I recently visited Tropical Trader Shrimp after a day at the beach and I was not disappointed! The outdoor area was so cute and such a fun beachy vibe. My friend and I both ordered the fish and chips and I can honestly say it was the best fish and chips I've ever had!! The portions were a good size and the staff was super friendly. Way better than stopping at a fast food restaurant on the way back to Florida State. 10000/10 we will definitely be back!! This places is a blessing. I had a job interview and didn't have a whole lot of service. They helped me make it through it. They were so kind, and the food was absolutely great. We had the creamy seafood and garlic pasta. The burgers got rave reviews from my brother. Seriously, this establishment is a diamond amongst coal. I was a tad skeptical but my husband loves these little roadside local Mom and Pop eateries. By recommendation he has the shrimp tacos and I the trader cheeseburger. We were very happy we did!!! We happily, accidentally found this place again. Had been here in 2013, but wasn't sure where it was. Found this at Yelp, drove up, and was very glad to see the place we remembered. We were staying in Carrabelle, and and went to yelp for food help! From the outside, this restaurant looked exactly like what we wanted. Sand, a little shack feel to it. For sure not a big box kind of joint. We went in and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. Pretty quick we noticed there were aquariums in a few spots with these blue lights that lit up the place in a little jazzy kind of way. The waitresses seemed a little low key- kind of straight to the point and friendly. Probably all kinfolk. As for the food, I had the oh-tu-you or something that sounded like that. Shrimp flounder and something else but I can't remember. It was really good! I got the cheese grits as a side, they were pretty bland- but I guess that is what grits are suppose to be right? My meal came with two hush puppies also that tasted a lot better than they looked. I say this because they were pretty brown looking, well cooked. But like I said, they tasted fine! Excellent new place! After a hot day of paddling around Piney Island, my husband and I were hungry, thirsty, and not dressed up enough for Antonio's. We saw this place, and thought we'd check it out. It turned out to be one of our best discoveries of the trip! Walking in, it looks like a nice (a little upscale) seafood market with a small bar area and a couple of high tops. We chose a table and sat down. When we each ordered a beer, the waitress offered complimentary crawdads, which were excellent! We'd never had them before, but this place made us believers! We ordered the smoked mullet dip, which came with crackers. It was really tasty. And we had steamed oysters, which were also done right. The beer was cold, the horseradish was spicy and the service was friendly and laid back. On the way out, we examined the seafood market area, and inquired about the rock shrimp. The were pretty liberal about letting us try a couple of samples. This place was a great find! A few friends and I had to seek shelter from the rain and since it was around lunch time we decided some seafood would be best! I was actually surprised that it doesn't have more reviews! This local restaurant is casual and has great service. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. They were delicious, but I wish they gave me a few more! I chose fries and a salad as my sides, but others at the table said the grits were delicious. I also got a few surprise hush puppies on my plate, which were fresh and delicious. The only downsides I found were the price (I'd say it was a little over priced for the casual type of place it is) and the sweet tea was not that great. read more

I've only had a chance to eat here one time. The food was good; we got the shrimp plates, me and my friend, but the $50 bill for two shrimp plates, with one tea was a bit steep. I think we hit the lottery of "hole in the wall" joints along the HWY 98 corridor! Not as many yelp users in these parts, but this place was a total winner. Had fish dip with house made tortilla chips, mild smoky flavor was perfection. Then shrimp tacos, there were 3 tacos...slam full of shrimp (I could only finish one). My husband had the shrimp and cheese grits (didn't look like he had touched it even when he was completely stuffed) Bonus...leftovers for teenage boys at home . Delicious. I ordered the fish and chips. The included fish is flounder. The fries were crispy and perfect. The flounder is fried in bread crumbs perfectly, not over-cooked in the slightest. It was $14 and I think that's reasonable in comparison to some other comparable meals I have eaten lately. Highly recommended! read more

I do not recommend this place. The menu selection is limited. The food is over priced and not very good. We ordered the Low Crab Boil. It consisted mostly of poorly cooked crawfish, one potato, one corn cob, and 2 blue crabs, and mussels. We didn't get our hush puppies. The chef salad was good but not worth $16. The Snow crab legs were not good. You get better buying from the grocery store and cooking yourself. Choose a different place to eat dinner. read more

We had a good meal here. We ate outside on a late afternoon before the busy season. Service was good, and the food was very good. My daughter had clams in pasta which was excellent. My oysters were good but $15/doz raw which was higher than marked on the menu. My wife's steamed peel and eat shrimp was very good. While we were there a customer stepped on a nail in the parking lot and bled a ton, the staff did not have a first aid kit, so be careful. Very good meal though! read more

Disappointing. From the other comments my wife and I expected better. Business was busy so we expected service to be a little slow. It was but no biggy. We bought drinks from the outside bar and waited for our table. 10 minutes passed and we were called in. The greeter was very friendly and we were seated and given out menus. Our waitress came to the table and asked if we wanted drinks. Obviously we already had them and declined. She then turned to walk away and we stopped her to say we wanted an appetizer. No problem she said and left us. After 20 minutes she came back and said something we did not understand and we said we were ready to order. We start to give our order and without a word she turns and walks away returning in a minute with here order pad. She asked my wife to repeat her sides which she did for cheese grits and cole slaw and then the waitress asked me for my order which was Ahi tuna rare with side salad and Lima beans. After she took that she turned to my wife again to ask her to repeat her main coarse selection which my did asking for the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp. Another 30 minutes passed and no app. She came by to say it was on its way. 10 miniature later here it is. It was actually pretty good and turned out to be the best part of the meal. Then she came back in 20 minutes with more calamari saying this is because it took so long. It wasn't as good and we left most of it on the table. Another 15 minutes and out come the main courses. Ahi was well done. Anyone who eats tuna knows it sucked. She also brought me cheese grits and coleslaw. Not my sides right? She went back to get mine. My wife's shrimp was also subpar. The bacon was fine. Shrimp was fine stuffing was burnt. How can this happen? She said cole slaw was way to salty. She did say cheese grits were good. So for a sea food restaurant they failed. Maybe they make better burgers or wings. We won't be back. Major fail! read more

Very laid back atmosphere. We had 4 adults and 2 kids,e verybody loved their meals. Broiled and fried shrimp came in boat shaped platters, burgers were fresh hand formed patties and big, shrimp po boy was delicious, kids chix tenders were a little spicy but still good. They also are a fresh seafood store with their homemade sauces and dressings for sale. Kids loved the fish tank also. By far our best meal while on vacation in Alligator Point! read more

This was the second worst food i have ever eaten. The waitress was more concerned about conducting her side business in the bathroom and the food came out cold and just scattered around. The soda was watered down and the clientele at the bar yelled and had no concern for other diners. The waitress forgot to bring back my debit card for over 15 minutes and when it finally registered to her, she made no attempt to apologize. I will never dine at this restaurant again and strongly recommend every other place in panacea, even the gas station pizza is better. Wish there were negative stars to adequately evaluate this place. Seafood here is great! I got the scallops and they were incredible. Other people in my party also got a variety of seafood. Wasn't a fan of their house salad but their Greek with their home made dressing is awesome. The second night we went there I got their beer battered Chicken. Was not a huge fan of that at all.
