I can NOT wait to dig in. Okay, I've taken some bites and I am VERY happy. I ordered the food delivery and they were super timely. As you may see in the picture, the bowl came with its ingredients divided so that it looks cute. Oh, and did you notice the straw is edible? So cool and good for the earth. Terrible terrible terrible Service. Had a team member handle my food so aggressively. Argue with me about the spelling of my name. Refused to give me his name then lied to me about his name when I asked when a manager would be available I was told one wouldn't be in until next Friday. I speak with the shift lead and get my food refunded because I lost my appetite after dealing with such a rude employee unprovoked. Okay so I have tried to visit the Tropical Smoothie Cafe three times in the past two weeks. I have really been into smoothies now that the weather has warmed up. Visit # 1: My first visit was on a weekend and when I got there the doors were locked even though they shouldn't have been open. The man who opened the door said they really shouldn't be open and the person who was supposed to open the store wasn't there. I guess he was an employee at the Dale City store who came over to get some fruit that their store had run out of? He could only make smoothies which was fine because that was all I wanted. Visit # 2: Last week I decided I would like one for breakfast on the way to work and when I got there the one employee working was on the phone with someone who wanted catering....ok so I waited probably 5-7 minutes before she even took my order. Well this morning I decided to get one for breakfast again. Even though the open sign was on the front doors were locked. Visit # 3: Today I decided again on the way to work to stop. It was 7:50 AM (50 minutes after the sign says they are open) and the doors were locked. The "open" sign was on...waste of my time to even try to stop. I couldn't see anyone at the front counter. Maybe they were in the back?? So I have decided to pick up my own smoothie ingredients so I can make them at home so I don't have to waste time driving there in the morning if they aren't even going to provide great service in the mornings. Try any drink with kale in it. It's delicious! I went for a Kale Lemonade and was later told that they were out of lemonade. Hard to believe, but could happen I would guess. I opted for the Island Green that had kale in it. It was delicious and felt naughty, but a 24 oz. is under 300 calories! The interior and exterior is clean and plenty of seating. So I love Tropical Smoothie. I love the fact you can add stuff to their specialty smoothies. When I went recently I got the watermelon mojito and a turkey bacon sandwich. My mother also got a smoothie, and a sandwich. She got the caesar chicken sandwich but when we got home her sandwich was something totally different. The lady at Tropical Smoothie made the wrong sandwich, the only thing she got right was that my mom wanted ranch dressing instead of caesar dressing. Nothing over the top and nothing bad. The Avocado Smoothie is absolutely delicious. I always get mine with B-12 and whey protien. The aquai berry one is also really good. My wife orders these two also, but with half the sugar. Keep that in mind if you do not like stuff extra sweet. They can always cut the sugar back. read more

This place used to be semi decent for getting in and out for a quick smoothie. They fluctuated with their food quality and smoothie taste but overall it was OK. Now I think they changed the management, and what a nightmare. Came there from office work hour and waited 20 min for a smoothie after ordering. And guess what it had sugar when I said 3 times no sugar. I just took the smoothie and left as I was getting late for work. This is in the middle of winters. They couldn't even handle Uber orders, I think they should have separate line for Uber eats. It's a shame that tropical smoothie is such a nice business model and franchise but they are not careful with who they give this to. I hope you guys improve your performance. My husband and I each ordered a smoothie, he got a sunrise sunset and I got the watermelon mojito. First thing we noticed when we walked in was a foul smell. This particular location is hands down the poorest from a quality perspective in the local area. The stores in Gainesville in particular and Centreville are better options. The facilities are generally dirty, and they don't offer any type of free WiFi access for customers. They used to but stop offering it. But the true back breaker are the smoothies. No other store has the same problem and in fact they are all supposed to make the smoothies the same way with the same training and practices. It was years before I went to another Tropical Smoothie, but the wife and I had lunch at the one in Dumfries and we really enjoyed the food, and my wife got hooked on their smoothies. But I would never eat at this Tropical Smoothie. Why? I've been there three times now, and each time there is a unpleasant, sour smell that permeates through the establishment. It was making my eyes water as we waited for our smoothie. I was hoping to relax there and casually enjoy our smoothie after a long day of shopping. But that smell made us grab our smoothies and beeline for the door. The one consistent among the Tropical Smoothie franchise are the smoothies. No matter the location, the smoothies are REALLY good. But the funky smell that permeates this location makes this a to-go option only, and turns my stomach to the point I can't even think about food when in there. read more

The girl had absolutely no clue when a mgr would be around and said he is supposed to open Mon- Fri, and that he basically just stops by whenever he wants (my words but it was implied). Apparently, many of these employees, including the manager at this location really don't care much about keeping their jobs. When you have a job, you show up and you just do your da*n job! How these nasty little girls are basically blending ice cubes and trying to pass them off as smoothies- even to children, I'll never know.. but I promise you they aren't long for their jobs. *Edit: This is to one 'T. I am sad that I have to give such a poor review, as I work in the plaza area and would love to treat myself to a breakfast smoothie on days I work. I am writing about their service, more so than their quality (my Avocolada was really good!). Last week I ordered online through their app for pick-up; wasn't ready when I got there, said it never came through. I told them I really couldn't wait; a very nice young woman with blonde hair was great and ran to the blender and said, give me 30 seconds I will have it for you! And she delivered! Great! I have also used this service in Dunn Loring and Falls Church locations, no problem. I will also point out, if you use their app you pay full price, not the advertised "Happy Hour" prices from 7-9am, which is irritating. However, I did the same thing again today; I even ordered to have it ready ASAP (usually within 5 min) 30 min early so I would not run into that issue again. I even attempted calling 2x (no answer) on their phone to make sure they got the order this time, since they had issues with their system (it happens, I get it). I arrive, once again nothing there. Different group of workers, not at all accommodating, just kept saying, well, it never came through. Okaaaay...they seemed irritated. I asked them about the phone and had no response. They are the reason I will stick with other locations. So I left, empty handed and hungry, as I had to be into work in less than 5 minutes. I recently went with my teenage son for the $1.00 smoothie promotion. I ordered my lunch and a smoothie and used the $1.00 promotion. My son went next to get just a smoothie with his own app and they would not give him the promotion but rather said it was only $1.00 off. When I spoke with the manager he told me that it must be used when ordering online even though the fine print clearly states you can use the app in store as well. First, I'm not sure if the management has changed recently or anything because I haven't been in a long time, but the last time I went in there about a year ago I got some really crappy service. He didn't really seem to care that I was there (this is the same guy from earlier). On top of that, they were playing really raunchy, explicit rap music very loudly on the speakers. I'm talking about N-words, motherf---ers, and really disgusting descriptions of sexual acts and body fluids. That is absolutely unacceptable. Kids go there with there parents. Decent people anywhere would find that disturbing. I really hope the management took care of that problem. Who cares if there is only one person there? This is a business. Love this place! I figured out the trick is to order a flat bread and "add on" a smoothie. Total is less than $9! I like the cali chicken flatbread, comes with avocado, my favorite. There is a sauce on this flatbread that is just incredible! I tried a few different smoothies during my visits, the tropical C and green machine something like that, both were fantastic.
