Not only by her but one of her nurses who patronized me on the phone. Reasons for 1 star- No bedside manners. Impersonal. Lack of communication. Lack of compassion or concern. Unprofessional. Poor experience management. I was never communicated with or checked on after surgery. I was neglected by the doctor. She never called. She refuses to speak with me even after I called and spoke with her nurse who was unprofessional and rude. She never apologized. I never knew what happened with the surgery. She works for Vanderbilt but did my surgery at Tennova. My appointment was scheduled almost 2 months ahead of time but had to wait 5 hrs before I was brought in for surgery. In good hospitals 2 hrs is the limit. They put the saline IV in me hours before the surgery and without me knowing used a catheter during surgery. It would have not been needed if they didn't inject me with water for hours longer. Something was off, I almost walked out but I really needed the surgery so I stayed hoping there was an explanation and gain confidence speaking with the doctor but I never got the chance to and she never went over the procedure with me. Before I could finish talking to the nurse about the procedure and speak with the doctor for clear confirmation they put me under. When I come to, Dr Dowell had already left the hospital when I woke from surgery. I was treated like a number and not a human. I was neglected by my Dr. and left in the dark about my surgery. Actions speak louder than words and I didn't even get the right words either. Big Mistake I do not trust this Dr. Beware.

No longer privy to the Vanderbilt Student Health Center I had to grow up and look for my own…read moredoctor! I ended up coming across Dr. Nancy Lipsitz of Heritage Medical Associates and had a great experience! To start, the medical building has free parking, which already made me happy. Dr. Lipsitz shares a suite with a few other doctors, and their waiting room doesn't have that super uncomfortable waiting room feel to it, which was nice. Mostly by that I mean that it wasn't just chalk full of books and magazines on babies and parenting (which drives me insane), but instead also offered reading materials for those of us who aren't in the baby making business (I spent some time looking at wine and sports magazines). The receptionist was friendly, and I didn't have to wait at all once I filled out my entry form. The exam room was a bit cold, which isn't fun when you aren't wearing much in the clothing department, however, Dr. Lipsitz made me so comfortable I didn't care. She was nice and friendly, she clearly is good at what she does, and though its never fun to be poked and prodded she made me comfortable and didn't drag it out. Thank you Dr. Lipsitz.

I had a fairly long wait, however, once Dr. Lipsitz walked in she immediately apologized and made me feel comfortable and at ease. She was very sweet and thorough and sat and talked with me about what I do in my life when she was clearly busy. I am veryyy picky about my doctors and from my first impression, I've found "the one"! She was wonderful and Id recommend her to anyone looking an awesome gyno!

After calling TN womens care 5 times to try and get my files transferred and leaving messages or being disconnected I called Dr. Maune's new practice where I was told the TN womens care were refusing to assist people in this matter due to being upset with the Dr leaving and that I would need to go down and request my files in person as other patients were telling them the same issues they had... That's against HIPPA. And it's just childish. And unprofessional. So now I have to miss time at work to go down there and request MY forms be transferred. I'm incredibly upset about the lack of professionalism in this Dr office. This portion is prior to my Dr leaving. I LOVE Dr. Maune. This review has NOTHING to do with her. But the rest of the staff that work the check in desk are not very kind or comfortable to talk to. They act like they don't want you to be there. They have personal conversation while you are signing in and act like you're bothering them when you are there asking questions or signing in. The waiting room is always clean and I have never waited in the waiting room more than 45 minutes. They do overbook. You will probably wait for your Dr due to the appointments being double booked. They NEVER answer their phones and you will wait over 3 weeks to hear back when you have important questions. They are also typically rude over the phone even the nurse staff. I definitely chose to follow Dr. Maune to her new location, happily.

I quickly realized that people can be very negative about this, and lots of women think it is crazy not to choose an epidural. Dr. McGuire never once told me that I couldn't do it. She was so wonderful, and I know that her support and positivity were part of the reason that I had such a great natural birthing experience. She always makes you feel like you are the only patient she has all day, and the wait is never long. I did wait for about 20 minutes one time. That was because she was delivering a baby at the hospital. When she arrived, she was so cool, calm and collected. She never seems stressed, and you can tell that she really loves what she does. It sounds crazy, but after my son was born, I was sad to go back to seeing her only once a year! I recommed her to all of my friends.
