Been looking at this website for years. Finally bit the bullet and paid the $50 for a half day fly fishing experience for my husband's birthday. OMG! Wish we'd have done this eons ago. Don't let the amateurish website throw you off. If you're into fly fishing, THIS is the best place to go near SLC. Even someone who hasn't tried fly fishing and/or mastered it will catch fish here. (They have instructors, but we didn't use one.) It is an 'all natural' pond from underground springs, with trout so strong and healthy your arm will be sore (for all the right reasons) at the end of the day. I'll admit some stuck up purists won't like the place just because of it's unfinished environment. But if you can live with the old-timey look, the fly fishing will likely be the BEST you've ever experienced. (NO spinning rods or equipment allowed. Fly rods and artificial flies only.) Take note: It IS catch & release! But you can take as many pictures as time allows. (You have to put the fish back quickly or they'll die.) But man, what a fight they'll give you when you hook them! Even the littlest fish make you think they are monsters as they strongly resist all efforts to haul them in. We stopped counting how many we'd caught after a dozen or so. (And you will get fish from about 12-14 inches, up to a few pounds. We did! Most of our big ones were 20-25 inches in length.) And you don't pay for time eating, resting, etc. You drive right up to the water, so you don't have to walk a long ways or haul equipment far. Very relaxing. AND exciting! Beautiful. Sounds of cows lowing, birds singing and a stream bubbling abound, along with great views of mountains to the east and west. I totally recommend this place for yourself or as a gift for your favorite fly fisherman. We can't wait to go back. Only two negatives: (1) Be prepared to haul out your garbage as there are no garbage cans. (2) For whatever reason they have NO restroom facility at the pond. Not sure why. Guys can always go into the bushes/trees etc., but women are at a distinct disadvantage, as many children are too. Come on, Clyde. Bring in a porta potty that's serviced weekly. read more
