My sunrise sunset smoothie doesn't taste much like fruit to be honest. It tastes like ice and a little flavoring. I've had Icees from the gas station that had more flavor than my smoothie. The ice even tastes like it was left in the freezer too long. I've had other sunrise sunset smoothies at other Tropical Smoothie locations and had no issue with the taste..,this is a first subpar smoothie from Tropical Smoothie for me. I feel like someone is being cheap and using very little fruit??? I don't know but I do know it tastes bad and not worth the calories for me. I guess I wasted $7. Never again. I want to start by saying that I am not a serial yelper and the business has to be consistently and/or egregiously poor or in the reverse remarkably pleasant for me to take the time to yelp. This particular Tropical Smoothie location meets both of the above criteria for me to invest time in reviewing it. Without further ado, this location is the absolute WORST Tropical Smoothie I have ever experienced- and I experience more Tropical Smoothies than I should! The owner must not be aware of how abysmal the service is at this locale. Each time I have been here the people working seem to be of high school age and each time they take an order it is like they are infuriated that they have to work. I understand they are kids and still learning how to be productive humans which is why I haven't posted a negative review. However, yesterday 8/15/22, I experienced what has to be the rudest and worst service ever. I pulled up at about 8:20 pm (they close at 9 pm) and when they saw me they were audibly & visibly upset because they wanted to close early. I tried to order food and they chose to close the food line 40 minutes before they closed. Fine, after experiencing many eyes rolls and attitude from a short girl with purple hair I was able to order a smoothie for my daughter and me. While we waited for the smoothie the two girls were in the back complaining about us coming in at 8:20! Meanwhile, they turned away four other people who were seeking food as well. I chose to sit and enjoy my smoothie with my 10-year-old daughter in the store since they close at 9, when much to my dismay the short portly girl with purple hair comes to us at 8:50 and says "uhhh we were closed" I guess signaling us to get out? To sum it up, do not come to this location unless you want rude, bad attitude-laden service from children. To the owner, you truly need to fire the purple-haired girl because she is costing you a significant amount of revenue by closing early and single-handedly eroding your repeat customer base. Until then, I recommend the tropical smoothie on Wilmington which is also staffed by high school-looking kids, but by those who will graduate and be successful vs those who are entitled with bad attitudes. read more

Dang man. How do you go wrong with a salad and a smoothie?? Well.... I guess I'll tell you how. I'll start with the salad since it was the most repulsive salad I've ever had in my life. The major issue I had is that it came full of rotten lettuce. ROTTEN. Like liquidy, slimy, brown lettuce. Ummmmm who would put that in a bowl and serve it to someone?? It was awful. Completely grossed me out. I tried to pick out the rotten and deal with it anyway. My sister and I DoorDash'ed and I wasn't about to waste my money since I couldn't go up to the counter and demand a refund. After attempting to pick out all the rotten lettuce, I realized that the guacamole it came with was also very off..... if you're an avocado lover, you know that "off" taste I'm talking about. The off putting guac and decaying lettuce did me in. I couldn't eat it. I also feel the need to mention the outrageous amount of sauces the salad came with. Even if the lettuce wasn't rotten, the greens became incredibly soggy due to the guacamole, hummus, and ranch it came with. You definitely just need to pick one of those. Hummus and guacamole together? No. Just no. Although, if everything was fresh, I'm wondering if it would have been good? The rice and black beans were in such scarce amount that I forgot they were even in there. Same with the cabbage. But come on..... in the end there is zero reason to add hummus. Add more rice and beans, FRESH guac and greens, and maybe a southwestern ranch. Yum. Oh, and I forgot the cheese. I actually laughed. When you add cheese to a salad, it's shredded or crumbled, amirite? Apparently not. I'm almost positive it was just a piece of Sargento pepper jack; a thin square of cheese you'd add to a sandwich. WHAT THE HELL. Don't ever get this. Everything about it was gross and weird. On to the smoothie. I love smoothies. I got the Island Green. It was..... okay. Bland with way too much ice. It was incredibly watered down and didn't have much taste. If you're looking for lunch and a smoothie, I guarantee you there are much better places to go. read more

Tropical Smoothie has ruined me to all other smoothie places. In my opinion only I can make a better smoothie. What I like is that they don't rely on sugar water and artificial stuff to give their smoothies flavor. I can order certain smoothies there with no sugar or sweetner added and they taste fine (albeit, I'm used to not drinking sugar so not everyone might agree). Add protein and it's almost worth the extra carbs! Anyway, I see a lot of complaints about the service at this establishment. It does take a while to make a smoothie. And even when you are the only person in the restaurant you don't know what phone orders they are working on. But I've been coming here for years and it's worth the wait for me. Yes the really kind gentleman who was always personable and helpful and seemed to run a tight ship hasn't been there for years and they have your usual teenage turnover. But really, I wish people would stop complaining about poor service at minimum wage paying establishments. read more

Just left this location and went up the block to FlyBoys. Just a suggestion, but when you have 6 people in the lobby and 1 table of guests at least come out and acknowledge us. You know who we are right? Your potential paying customers. Well 1 less paying customer since I left and we all made eye contact with the 2 employees working in the kitchen area several times. Obviously do some customer service training and acknowledge every guest the minute they walk in and step up to the counter. "Hello thanks for coming in, we'll be right with you." The wait time is always excessive. I've even tried calling ahead to place my order and no one ever answers the phone.
