What seems to be a typical tourist trap at first glance is actually far from it. Sperlonga is a lovely beach town with lots of italian tourists and a bunch of international ones (mostly coming straight from Rome for a day-trip). Maybe that's the reason you still find good food here.
This place is right on the main drag of town, paralleling the beach, so it's easy to find. The menu is very big, so there's something for everybody. Pizze looked real good on other tables but we chose some other items on the two lunches we visited here.
We had the fried seafood platter with fresh and tasty calamari, shrimp and anchovies. Then the seafood spaghetti with vongole and pulpo. And they didn't cut short on the seafood. Good stuff! Beer was nice and cold.
On the other day we went for the cozze (mussels) and vongole spaghetti (a real treat again) and penne with cream, speck (bacon) and red radicchio. Penne didn't look special, but tasted amazing. A nice mix of heavy cream, meat and veggies. But for temperatures of around 100°F a bit heavy :)
Service was very friendly as well. Owner even gave us some discount on the second visit....just like that. Our dog was welcome as well.
Prices were - given the location - fair enough. A bit higher than on the countryside, but far from expensive like in Rome or Florence.
A great choice - recommended! read more
