which is always my concern but the have their own parking lot. I was excited to see they have an early dining menu btw 11:30am to 5:45pm, we actually didn't choose from there. A few things about Rumba that I loved are their mini corn breads that they pass out to you in the beginning. They are so good. Second, they have buy one get one free drinks like sangria or well drinks or rum punch. I don't get mixed drinks often bc they are too expensive and too strong. I did this time and it was 2 for $6.99 and they were so good. I didn't want much so I decided on the shrimp bisque. It's thick and hearty and comes with a slice of toast to dip it. That's the best part. My husband had a bowl with chicken. These prices weren't bad for the area and the service was great. Our server was very nice and helpful and cheery. So glad Rumba is on this side of town, they have nice booths and tables inside and outside seating as well.
